This is the noisiest place in the universe. Noise all night, so loud it felt as if it were right outside the door. I know it was Vinitaly, but the windows were so flimsy there would be noise all night no matter what. Noise in the street from 5 am onwards. I asked for and received a room at the back, to avoid noise, but it made no difference. Trucks, scooters, workers shouting, trash men dumping barrels of glass, power washers in the street, and all this was at 5 am. The room only had a very flimsy bolt, with only one key, so it felt very unsecure leaving it and you had to leave the key if you wanted the cleaners to clean. No trash bin in the room, very bad pillows and only one each, no bath matt, no tea and coffee facilities, no towel rails, so we had to hang all our towels over doors and chairs. The towels themselves were thin and ragged around the edges. Light bulbs burned out in the main room and in the bathroom. The tiny fridge could not be plugged in because the plug was too big for the socket. (Masha was able to find a converter) The mirror on the dressing table was not attached to the wall, so if it was bumped, it was quite dangerous. No lights by the mirror. No information in the room about the hotel or the town or anything. No portiere throughout our entire stay (Saturday noon through Tuesday noon). Breakfast at the cafe on the corner across from the hotel was minimal and served by a woman who clearly does not enjoy serving. On our last morning, there was no hot water (Masha was able to solve that eventually).
The location is great and Masha, the hotel manager is absolutely wonderful. She was cheerful and professional and hard working. Room had a beautiful fresco on the ceiling.
