Location, modern, well appointed hotel, nice bar serving cocktails and reasonably priced snacks.
The hotel has both heating and air con but only one can be on at any one time in the hotel. So, whilst we had a thermostat to regulate the temperature in the room, as we were there during the official winter period, even though it was really hot at night, we could not turn on the air con in our room. As we are near the Arno, opening the window (had to do) results in being covered in mosquito bites in the morning.
Beautifully appointed room with an amazing view of Florence. Amazing breakfast, Friendly and helpful staff.
Mini fridge didn't work.
Stayed here for one night on our tour of Italy. It was fantastic. The hotel is centrally located with lots of restaurants nearby. We had a fantastic view over Florence and the staff were great. Great value for money. Highly recommended.
Clean rooms, free WiFi, near center of firenze, good breakfast
It will take a bit of walk to get to the center of firenze. The hotel is very near the church of Santa Croce. Santa Maria novella is around 20-25 mins by waking.
Poor food in the restaurant. Low on-off wifi.
Location is excellent - away from the noise and yet a step away from all the historical beauties of Florence. Very nice breakfast. Truly excellent Staff
Excellent breakfast choice , staff friendly and very helpful rooms very comfortable and we had a fantastic room overlooking the river. Had good night sleep every night very comfy beds although room was too warm at night had to have window open .
No expel air in bathroom so mirror steamed up . No sign to say pull cord in bathroom was an alarm and this flashed constantly on the panel in the bedroom . Was not until told about this that the alarm was turned off ie 24 hrs later . Good it wasn't an emergency!!
excellent location and beautiful refurbished room
we were both bitten by mosquitos in our bedroom, probably hiding in the air conditioning, which was not operational
We were very surprised to find flowers and champagne on our arrival as it was our honeymoon. I believe we were also upgraded. The room was spacious and clean and overlooked the river. The breakfast was great. The Level 5 (?) bar was a great place to sit and reflect looking over the roofs of Florence. All round a great stay and we would highly recommend.
Only 2 things we didn't like. I had to go outside into the hall to access Wi-Fi and as our room was adjoining another (with a shared door - locked of course) when our neighbors came in at 10.30 pm the noise was "unbearable". We had to make a complaint but understandably what could the staff do ?
The breakfast is too "British" oriented: eggs, bacon, bean, toast but no fresh fruit salad, no fresh yoghurt, no fresh bread ... Lack of variety for us.
Excellent location, generally comfortable, welcoming staff on arrival, stylish room and overall layout, decent breakfast.
Air con was apparently switched off for winter and room was uncomfortably warm, especially at night. Opened window but was too noisy and we were ravaged by Mosquitos. When we spoke to the staff they were unhelpful and didn't really seem to take our issues seriously. Overall we had a great holiday in Florence but it would have been better had we been able to get at least one decent night of sleep.
Warm welcome and good service. High quality hotel with nicely decorated rooms and comfortable beds. View at the river Arno and the Michelangelo Place with David. Breakfast. Amazing roof top bar! Walking distance to Ponte Vecchio.
Nothing. It was just perfect!
The space in the room was great. Location, staff and amenities were great.
No air conditioning. No counter space in bathroom. They don't re-fill the minibar.
Very nice two floor bedroom, with two toilets and nice high window. Nice breakfast as well.
Beds were too hard.
Staff was very helpful
Room needed redecorating
Excellent location, nice counter service and wonderful breakfast.
The room's view to the river
Breakfast buffet and waiters
Location of hotel is absolutely perfect!
Very nice hotel just 10 min walk from Palazzo Vecchio and heart of town. Rooms were very clean, plenty spacious, and recently renovated. Some have private balcony with city view. Roof top bar with pool was outstanding. No reason to go to Michelangelo Piazza for the view because you have better and closer view from rooftop, no crowds, and a drink in your hand. Breakfast was outstanding. Really nice stay.
Older gentleman concierge with comb-over was impolite and of no use. We asked him questions on two different occasions and he was a bit short with us and never pulled out a map once. We are pretty self sufficient travelers and don't need a lot of help, but after that we just went to the front desk girls. They were great! Pleasant, helpful and immediately pulled out a map to make sure we knew where to go. ?? That's inexcusable. If you are the concierge, and hold that dedicated job, and the girls busy checking people in and handling the front desk are more helpful, then there is a problem with the concierge! Reflects badly on such a nice hotel. Wifi was poor outside of lobby. Our recently renovated high tech touch screen room controls for AC, thermostat, music, etc were a nice touch, but not very user friendly at all, unresponsive, and tended to take a lot of poking and prodding just to get the AC on.
What a wonderful location! A view from our room overlooking the Arno and up into the hills, then, more fabulous views from the rooftop lounge. We loved our stay!
Location, location, location..as they say, all within relatively easy walking distance to major touristic and ancient sites, right overlooking the Arno River. Uffizi Galleria is just minutes and so are others. Firenze is overly busy at any time of spring/summer/fall, but seems to have room for all. Hotel is charming and well worth a visit. Breakfast, included, is more than adequate with warm dishes, American style, not Continental. Front Office, while helpful, tends to be a tad stuffy, overall a worthwhile hotel choice in the upper market with choice abounding throughout.
Single rooms are bigger vertically, with 15' ceilings, then horizontally and only overlook an inside atrium, albeit adequate with good beds/linens. TV is a tad tricky, no guide and staff is of little help here, One American/English/German/French channel and about 100 Italian. Beware that one needs a separate plug for Italy, the usual continental plug doesn't work and you have to ASK for one at the desk! Free Internet, while working, is no great shakes. Don't arrive by train on a Saturday night! You wait endlessly for a taxi, mine was 40 minutes being # 54 in line! Taxis cruise and you should call, except at the airport and station, if there are any!! Hotel Restaurant, while ok, is very limited in it's offerings, good roof top pool, lounging area and bar, all a tad overpriced in comparison to already pricy Florence with Trattorias and Bistros and other venues abounding, all within walking distance. Traffic in Florence is hairy, especially with the omnipresent scooters, don't rely on pedestrian signs and walkways.
First of all, I must thank Michele who is the Italian President of the world renown Golden Key organisation of concierges. He makes your every whim come true. Hotair ballooning in Tuscany? He has it done, Vip Cooking classes in a Tuscan 18C villa on its private massive vineyard with breathtaking views, consider it done! Tour of Michalangelos David with a private guide, Done! Fancy discovering Florence by Segway? He will arrange it! Forgotten your hat at a restaurant? Michele has it returned to our room before we got there...He even arranged for a helicopter tour of the Almalfi coast from Capri before we went there. Michele is a legend of a different type. I have traveled the world and stayed at the best hotels, none of them have concierge service like Michele. He made our entire vacation at Italy a lifetime experience and all from the Hotel Plaza Lucchesi. My family and I will definitely go back again and Michele should run for President of Italy. Honestly he is the nicest person we have ever met and I can't say thank you enough! The hotel and location are superb too.
I loved everything
Roof top terrace & bar the staff who looked after this area were very pleasant unlike in other areas of the hotel.
The Breakfast staff weren't very friendly, they only cleared the table when you gone. There was no fresh fruit available only tinned you had to ask for things to be replenished no one gave you a smile all in all a bit disappointing for a so called 4 star hotel. We reserved a so called superior room, well there is more room in a telephone box than in their shower, would I go there again NO!!
