This family run hotel has an amazing view over the sea. The menu offers really nice home cooked food, the staff is genuinely warm and helpful. Good value for your money.

Praiano is a beautiful part of the Amalfi coast and a great alternative to it's more widely known neighbour, Positano. In fact the beach is much nicer and you don't have to battle the crowds. The hotel was equidistant from the beach and the town - ideal. There are amazing sea views from every room and as it is on the road, no steep steps to climb. This family run hotel could do with refurbishment but you get what you pay for and it represents outstanding value for money. The staff are warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I would recommend it to others.

There was no fridge in the room and wi fi only available in the reception area. It is tired which is a shame because it is so well positioned.

LOVE the family (and extended family) that run this quaint hotel on the Amalfi coast. All of the rooms have a great view, air conditioning (a true blessing in August!), and a nice balcony to sip wine, read or relax on. The food for dinners is superb. A great value for the location and level of service!

When previous reviewers said the beds were "hard" or "firm", I think they meant possibly made of cement. However, that being said, they did not prevent us from sleeping well so clearly they aren't as bad as we expected having first sat on them. The road noise and that in the hallways functions as a daily alarm clock whether you want them to or not. Ear plugs helped significantly. Note: This still would not prevent us from returning though. :) The good far outweighed the slightly disappointing.

The views were amazing!! You could see blue seas all the way to the horizon. The room was reasonably large and the bathroom was huge! We had our own balcony. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant there is great! Breakfast is served every morning free of charge and when we had to leave early, they made up a bag of food for our journey. The location is great! Just outside the quieter city of Praiano, and close to the beach, it is perfect for anyone who wants to experience the Amalfi Coast without being bombarded by tourists.

Situated in the heart of Amalfi Costiera, Open Gate is a great place to be close to almost all beautiful places like Praiano, Positano, Amalfi, Furore, Agerola, Ravelo. The room had a nice balcony and outstanding view to the sea. Very helpful also the available parking place.

    I cannot find something...was great

Wow, the view was fantastic and this was our favourite restaurant of our entire Italian trip. Thankyou Stefania (our waitress), very friendly and helpful. Best pizzas in Italy according to the children. We loved the stuffed zucchini flowers and fresh seafood!! A family run business which we found makes a big difference when travelling. The balcony was a great place to relax and watch the world go by. A local bus stop out front of hotel, to Positano. Would love to visit again. Also thanks for the tip on watching the fireworks over Positano...spectacular!! This was one of our favourite places on our holiday. Great memories.

Open Gate is owned by a very friendly, helpful family. We enjoyed the Italian meals provided in the hotel restaurant each evening. The beautiful ocean view from our balcony was delightful. We liked staying just out of town(Praiano) instead of being in the midst of a crowded town. Transport is good as the buses stop not far from thehotel. We would like to stay there again one day.

We just returned home from a week with Stefana at Open Gate. We had an amazing time. I still can't believe the value we got for the money. Our bslcomey doors opened up to an amazing view of the sea. With an expansive view of the coast to the south. With the bougainvillea, blue sky and green mountains, sitting on our bslcomey was a feast for the eyes. The location is excellent--a short walk to the village beach and harbor and more quiet than the main part of Praiano. The food was the best part. After a long day of hiking, swimming or boating, it was great to know that we could walk downstairs and get the best homemade pasta with mussels along the coast.

The bed was a bit hard and the pillows were too hard. Bring your own pillow and it would be fine.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were just as the pictures with great views. The location was perfect for us with the local bus stop at the door. We ate in the restaurant every evening and found the food to be great value for money with the house wine surprisingly good.
