Fabulous place, set in a fantastic location with stunning views of Orvieto & beautiful Duomo.Ideally situated for exploring many places of interest in Umbria,Tuscany & Lazio. We had a wonderful 10 day stay in the split level apartment,a home from home with everything you could possibly need. The care shown was outstanding with a daily cleaning regime+clean towels & sheets every other day. After a day sightseeing so good to relax in the private/secluded garden.Breakfast was excellent & Frederica's delicious bread & cakes a treat.Frederica & Maarten were wonderful hosts & gave us excellent tips for places to visit including the breathtakingly beautiful Civita.Enjoyed too their very friendly dog Nero & kitten Nerina.Very sad to leave - it felt as if we were saying good-bye to friends.
We stayed with Martin and Frederica as our daughter was getting married in La Badia. From day one we felt the intimacy and uniqueness of this beautiful accommodation. Our hosts facilitated our every need. Breakfast is a gourmet delight . I cannot recommend this accommodation highly enough. If you want some peace and tranquility Pietra Campana is a must. Frederica also makes her own soaps and toiletries, you really must purchase some of these to impress your friends. There was a tropical heat wave during our stay so the swimming pool was welcome bonus. Other wedding guests joined us during our stay to sample our little peace of heaven. Martin and Frederica were more than happy to allow this. If anyone was wanting a small intimate wedding you would have a magical setting here. While accommodation may only be for 12 plenty of hotels in nearby Orvieto. I sincerely hope that I shall be able to make a return visit.
I just didn't have enough time to arrange cookery lessons with Frederica! I think this would be ideal venue for a cookery or crafts workshop. I would encourage our hosts to have small display of crafts and homemade jams for guests to purchase. I felt we put Frederica under time pressure when we discovered we could buy her toiletries as gifts to take home.
Everything Helpful Friendly Family Run B&B Excellent Breakfast Wonderful Views & Great Location Nice Dog Accommodation Quality Excellent
The welcome we received at Pietra Campana was fabulous . Martenn and Frederika were the most amazing hosts , happy to chat or leave you to your privacy as you wished. The attic suite was amazing with terrific views of the city and amazingly comfortable , with a lovely big double bed. All the furnishings were gorgeous . Frederika was an amazing cook and breakfast was a delight ! And of course Nero , the dog was a delight too!
Whilst only 10m drive to the city , if you wanted to take a taxi for dinner so you could enjoy the local Orvieto wine too , this was a 40€ cost .
Everything from the moment we arrived to our departure The Owners are friendly, though discrete, breakfasts are great, the view over Orvieto is breathtaking, the place is a mix of old and design, rooms and beds comfortable, restaurant advices very accurate. We have always thought we would try new places every time but we will definitely come back here.
No mosquitos... kind of missed them...
We stayed one night at the end of our two weeks touring around Italy but we saved the best for last! Had we known how fabulous this place is we'd have stayed here at the start of our trip too. Immaculate, spacious, contemporary suite in historic building with stunning views of Orvieto, all set in beautiful grounds. Federica is an artist and fresco restorer and this is reflected in her attention to detail, from the scrumptious breakfast spread - homemade - to the pretty little floral plates it's served on. In the bathroom there were full-sized olive-oil based shampoos and shower gels (Federica and Martin produce olive oil) unlike the thimble-sized non-descript toiletries you find in most hotels or apartments. As hosts, they are superb and we spent a few hours - on their recommendation, at the gravity-defying nearby town of Civita di Bagnoregio - which is straight out of a fairytale! They have put their heart and soul into the property and it shows. And their dog, Nero, is an absolute sweetheart! If you are looking for somewhere to stay in this area stay here - you will not be disappointed!
Nothing at all
HOSPITALITY OF THE OWNERS ROOM AND BED BATHROOM AND FACILITIES BREAKFAST GARDEN AND SWIMMINGPOOL A PLACE OF TOTAL COMFORT A PLACE YOU DON'T WANT TO LEAVE
NOTHING AT ALL
Everything. Federica & Martin are wonderful hosts who truly made our stay a proper "home from home ".
