Even though we visited late September when I would say it is out of season, this is still a very busy area, and did not feel like you could relax around the hotel due to volume of people and traffic around. A main point for people coming in on the train, and a very busy ferry port right outside between the hotel and lake . I could imagine this is overwhelming in peak season. We headed off into Varenna instead which is quiet and beautiful. We did not engage much with the owner, but after an initial pleasant welcome, we felt an uncomfortable vibe.
The hotel is located in an ideal position, quickly accessible by train and ferry. Beautifully set a few metres from the lakes edge. The rooms are very clean and classic . Wooden slate doors opening out onto a small balcony is very cute, with a wonderful view over the lake .
