Fantastic location for all sights and shopping. Apartments are modern, spacious, furnished to a high standard and extremely secure. A coffee maker would have been the icing on the cake!
Very friendly, helpful staff. Location excellent, walking distance to everything in city. Apartment clean and large enough for family of 5.
Air-con units not particularly effective, be careful not to use too many electrical items at the same time as power to apartment will trip out and difficult to find someone to help outside of office hours! Wi-Fi signal not great.
The windows in the 2 bed roomed apartment are so small, hardly any natural light can enter. As a result, the space is depressing and dark, despite the excellent location. To make matters worse, the air conditioning was provided by a completely inefficient free standing unit in the lounge only. this failed to cool even this area. invariably it was hotter in the apartment than outside. It was impossible to sleep as a result. We knew about the street noise, but the lack of A/C was not expected. I would say the kitchen was equipped to a minimal level, lacking even a cork screw and a bread knife. Fortunately, my husband always carries an emergency (corkscrew, not knife!). Verona is beautiful and so is Palazzo Maffei from the outside, but we were so disappointed with this apartment, we rebooked our flights at some expense and went home early, rather than tolerate the conditions. My advice is to avoid this apartment unless you like to live in a sauna. From other reviews, I can only assume the other apartments are better?
Excellent location; could not be better. The general standard of the apartment was very good, lots of space and comfortable beds. The Front Office Manager, Masa, was very helpful when things needed sorting out.
There was only a 3-person sofa for a 4-person apartment; needed an extra 'comfy seat.' There was no plug for the oven, no hair dryer and no corkscrew. Whilst all of this was quickly resolved by Masa, it was irritating that there were such issues that needed to be sorted.
The location is splendid And within walking distance of everything in this beautiful city. The staff is fantastic. The front desk manager is as friendly and helpful as she is gorgeous. The rooms are impeccably clean and beautiful. Great showers, comfortable beds, and an incredible air conditioner. Look no further
There is nothing not to like.
I enjoyed every minute of my stay. I was disappointed that I missed the last two acts of "Aida" and 1 and a half acts of "Turandot" at the Arena because of rain (and I had paid over $2000 for my tickets!). But this is not the fault of Palazzo Maffei!
The location was fabulous and walking everywhere was a breeze! The building is historic and the room was very spacious and lovely. We did not face the square and there was still a fair amount of noise, but location was worth it! Very unique place to stay, but not sure if I'd recommend it again due to some of the hassles.
It took us 30 minutes to check in and get our room as they did not read the notes on our booking information stating the number of people in our group. English of man in the office was very limited, communicating was difficult. Unclear about check-out procedure, and during the day nobody was in the office. Not very convenient or conventional. Breakfast was at cafe across street and was very basic - 1 coffee and 1 croissant per person. Most hotels have a much nice breakfast, especially in this price range.
Best location!!! Nice accommodating staff, great little apartment for family with older kids or a small group. Nice touches, coffee, biscotti, cookies, etc. Fun to look out windows and watch the social scene below, even if they were having a good time well into the night.
A/C unit, condensation container would fill rapidly and over flow, just had to check and keep a towel down just in case.
The location is the reason for picking this apartment and it did not disappoint. Right at the heart of Verona.
The two bed apartment is small and not suitable for four adults with limited views and basic air conditioning. Not good value for money.
fantastic location, amazing view, space, staff, beds, lift, large balcony, air conditioning.
slow wi-fi, shower heads, noise (see location), seating, no cd player, no tv in lounge, no iron, no kettle, no dryer.
Location features facilities friendly staff
Loose wooden tiles - very sharp underfoot Broken shower screen which detached each time you moved it
History of the place, location and the entire city of Verona
The noise from the motorcyles of the staff in the piazza leaving after work around midnight.
Spacious apartment with all the mod cons, excellent kitchen & bathroom facilities.
No one advised us that you could leave your cases in a locked room after check out, consequently we were reluctant to leave our cases unattended. Would be nice to have had a kettle in the kitchen, instead of boiling water in the micro- wave for a hot drink, other than that, perfect.
The position was excellent.
We ordered a taxi through the office to take us to train station when we got downstairs there was a taxi waiting so we took it. I had an email from the office to say it wasn't the taxi they ordered so they had charged our credit card the cost of the taxi. They did not get in touch with us or ask permission to charge our credit card which I feel is completely unprofessional. We were very unimpressed and also unimpressed with the office for not replying to our emails on this matter.
The apartments are in a wonderful old building and are large comfortable, clean, well equipped with great views across piazza del erbe to the hills and castle
access by car was really difficult-we were encouraged to bring the car in and be met for valet service but it would have been much easier to park in a parking garage and walk in. It was very difficult and stressful negotiating tiny alleys and one way streets in a pedestrian-only part of the city. We also had trouble finding the reception office.
Super location in historic building. Masses of space.
With bars close by can be a little noisy, we also had door bell ringers at 4 in the morning for no good reason!
The situation was excellent in the beautiful square. Apartment was well equipped. Verona is spectacular. Venice is a reasonable distance for a day trip. Valentina was an excellent, and very helpful, friendly 'hostess'.
I did not realise one room was a small twin. Booked for 25th wedding anniversary, and was a little disappointed with this second room
We were vacationing in Italy for our 25th anniversary and stopped in Verona on our journey. The city is absolutely beautiful and the people are very nice. Our stay at Palazzo Maffei was one of the highlights of our trip. Our room was beautiful with a wonderful painted ceiling that we could enjoy waking up to each morning. The room was very large with soaring ceilings, unlike any other hotel we stayed in during our two week trip. The location was perfect for us and Valentina gave us a map of sights to see in the city and we embarked on a walking tour. We very much enjoyed our stay in Verona and would recommend the city and this hotel to anyone we know that is going to Italy.
My husband was bothered by loud trucks in the alley way behind the hotel but I slept just fine. At least everyone was working even though it was early in the morning.
location lovely large apartment with excellent views and a terrace around the whole of the outside
quite noisy at night and early morning boiler ineffective
This is a beautiful apartment with a dress circle position over Verona's enchanting Piazza D'Erbe with its lively market. It has everything you could need for a relaxing holiday. We loved coming back to our apartment after a day of wandering around this lovely city. Staff were very helpful to the extent that our daughter's forgotten iPod was couriered to our next hotel in Rome (Grazie Valentina!). Recommended!
Location great. Valentina was very friendly and helpful with everything. The apartment was comfortable, clean and quite. The Palazzo Maffei is beautiful. Highly recommended.
Location was perfect, driver to park the car was excellent, Valentina was tres charmant! We adored Verona, can't wait to go back!
Lack of coffee-making equipment. Need French press & electric kettle!!!
The rooms we had were very large and beautifully appointed and gave us all the privacy required for teenage daughters. It was exceptionally beautiful. Location was right in the heart of Verona making it easy for our teenagers to shop safely unaccompanied which was great for all of us.
The advertisement said they had a washing machine but they did not - they said we would have to pay for a laundry service or they would show us where the laundromat was. I am not sure if other rooms had a washing machine as i didn't ask. They should not advertise that they do if they don't as this was a key issue for me travelling with 2 teenage girls. The staff were friendly but not available 24/7 which didn't really bother us but may have bothered others. Parking in Verona was very expensive.
Nice location. Large rooms clean and historic building..fantastic