Great en suite attic-room, very stylishly and warmly decorated. The room was very clean. Beautiful view on Orvieto. Good and large bed, lots of space, very neath bathroom. Beautiful garden with swimming pool and great, mostly organic and homemade breakfast with very tasty bread.
The window on the bathroom couldn't be opened, which didn't allow sufficient ventilation. Airco would be another plus, although it didn't really bother us because it wasn't too hot when we were there.
location was quietly set overlooking the hill town of Orvieto. Accommodation in the 2 bedroom apartment was superb.Breakfast was delicious. The grounds and pool provided a relaxing environment.
The view. The tranquillity, The breakfast, The staff, The pool, The room, EVERYTHING
Lucky we had a car but if you want an escape? Perfect.
The location was lovely. Frederica, the owner, is warm and welcoming. She works very hard to see that her guests are happy and comfortable.
We greatly enjoyed the views of Orvieto; the innkeepers' kindness, hospitality, and recommendations; the breakfast (the best on our two week trip); the beautiful and peaceful countryside surroundings; and the spacious rooms.
Absolutely amazing stay at Pietra Campana - the owners are lovely and so helpful. We stayed in the two bedroom suite and it was gorgeous. Immaculately clean, and best views ever. We will definitely be back!!! Awesome pool too, they don't really showcase it on their website, but it's beautiful, very private and well maintained.
It is a bit annoying to get in and out of town, depending on the weekend you go, it could be very busy, so taxis aren't cheap (about 20 euros each way), and it is a bit of a hassle. But, that said, I'd way rather stay out here than in Orvieto town just for the beautiful views alone!!
Wonderful pool to relax by, gorgeous views of Orvieto from the Attic Suite. Wonderful breakfast and large clean suite with a bathtub and organic bath products. We had a great stay!
Frederica and her family were so helpful, gracious, friendly and warm. They truly make you feel welcome at their family's lovely small hotel (plus, Frederica is a fabulous baker and really fun to talk to!). Beautiful grounds and great location for easy travel to Ovietto and Civita.
Difficult to access internet, but we were on vacation, so no worries there.
+ Beautiful location with an amazing view of the scenery and nearby town + Real classic villa, made of solid stone with watchtower and a dungeon, and the same time => + Great modern internal design + Outstanding condition - not a single door or board squeaking + Excellent facilities + Tasty and ORGANIC breakfast + Kind owners that made us feel like we are family! + Great outdoor swimming pool, very clean and rather big. It was an amazing romantic stay and we were sorry to leave.
Nothing, everything was PERFECT.
A fantastic place to stay. The attic room was truly amazing and was equipped for those wishing to 'picnic' in the room. It has a spacious bedroom and enormous living area and huge bathroom with, as Martin said, the best view of all over Orvieto. The swimming pool was most welcome after a long drive and Frederica and Martin were lovely. We ate on their recommendation in a nearby little hillside town which, again was absolutely superb. What a pity we only had one night's stay in such a beautiful and lovingly restored old house; a little gem.
The view from the attic was amazing. The breakfast with lots of fresh organic food was superb.
Excellent location with wonderful views and very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was freshly made and of very high standard.
A lift for heavy luggages to first or second floor for mature guests would have been helpful.
A fantastic place, with a wonderful view of Orvieto. We had the attic suite which was outstanding : very comfortable and decorated with exquisite taste. The hosts were not only very friendly but gave you the impression that you belong to the family. The breakfast in the garden was superb. It must be one of the best places in Umbria,if not in Italy. A must to try if you are in the area.
Wonderful family-run inn: beautiful property and views, very sweet and helpful innkeepers, amazing breakfast. We stayed in the attic room which is huge, very nicely decorated, and has a tub, not to mention the best view of Orvieto. We just wish we had more time to relax in the gardens!
This was not a problem for us but be aware there is no elevator, so if you have a problem with stairs maybe take that into consideration when selecting your room.
Federica and Martin are lovely down to earth people and were very accommodating. The organic products prepared by Federica were tremendous. The view of Orvieto from Pietra Campana were stunning. Much better to stay here than in Orvieto.
Everything was perfect.
