Dating back to the late 19th century, Fattoria Pieve A Salti is a converted Tuscan farmhouse. It is housed in 2 buildings 1 km one from the other, just outside Buonconvento.

Loved the location and the effort put into restoring the building to its former glory. Loved the pool and well kept grounds. Owners were very nice too.
We felt it lacked kitchen equipment such as a toaster, microwave, and needs better saucepans.
The views from our apartment doorstep was breathtakingly beautiful, like those from a calendar of Tuscany. While we may not like driving on the dirt road that brings us to the house, the views during the drive was also wonderful - just sit back and enjoy the slow drive. The house wasn't hard to find. If you are coming on the dirt road from the north, the house will be on that same path on your right before you reach the town of Monte Sante Marie. Coming from the south via Asciano (where the views along the drive were awesome), the house will be on your left after the town of Monte Sante Marie. The olive oil that the owners produce was very good! The kind grandmother who ran the reception for her daughter gave us a small sample bottle. I regretted not buying a bottle!
There were some dust bunnies under the sofa and in the corners near the side tables. Everything else was clean though. I didn't even bother to sit inside most of the time since the views outside were amazing!
Podere Fornaci actually enjoys an outstanding position on the top of a hill in the middle of "Crete Senesi" area. The building, the garden, the outdoor swimming pool (of course, only available in summertime), everything makes this a real dream place. The apartment was big and well equipped. You have to be aware that in order to get there, you have to drive some 6 km through a dirt road, either you come from Asciano (south) or Torre a Castello (north). Please note, the road does not need a 4x4 car since it is well maintained. Only in case of snow, there may be some issues.
After meeting the owners at check-in we were just given a phone number and there was nobody staying on place. The owners explained they had some issues at home (they actually don't live at Podere Fornaci) and they could not stay. The place is very isolated, and coming back after dinner with total darkness, kms away from the nearest village, and being totally alone in the middle of nowhere was a bit a source for anxiety. I have to say that there was no daily housekeeping, and this was expected at least to empty the waste bins.
Beautiful Tuscan hills surround the property.
The kitchen utensils were missing. No basic cutting knife, no fry pan, no mixing bowls.
