An artistic gem, Padua (or Padova in Italian) seamlessly combines awe-inspiring heritage and a modern vibe. Counting Galileo among its former tutors, the University has the world’s oldest UNESCO World Heritage-listed botanical garden.
Across the road is huge Prato della Valle, a green square with a canal lined by 78 statues, and home to a Saturday market. A market is also held in squares near to Palazzo della Ragione whose multilevel arches and vaulted wood ceiling are an impressive sight. Cobbled, portico streets lead to the finely-crafted Gran Loggia and clock tower.
Every church has incredible décor, but the most famous is Saint Anthony of Padua, featuring the bones of the saint, an impressive 7 cupolas and 4 cloisters. The square in front has a statue by Donatello. Padua Cathedral's simple exterior houses amazing frescoes inside the baptistery by Giotto, creator of the jewel in Padua’s crown – the Scrovegni Chapel. His 14th century frescoes there have been meticulously restored to be as vibrant as the day they were painted.
The closest airport is Venice Marco Polo, but before you head there from your Padua hotel, apartment or B&B take time to enjoy the narrow streets around Palazzo del Bò or the Jewish district.

Truly beautiful city full of history. the saying "Venice is beautiful and Padua is its sister" is true. To truly appreciate the beauty of the city I recommend the periods between April and May and never on weekends.

Beautiful city with plenty of culture and architectural landmarks. I would recommend it for anyone coming to Venice for its distance and relative affordability in comparison with the most tourist city of Veneto.

Padova is a fabulous city for people who like history, art, architecture, and culture. It is easy to move around the city on foot, and the city bus service is cheap, frequent, reliable and comfortable for places further out. The large student population makes for a very vibrant atmosphere, as do the outdoor markets in the piazzas.
The Scrovegni Chapel and Basilica of St Anthony are outstanding places to visit, but if you have time, tour the University. It is an inspiring experience to stand where giants of science, medicine and philosophy developed the ideas that shaped the world. Here you can see the lectern from which Galileo taught mathematics, and the world's first anatomy and dissection theatre, as well as lecture halls where the walls are covered with plaques commemorating famous alumni.

Recommend University Tour, Scrovegni Chapel, and the Basilica of St Anthony. Baptistery of the Duomo was just incredible. Renaissance architecture of the city is stunning.
Enjoyed the small bars for Aperitivo
I will stay for a longer period next time

Padua is a really handy and lovely place to stay in between Verona and Venice, so you can pay slighlty less for accomodation there and then take day trips to Verona (1 hr train ride away) or Venice (45 minutes away).
The food was, on average, much better and cheaper in padua than Venice.

We stayed in Padova only one night, arriving around 5 pm.
We stayed in Padova only one night, arriving around 5 pm. We found lots and lots of places that served sandwiches and coffee/beer/wine but, in contrast to Udine, we had a hard time finding restaurants with real food. I would not go back.
The position of the hotel is fantastic because it's right in the center of Padova. So it's a short walk to the main sites. The hotel provides free parking in garages that are very nearby. Breakfast includes both savory (eggs & bacon) and sweet besides fruit, yogurt and cereal. The bedroom was large, the bathroom could have been a little bigger but it was fine. The SPA is a little dated but very enjoyable none the less. Considering we were in the center of Padova the room was quiet. Would definitely stay here again.
we couldn't find better place in Padova. in the heart of the old city, with really good conditions inside, and what most important, with very kind and helpful host of the hotel - Susi.
together with her daugther they provide everything which is expected by visitors. so we've really sorry, that we only spent one day at that place.
so if You plan to visit Padova, definitely You could choose Casa Battisti for stay (and definitely longer than one night). Thank You Susi!
Albergo Verdi is an excellent option if you happen to visit Padova. Located in the very centre of the old town, from there you can reach all main monuments on foot. The room is fine, I asked for a quiet one and it was indeed quiet, which is important to me. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. The hotel develop on several floors in an historical building, which means that there the lobby and other public spaces are relatively small, but that is fine.
The hotel is located near the center of Padova close to the Basilica of St.Anthony. There are lots of restaurants nearby. The bus and tram stops are within a walkable distance.
The hotel room was clean, the bed comfortable. The room had all the facilities a guest might need.
There was a wide selection of food at breakfast.
The staff at the hotel was very nice and helpful.
I highly recommend this place when visiting Padova.
Everything was very good - our room, the breakfast, the breakfast room overlooking a small garden. We had a large, comfortable and immaculate room with a private terrace. The location in the university district is convenient to the train station and to the historic centre. We were meeting up with friends from Italy and much appreciated that the staff assigned us rooms (and terraces) that were side-by-side.
Service was exceptional. In particular, the lady at breakfast managed to serve (due to COVID restrictions buffet was restricted) all our family while there were other guests as well. On the other hand, in other hotels we stayed at in Italy, this proved more than challenging for waitresses. Parking and garage was abundant, after parking in Italy for more than a week this was a relief
Perfect location near all the main attractions. Host spoke excellent English and was very easy to communicate with. He gave us an excellent recommendation for a restaurant - Enoteca dei Tadi. Apartment was super clean and looks to have been fully refurbished in the last few months or so. Bed was comfortable. Quiet. One of nicest places we stayed at during our trip to Italy.
Although somehow outdated (as most comments report) it is very clean which to me is the most important thing when I search for hotels to stay .
The stuff is friendly.
It is only 5 minutes walk from the train station which makes it very easy if you plan to discover the nearby towns , but it takes more time to walk to the centre of Padova.
Good value for money.
A little away from the highway (autobahn), this hotel offers good bang for your buck, especially for people that need to charge their EV. We were able to reserve the EV charger, and drive away the next day with 100% battery.
The breakfast was good and enough. The two rooms we booked have been a bit old fashioned, but ok.
We were really happy with the location, the staff and the ease of all. The hotel beds are not comfortable and the hotel rooms would need a bit more comfort but overall the hotel is good and we were pleased with our stay. The breakfast is simple and heavy on the sweets, but for 8 euros acceptable.
My experience with Hotel Giotto was very positive. I especially liked their breakfast and I would like to congratulate the lady responsible for serving breakfast. She was very efficient and polite. Overall, a beautiful hotel in a beautiful neighbourhood of Padova. Grazie a tutti!
Good location a few minutes away from the city center; clean baths and rooms with very comfortable beds. The breakfast was great-fresh fruits, great coffee and delicious pastry and cold cuts.
There is a big parking, which is very convenient for Italy.
Nice breakfast, modern bathroom, quiet location with easy access to tram and important sites. We could open window too! Breakfast room is quite nice but this hotel does not have lobby or lounge space so it’s not really a place to hang out.
I loved the size of the room, it was exceptionally clean, and the best part was to have the breakfast (which is very complete and delicious) in the garden. This was the best hotel I stayed in in Italy. I will definitely come back!
Excellent choice for staying at Padua. The personal is very nice and the location of the hotel is really good, you have to walk some time to get to the city center but is totally worth it and easy to walk. Very good breakfast.
Excellent location, public transport at the door and hotel right in the old Padova city. Parking with cost right at hotel👌 Hotel staff were courteous, very helpful and amazing👌❤️ Good breakfast. Beautiful hotel.
The hotel is located very near the Prato della Valle. The staff was very helpful and kind. Breakfasts were good and the rooms were clean. It was a comfortable stay.
