The old world charm of being in a real palazzo, once in a life time experience , clean and walking distance to heart of town, fabulous room decor and overall dreamy, try it and you won't regret it

The staff couldn't have been more helpful. we were upgraded to a suite which was superb. Bed was very comfortable. breakfast excellent. The building was great. but the knock-out was the views over the sassi and the ravine.

very difficult to find. you can get there by car but no satnav will guide you there. Head for the cathedral and you'll get close.

Beautiful hotel with a rooftop patio which has super views over Matera. The room was very nicely furnished with a lovely bathroom and sitting area. Doors opened onto a patio where there was a table and chairs. Good breakfast.

We were told we could have drinks in the lounge area of the patio roof but unfortunately it wasn't set up in the two days we were there. No dining facility but lots of restaurants in Matera. Whilst the hotel was lovely, there was no other facilities that made it particularly special and for that reason we felt it was a little overpriced.

Once we arrived, we were thrilled. A genuine palace, but fully restored with ultra modern bathrooms, a/c and everything. The most luxurious place we ever stayed. The staff couldn't have been nicer and the views of the caves and town were spectacular. Not for those who have trouble walking up steep inclines or steps, as this wonderful place is right at the top.

It is extremely difficult to figure out the maze of narrow, often one-way streets and then to drive them to reach this hotel. It took continuous ;phone directions from the staff, all the way there, and their English was not perfect.

The beautiful and historic building, in a good location. It is a real plus that guests can park in the courtyard of the Palazzo, since Matera's narrow streets make it a difficult town in which to drive.

Very Nice small hotel in an old palazzo centrally located in the old part of town. We were upgraded to the suite with an excellent view of the Sassi especially from the large windows in the bathroom.

The hotel is beautiful, certainly reminiscent of a Medici Palace. very spacious. We had a junior suite which had fantastic views of the Sassi, breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We managed to converse with our limited Italian as this is yet to be really developed as a tourist destination. That was part of it's charm.

The contemporary nude photographs in the reception area do seem at odds with the character of the hotel. There is a very spacious roof terrace with lovely views but although there is a shady canopy, there were no chairs on which to relax. It would have been nice to enjoy the area and read a book.
