Friendly helpful staff great location
It was lucky we booked this hotel just for 3 Days.
Apartmemt Eduardo: stink air in the room. Tried to open the window - came the more worse stink from the yard. Very noisy air condition. It was not possible to connect to internet and set up the TV. The oven was not in function. Cupboard was locked by personal after 1st day. Strong noise of running water behind the kitchen wall (hard to sleep).
The apartment was ina good location, but was under equipped.
Room very clean, great service, bar small and friendly. We would come back!
Access to station termini very good plus we were able to walk to a variety of tourist spots. Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable.
Breakfast wasnot automatically included in price unlike our other hotel stays.
Very convenient location and nice restaurant at the ground floor.
Very small room not suitable for two persons!
We were located in a separate location from the hotel so had no services. When we went to hotel (6 blocks) for assistance they seemed to take pleasure in being unhelpful/rude. One example, we checked out evening before we left and made arrangements to leave key in room (rather than have to take our luggage 6 blocks for no reason) - and then when we called (as per arrangements) to say we were leaving they argued with us on the phone saying we had to bring key to hotel.
Opulent breakfast, staff, comfort
Locations, wifi broke down for two days of my stay
The hotel is in a great location. Good value for money. Rooms are tight, but it's Rome you don't get large rooms. The breakfast was nice. The hotel fit the bill for Rome, it isn't a 5 star resort, but you don't get that in Rome. I would recommend the oxford to friends.
Air conditioned in all areas. The helpfulness of staff when we decided we needed to change rooms because of the awful damp smell.
Originally booked the an apartment but on arrival the rooms had a very strong smell of damp and walls in the kitchenette area were mouldy and paper peeling off. We tried to settle but the smell was too much so we called the hotel to see if any other rooms were available. Fortunately there were. No coffee/tea making facilities in any of the rooms.
ascetic breakfasts one of the 2 bookings for family rooms I had done, was a standard room with 4 beds.
Location was ok,,
4 statr can not be like that,, a very very small lift in which just 2 persons can go in. And even stairs just only 1 man can go up or down. Very very conjested,,, you can say it a 2star not a 4star....
Good selection breakfast time. Room not ready so given complementary drink at bar. Spacious room.
Location - whoever says this hotel is in a good location is lying! The walk to the nearest area of shops took a very good twenty mins (and we weren't slow). Our room was right on the street (according to internet is meant to be a quiet street) and we could hear all the motorbikes and lorries whizzing by until very late.
Quite and clean.
The apartment on Piave was fine and close to subway, bus stops and lots of restaurant, pubs, etc.
The kitchen in the apartment was poorly set and useless except for the microwave.
The Cafe Piave across the road and down about 150 yards.
I belatedly realised the night before arriving that we were not staying in the Hotel but in an apartment block which according to the Hotel website is just 150 meters away.....it's not...it's at least 350 and 4-5 minutes walk. Far enough to mean that we would not want to be walking a round trip of the best part of half a mile to ask the receptionist a question or use the Hotel restaurant, bar or any of their facilities. But hey...it's a 4* Hotel so the accommodation must be 4* eh? Well no actually, closer to 1* When you walk in you are greeted by a slight pong which we affectionately called the 'Aroma in Roma', the bathroom had a drench shower over the bath and a flexible hose shower from the taps. The water was so hot that it could seriously burn you and trying to use the drench head it was impossible to get the water cool enough to have a shower so we had to use the flexible hose holding it in one hand whilst showering. We had two bath towels between us which were only changed once in the seven days we were there, showering twice a day with temperatures hitting the high 30's. Apparently they only service the room on the day you leave to prepare it for the next occupant, I assume that if we had stayed in the Hotel itself we would have had the room serviced and clean towels daily, I guess the Suite is to far for the staff to walk to for cleaning. The beds were quite uncomfortable and we did not sleep to well. The kitchen is equipped with one very large pan, one milk saucepan, frying pan, cups and cutlery but no kettle, i kid you not 4* and no kettle. The Hotel has wi-fi but note the suite does not. When we checked in I noticed that CNN news was on the TV in the lobby and thought great some English channels...wrong again...the suite TV is all Italian channels. The room is very tired looking and there is a rumbling sound coming outside of the room which was intermittent and woke me every morning before 05.
We took advantage of a good B&B offer we found on the Internet and booked Hotel Oxford immediately. It was worth it: lovely hotel, helpful staff and convenient location.
i paid about $100 us per night (68Euro) and this was worth it i would not recommend paying any more you will likely be dissappointed not bad, fairly comfortable little apartment, 3 blocks away from main hotel, many keys to get into room, and not in bad location at all (able to walk most of the city) but it was not very clean, there was no maid service, no coffee, no water, more like apartment living. keep ur expectations sparse and if you get a deal this could be for you!
Liked the staff as they were very helpful. Location was good, food was nice at their restaurant. Mostly clean. It was very secure!
The communication before my stay was shocking. Shower wasn't great. Overall it was a good experience but I wouldn't stay here again as the communication before I stay is vital!
We would have preferred to stay at the hotel on Via Boncompagni. However the apartment round the corner was spacious with a good bed and bathroom. Staff were very prompt in responding to our questions. Good value and great location.
When we checked into the apartment we should have been showed how to work TV, shower and checked we could open all the doors OK. One bed side lamp didn't work.
My friend and I were in an apartment just down the road from the main hotel. The apartment was very well furnished and we liked the freedom of being able to come and go as we pleased and the option of eating in if we wanted to, the kitchen was well equipped for that. If any problems had occurred it was nice to know that the hotel reception desk was only a phone call away. We were able to leave our suit cases in the hotel on our day of departure until we left for the airport in the late afternoon. Really enjoyed stay at Hotel Oxford, when I return to Rome again will definitely book this hotel again.
The rooms were clean and the staff were pleasant and helpful apart from in the dining room where it was difficult to get their attention and we had to ask three times for coffee with breakfast.
The rooms were tiny and very basic with lino floors. It was more like a hostel than a hotel and I thought it was extremely poor value if not a rip-off. The breakfast was very poor - the scrambled egg appeared to be made from reconstituted eggs and the fruit was very unexciting (no pineapple or anything like that, just apples, pears and oranges, some of which were going bad). It was a good 15 minute walk into the centre of Rome so hardly central.
Within easy walking distance to Trevi Fountain and to the City Bus Tour bus stop.
Gentleman at the reception desk on arrival was like a robot, not personal at all and couldn't seem to let out a smile. Breakfast was very average. Our apartment was a 5 minute walk from the actual hotel. No room service. No English speaking television programs.
A real jewel staff very helpful Highly recommended
Very friendly staff but only after initial mutual mistrust at the reception. They undertake a lot and at times are a little overwhelmed. We became really well looked-after clients and would stay again!
Typically but they're not to blame that the wifi a definite consideration in choosing hotels these days was not functioning. The management themselves we're equally anxious that this was the case. Some rooms originally offered were totlla unacceptable and not really reflected on the site.
