Offering panoramic views of Saint Peter's Square from its rooftop terrace, Residenza Paolo VI is actually a former monastery, and is the only hotel right on Piazza San Pietro.

Close to Rome's Tiber River, Visconti Palace Hotel features designer rooms and is just a 2-minute walk from Castel Sant’Angelo. The restaurant with rooftop terrace overlooks the historic center.
Score from 1716 reviews Very good
Via della Conciliazione has the best views of Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome and this is exactly where Hotel Columbus is located, housed in an elegant medieval building.
Score from 338 reviews Good
everything.staff were excellent.the hotelwasmagnificent.excellent.
Location and still very quiet / tranquil Does not feel like a hotel - very personal The courtyard Breakfast Room comfort Room cleaning Lovely soft toilet paper Good quality soaps shampoo etc Vast majority of the staff The white wine
Room size No bath, only shower Minority of the staff The price of the white wine Bar / food only available after 16.30 a bit late for lunch, and not on Sunday strange.
Everything was great. From staff to services. Great location. Just few steps from Vatican, few steps from city tour buses, a various choice of restaurants around, taxi at your fingertip, ATM all around. What you can expect more? 15 minutes on foot and you are in Piazza Venezia, or Corso for shopping. With no more than 10 euros you can hit any point of interest in any corner of Rome. For us it'll be for sure always our option when in Rome. Thanks to all hotel staff for all touristic and other advices. One hint. When you check-out, take the transfer service offered by hotel. Due the rush traffic the taxi driver refuse to take you there and you have to pay an "extra fee" to be accepted. For same money hotel offer you a "limo" service.
A beautiful hotel with friendly and helpful staff in a great location.
easy access to Vatican City, and close to amenities. lots of charachter
Staff were most helpful and knowledgeable.
The location is great, really near St Peter's cathedral. The staff was always ready to help. The breakfast was definitely good.
24 hour front desk Close to Vatican Nice open-air courtyard Marble and stone architecture
Could not get A/C to run cool enough.
Hotel is perfectly positioned next to the Vatican. It was wonderful to leave the crowd of tourists from time to time to escape into the peaceful Palazzo Cardinal Cesi courtyard before entering the lobby and our room. The staff was very delightful, no matter who the person working was. The traditional decor made us feel like we had gone back in time to a famous era. The breakfast buffet was excellent.
The room and marble bathroom were small, but I'm not complaining since our price and location made up for that. One side note is that I always see the place we stayed now on pictures or television when the Vatican is featured. I love it.
Location Good breakfast
Flexibility of staff
very small warm room pity the 'garden' is not open
A convienient oasis in the heart of the Vatican. Staff at the hotel is very helpful with suggestions.
The location was fantastic. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. It all made for a very pleasant stay.
The first floor room and the restaurant.
No hot water in my fifth floor shower on 10/3. Front desk said they "knew about that" but hadn't fixed it.
Very peaceful sanctuary just steps from the masses of St Peters. Comfortable room and helpful staff. Went out of there way to assist with getting us into a taxi at the busiest time on Sunday
Not a huge room.
Next to the Vatican, old 15th century palazzo beautifully made modern. Wonderful open atrium for drinks and food. Sister property gives you access to a terrace overlooking St Peters. Rooms have marble everywhere. Staff was very polite and helpful. Attended to our every need. Breakfast great.
Nothing to say here. Ask about the automatic window shades!!!
Mariela ( Terrazzo Lounge Bar / Restaurant )was very helpful friendly and obliging. Hotel had a very tranquil relaxed atmosphere.
We were a group of 2 mature couples on vacation, and booked the Palazzo for a 2 night stopover. This was an ideal choice for us. The accomodations were excellent as were the staff. It's location is unbeatable, just a short walk to St. Peter's and just a little further for the tour bus stop. This is particularly wonderful if you choose to visit St. Peter's early in the morning prior to the crowds. The inner courtyard is very peaceful and wonderful for having cocktails before dinner. Although there isn't a restaurant in the Palazzo, there are many nearby. The breakfast was plentiful with an assortment of meats, cheeses, etc. I would highly recommend this hotel!
Coffee machine in room didn't work well.
This hotel is in perfect walking distance to many attractions in Rome. The tranquillity and architecture is amazing. Breakfast very good and staff is as good as it can be. Would definitely choose this hotel again
Poor wi fi in rooms but ok in area round reception.
Peaceful lobby and courtyard in a historic palazzo, just one block in front of St. Peter's square. Quiet, private city retreat, very close to Vatican museums. Room and decor were comfortable and tastefully appointed. Service was very low-key and personal, with check-in at an office desk. Helpful concierge.
Breakfast was just OK. Not many good restaurants in the neighborhood, not much going on at night. Not close to any metro stops. 20-30 minute walk (or take a taxi) to busier areas for shopping and restaurants, such as Trastevere or Centro Storico (Piazza Navona, Pantheon).
From the moment we arrived the staff were extremely polite and helpful inc parking my car The hotel is less the 150 yds from St. Peter square and is a ex Cardinals Palace as such it is quiet cool and relaxing even my 20.year olds enjoyed it The open top buses start 200 yds away and a taxi rank is virtually opposite, We will certainly be going back
Nothing to speak of
Response to issues and questions with regard to local restaurants. Nothing seemed to much trouble including sorting identification and parking. Booked local restaurant for us. Definite return to this hotel.
Breakfast mediocre and did not reflect the quality of the hotel.
Right next to St. Peter's square and the Vatican. Classy building where the hotel occupies a part. Charming patio.
Receptionist offered late check out at an additional rate that seemed very arbitrary/random, and differed significantly from the rate offered though booking.com Breakfast buffet was rather simple.
Very friendly and helpful staff through out the day. Many languages spoken. Good breakfast with good variety. Very peaceful and attractive private courtyard to sit and take an evening drink if required.
Soundproofing of bedrooms could be improved / guests leaving at 4.00am could be more respectful to over guests. Not the hotels fault.
