Located on Via Roma, Hotel Italia is just 200 metres from Palermo Train Station. It offers a sweet and savoury breakfast and air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi.

Palermo Cathedral is just a 5-minute walk from this 16th-century town house. All spacious accommodation offers air-conditioning and a balcony. Wi-Fi is free.
Score from 132 reviews Very good
Hotel Alessandra is part of Palazzo Balsamo, a rare example of Sicilian architecture in the centre of Palermo. Rooms offer original furniture of the 19th century. Free Wi-Fi is available in the lobby....

Very close to the train station Atmosphere of an old decadent palazzo, for people wh like to live in odd places Rooms are clean
Wi-Fi was not working in rooms, only in the lobby (promised to fix soon) Only packaged sweet things for breakfast There was a chanting in the morning for like an hour (maybe close to the mosque) Balcony old and dirty
- location (200 m from railway station and airport transfer bus) - staff - possibility to store luggage after check-out
- room facilities - very old rooms - smells like antiquity - furniture extremely old - it's absolutely unsafe in the streets near the hotel (you have few chances to meet Italians in this district)
We have just spent 3 nights in Room 4. We took notice of the concerns about street noise and as our room overlooked the courtyard we had no problems at all. A little chaotic at check in, though we did arrive from the airport (a really easy bus ride away) at just gone midday. All was resolved quickly. Room a useable size as was our shower and both were clean. TV could only receive RAI5 but we weren't there to watch it! WiFi is free but really only useable in public spaces. Breakfast was fairly basic but fine. A family run business and friendly at that. Excellent value and we'd definitely return.
See What I liked
It's got a lot of character. Breakfast included. Room was freshly painted and had a good fan.
The street it's on is not very attractive.
Ambiance and location I would recommend this hotel mainly for the location and its fading grandeur. Loved the stairs leading up to the hotel part and the courtyard with ongoing building work. Hotel reflects the feel of the city where historic grandeur meets realities and limits of daily life. - Landlady very helpful and relaxed. Within 5 min walking distance of station and big market.
Breakfast was soulless and uninspiring but adequate with hot drinks from a machine and packaged everything else. I didn't sleep much as the noise of the city kept me awake along with the aircon which worked intermittently. My husband didn't have that problem and found room and beds very comfortable.
Location, cheap price (but common bathroom and toilets, 55€ if you want thel in your room) NB : breakfast not tested.
noise of the court well heard (cat... not cars). High windows you can't look through.
As a frequent traveler and guest here I always enjoy the warm welcome and simple comforts I find.
Nothing suits me
We enjoyed our stay great atmosphere great location
Close to markets and the train station
Very hot in our room. The website says some rooms have a/c. Ours had a fan which wasn't enough.
The location was excellent and easily found from the station. The building was lovely - an old palazzo with courtyard, complete with cats and cinquecentos. Rooms were spacious, quiet and very clean and bathroom whilst basic was perfectly functional. Breakfast was simple but satisfactory and the setting, with a beautiful ceiling, was exquisite. The lady on reception was very helpful (and the older lady, perhaps a relative ?) who although she did not speak English, was amusing - a real 'nonna'. An authentic and usual bit of history and a unique place to stay. Lots of character and simple clean accommodation at a good price. Recommended !
Strategic position, close to the train station. Fascinating old building, makes you feel part of Palermo’s history. Friendly receptionist, clean.
We would suggest to go out for breakfast.
The hotel is part of one of Palerm's ancient palaces. It has the same marble steps as the Palazzo Reale (one of the city's huge attractions. Don't be put off by the entrance which may be restored at some time in the future. Rosy Collett i and her delightful 91 year old mother are two of the most charming people you could wish to meet. Rosy will help you with information using her rudimentary English should you not speak Italian. We loved our time in Palermo and could walk to most places we wanted to visit. Note the boot-maker at the front door to the palace! He is on the right as you enter.
Ok for a budget hotel. Reliable wifi, Clean room, small bed but mattress was ok. Good aircon, The location felt unsafe but I felt the city to be unsafe. 1 night and I was out of Palermo!
Street noise, my room was against the market lane way. My room was also next to reception, could hear phones, door bells, people coming in. Elderly lady at reception always seemed angry, I felt she disapproved of my lack of Italian speaking. I would not stay here again. Breakfast was a joke, I have never complained about a basic breakfast but packaged croissants, tiny plastic coffee cups, cereal bowls hidden away, SALT in the sugar container! Hahaha worst tasting cornflakes ever! And that was about all there was to eat. Tiny selection.
Interior, the spirit of the place. Balcony.
Clean rooms and corridors, good breakfast in a room with old frescos on the ceiling, good facilities in the bathroom. Good value for the money. Very close to the central railway station.
No lift in the building so it was really hard to take heavy luggage up to the 3rd floor. Sometimes you have to wait to come into the toilet as it can be occupied by other hotel guests.
The Hotel is very nice and clean. The hotel is family-run and the grandmother is sitting in the lobby most of the times. Also the room-cleaning staff is amusing if you embark on it. The hotel is inside a historic building which you get to feel when entering the house. Inside, the rooms are quite normal but there is a very nice common room for breakfast with a painted ceiling. There is a daily market just around the corner.
There was a problem with the wifi and the repeaters which although was being fixed during our stay.
Hotel building was historical and thus interesting and our room was clean. Also lady in the reception was very helpful. Location is quite good if you don't mind a little shady neighbourhood.
Air conditioning was not working, only the fan. Room was very basic with minimum conforts and breakfast was quite poor. Even if the hotel has ancient charm we found it was not good value for money as it is quite expensive. Especially considering the neighbourhood that is not very pleasant.
This beautiful old hotel is only a couple of minutes walk from the bus and train station, a beautiful courtyard and grand marble staircases await you when you walk through the enormous wooden entrance door. We stayed in two different rooms, the biggest room with a massive balcony and ensure bathroom, and a smaller but just as beautifully decorated room with shared bathroom. It's like stepping back in time. After speaking to the lovely ladies running it, we discovered how steeped in history the building is. If you like staying in quirky places bursting with character and charm, then this is for you.
the owner of the place is a truly lovely lady, the breakfast was good, the rooms very clean and spacious with big windows and the palace it self it is a stunning venue
the town could get loud.
Great price Close to trains and buses Clean rooms
Very simple breakfast Scary surroundings at night Noisy street outside (market)
Location, courtyard, price
Slow response to email, breakfast probably worst I've ever had.
Liked the amazing painted ceiling in the breakfast room with huge chandelier!
Our room was small and damp and there was the smell of drains everywhere. We didn't get the room we thought we had booked on the Internet.
A little bit scarry with huge space inside but clean, comfortable and in perfect location. Friendly and helpful personel.
Great location in central town in a beautiful old building and very clean rooms!
Could not stay longer in Palermo ;)
