Ok for a budget hotel. Reliable wifi, Clean room, small bed but mattress was ok. Good aircon, The location felt unsafe but I felt the city to be unsafe. 1 night and I was out of Palermo!
Street noise, my room was against the market lane way. My room was also next to reception, could hear phones, door bells, people coming in. Elderly lady at reception always seemed angry, I felt she disapproved of my lack of Italian speaking. I would not stay here again. Breakfast was a joke, I have never complained about a basic breakfast but packaged croissants, tiny plastic coffee cups, cereal bowls hidden away, SALT in the sugar container! Hahaha worst tasting cornflakes ever! And that was about all there was to eat. Tiny selection.
Interior, the spirit of the place. Balcony.
The Hotel is very nice and clean. The hotel is family-run and the grandmother is sitting in the lobby most of the times. Also the room-cleaning staff is amusing if you embark on it. The hotel is inside a historic building which you get to feel when entering the house. Inside, the rooms are quite normal but there is a very nice common room for breakfast with a painted ceiling. There is a daily market just around the corner.
There was a problem with the wifi and the repeaters which although was being fixed during our stay.
Hotel building was historical and thus interesting and our room was clean. Also lady in the reception was very helpful. Location is quite good if you don't mind a little shady neighbourhood.
Air conditioning was not working, only the fan. Room was very basic with minimum conforts and breakfast was quite poor. Even if the hotel has ancient charm we found it was not good value for money as it is quite expensive. Especially considering the neighbourhood that is not very pleasant.
This beautiful old hotel is only a couple of minutes walk from the bus and train station, a beautiful courtyard and grand marble staircases await you when you walk through the enormous wooden entrance door. We stayed in two different rooms, the biggest room with a massive balcony and ensure bathroom, and a smaller but just as beautifully decorated room with shared bathroom. It's like stepping back in time. After speaking to the lovely ladies running it, we discovered how steeped in history the building is. If you like staying in quirky places bursting with character and charm, then this is for you.
the owner of the place is a truly lovely lady, the breakfast was good, the rooms very clean and spacious with big windows and the palace it self it is a stunning venue
the town could get loud.
Great price Close to trains and buses Clean rooms
Very simple breakfast Scary surroundings at night Noisy street outside (market)
Location, courtyard, price
Slow response to email, breakfast probably worst I've ever had.
Liked the amazing painted ceiling in the breakfast room with huge chandelier!
Our room was small and damp and there was the smell of drains everywhere. We didn't get the room we thought we had booked on the Internet.
A little bit scarry with huge space inside but clean, comfortable and in perfect location. Friendly and helpful personel.
Great location in central town in a beautiful old building and very clean rooms!
Could not stay longer in Palermo ;)
Staff was so cool, room was quiet, breakfast with the view from balcony, ceilings unique, location in old centre close to everything. We are coming always from now on to this hotel when in Palermo! In a week actually..:)
If you want a taste of real Palermo stay here. This ancient palazzo has more character than a movie set. From the giant courtyard to the once oppulant guilded rooms it never disapoints. My room looked out onto a fantastic street market. Dont miss the once opulant breafast room, you can really get a taste of what it must have been like to live like Sicillian royalty. Great staff including a real Sicillian "nona" sitting on a red velvet sofa... dont expect luxury, just a clean, friendly, and authentic experience.
The neighborhood is a little sketchy at night but not dangerous but that is all of Palermo!
Great historical building! Astonishing character and feeling to this place! The friendliest staff! Location fantastic!
The Wifi was not working in the rooms. Coffeemachine instead of fresh coffe at breakfast. Those are the only minuses!
asthonishing ! located in a very ramshackle building but charming
Very good location, near the centrale station. Friendly receptionist and breakfast in a lovely historic room. Great old building.
While the fresh fruit was delicious and the coffee good, the croissants could be fresher.
A grand old hotel with great athmosphere. Excellent location near train station, street market and city center.
Breakfast very basic (only prepackaged food).
The atmosphere and the beautifull Palazzo
Historic building , nice furniture homely atmosphere. Very central. Walking distance from railway station. Spacious room and big on suite (room8). There are also rooms with shared bathroom. All vey clean. Breakfast adequate. We stayed there for 4 nights. Good value for money.
There is no lift in the building
Unusual being a wing of an old and apparently half-derelict palace but once inside all was modern and clean.
Breakfast pastries pre-wrapped. Otherwise fine.
Lady at reception very helpful. Hurrah, no TV! Beautiful historic building, very charcteristic. Honey in dispensers at every breakfast table !
Only one toaster makes guests glare at each other for toaster turns! :-D
Hotel was very basic but it was fairly cheap, clean and in a good location for the train station
Check in was a bit slow but the staff were friendly, also I didn't like the fact that you couldn't take your key with you when you left the hotel. They made you hand it in at reception then collect it when you returned which just seemed a bit of a waste of time!
Lovely place. The woman who runs it works so hard and is very helpful. Great location near train station and the fabulous Ballero market.
Bed a bit hard.
Great location being just a few minutes from the central station. Room and beds clean. Value for money - you get what you pay for!
Don't be fooled by the grand entrance. This is a basic backpacker hotel - at least the twin rooms without en-suite. The room was quiet being round the back but a bit like a prison cell with a single high up window half blocked by the air conditioning unit. Insufficient toilet facilities with the one toilet in the corridor being in the shower room so if anyone spent an hour in the shower you couldn't use the toilet! Breakfast was basic but sufficient. Grumpy staff.
