Just a 2-minute walk from Florence Cathedral, Hotel Olimpia is in the heart of Florence. The simple rooms have air conditioning and a TV. Many also have views out over the rooftops. Services at the Olimpia include a 24-hour front desk and a small bar. Guests have a choice of breakfasts, served in the sunny dining room. The Olimpia Hotel is within easy walking distance of Florence's main historic attractions, including the Uffizi Gallery and the Ponte Vecchio, just 330 yards away. Hotel Rooms: 24

It is not a fancy hotel but the staff were very friendly and welcoming and the location is fantastic , right on Piazza Della Republica so a great base to explore one the world's most amazing cities. The room was basic but very clean , tv, private bathroom and of course views over the streets of Firenze. Breakfast is typically Italian but enough to start the day. They also have internet available for a couple of euros. All over a great little stopover option.

Excellent location, just a few steps from main attractions and shopping, inexpensive, fairly clean and spacious room. The hotel is on the 4th floor and is very hard to find, as signs are unclear. The elevator is old and too small, especially if you carry lots of luggage. No minibar or tea-making facilities in the room, you can buy water at the reception for 1.50. Breakfast is mostly composed of a great variety of sweets and some fruit, the only salty food you can eat is soft cheese. The shower in the bathroom is a joke we didn't get - it's placed just above the toilet! Overall, it's not a 3-star hotel, but would be OK for a short stay.

Location in the centre of Florence. Large (but impersonal) room. Very good value for money. Free (but uninspiring) breakfast WiFi was sporadic and poor reception in our room led to intermittent access and was inaccessible to some devices (eg ipad and iphone in our case).

We especially enjoyed the view from our room. There was music playing in the piazza and we could hear it from our room, it felt magical and different from our everyday lives. The location was great, right in the center of everything. Our friends room was one without a view and smelled musty when they entered.

Location very nice, walking distance from the Duomo and other attractions. Near the train station as well. Good breakfast with plenty of options. Good facilities, except the bathroom. Nothing critical but a little old. Shower curtain that made a mess after the bath, with water everywhere.

The only good thing about this hotel is a location- it is on Plazza della Republica and is just 300 feet from Duomo, basically the heart of Florence. The room size is decent, but the restroom is just reduculously small even for ITaly. I don't understand why and how they thought the size of 4' by 4 ' could fit toilet, shower, sink and bide. Size of toilet is ridiculous, hotel charge for using Internet. The cont. Breakfast is very lean and consist only pastry and machine made coffee.

Hotel Olimpia is in a very central location in Florence, right on Piazza della Republica, which is only a 5 minute walk to all of the wonders of Florence. Our room was really clean and pleasant, although didn't have any view to speak of. The breakfast room is lovely with a great view over the square and a glimpse of the Duomo. The fellow on reception when we arrived was very friendly and helpful, giving us plenty of info about Florence and showing us on the map. All other staff we met were really friendly, and our room was air conditioned, which is very welcome in the heat of summer. The hotel is good value for money and a really nice place to stay.

The hotel was right within the Piazza della Republica which is surrounded by several restaurants with outdoor seating which is great for people watching and enjoying the night air. It was also central to many stores and just a few minutes walk to the Ponte Vecchio. My room was always very clean and neat and quite spacy. The staff was very friendly and helpful and always ready to provide me with an espresso and a conversation. Although I knew, it was a little disappointing to not have a small refrigerator to store a cold bottle of water and I couldn't fill up a bottle because the bathroom sink water was always luke warm. As for the bathroom/shower, it was small and a little slippery since the shower was not separate from everything else. That is, the shower head was on the wall next to the bide` and in front of the toilet so if I didn't surround myself with the curtain, everything would become wet.

This trip was my first time alone after 40 years of travels, My priority was for safety to get to and from the hotel at anytime of the day, Surprisingly, all corners of Florence is at reach from the hotel location, whether on foot, bus, taxi, train or to the city tour bus stop. Personel at the frontdesk were very helpful specially Mr. Marciano who was always friendly and ready for assistance, The cleaning ladies were at all times polite and had a smile on their faces. Floor was cleaned everyday and bathroom disinfected. Shower was in a narrow corner like any other 3 star hotel in Italy. Beds were clean and comfortable. Had airconditoning and a safe. Not to forget, there is an elevator. Because I traveled alone, I would have liked to have a room with a window overlooking the piaza. Sinds the hotel occupies only the one floor on the forth floor of the building and have a number of rooms, I realized, it would have been impossible to supply every client with the luxury of a window overlooking de piaza. In my case, solo, I would like to have been entertained with the sounds/noise from the piaza until the wee hours of the night (and sound proof close the window when I decide to get my rest). The room I got was situated on the inside of the building, with a window overlooking other windows on the same floor and that of below floors. It was extremely quiet (if you have no company), a room perfect for elderly clients or families with children whose sleep could not be disturbed. But, jah! We can't have it all!.. I slept well all through the 7 nights...... I had a double bed for myself!... And yes, I felt safe. If I get another chance, I shall return...

Excellent location near to Duomo, right at centre of shopping streets near to good eating joints. 15 min walk to station. Hotel is located in the old township of Florence. Stayed at room 9. Very old room with furniture in horrible condition. Badly needs makeover. Room was clean however felt depressing. Bathroom is very small/claustrophobic. Badly needs renovation. Very very old with no space to stand for shower. Water pressure leaves shower much desired Buffet breakfast with bread that either is few weeks stale or cheap leftover from bakeries. Bread roll hard enough to break your tooth. Juice diluted with water. Only Cake was good. Hard finding anything good to eat. Better to book without breakfast if you desperately need to stay in this hotel. No iron avlble. Wifi avlble at euro 5 per day Definitely put it on the NOT RECOMMENDED List. Would never stay there again even for 50% of price.

It was a good location and the hotel gave you a map and could arrange parking for you (expensive - but typical in a city). We stayed 2 nights and got a really good price on one night but almost double on the second. The cheaper night was really good value for money and the more expensive night - too high. The hotel was clean and the room had everything that you needed. I would recomend this to anyone who wanted to use the hotel as a base to go out and explore the city. The cost of the seond night. - there was a festival on. Also it was really noisey because of the good location so if you are a light sleeper really not a good idea.

Location is brilliant. It does not make sense that the toilet is literally over the shower area. Furthermore, it's a bit annoying that you cannot bring people over your room during the night so if you had good luck when partying, you would blow it off when bringing the fortunate over your room. Breakfast was not great either only sweet things to eat.

“Rooms, specially the ones on the third floor which are newly refurbished, very modern and comofortable are highly recommended. The price was good and the service was great. Specially friendly was the attention of Guido at the front desk. He recommended us places to go, restaurants to visit in the area, etc. Buffet breakfast was included, it was ok but I have no complaints considering that you are paying a very good price for the accommodation!” Valeria, Cambridge |
