Of our 10 day Italy trip, this was our most disappointing stay. The
place is very difficult to find, and once there, the "lobby"
was eerily dark, unwelcoming and empty. I heard some noise in the
kitchen and found a guy chopping garlic or herbs. He showed us to our
"suite, the largest room in the house. The suite had 2 flat screen
TV's, neither of which worked, a lumpy mattress, no ac and no
amenities. The following morning as we were getting dressed for a
wedding in Cortona, there was a knock on the door by two women
instructing me to get out of the shower immediately because the shower
was leaking water onto the floor below (lobby). Unacceptable, I told one
of the women that we would be checking out immediately. She called
Luigi, the on site manager. We had a lengthy discussion of what was
delivered vs the information on the website. The web site shows a clean,
beautiful pool. The pool in fact looked like it hadn't been cleaned
on months; think cesspool The web site boasts free wifi, when in fact we
had no wifi the entire time we were there, yet Luigi assured us they
were "working on the situation." "Breakfast
included" was a total joke, nothing more than croissants, oj and
water, any of which could be purchased at any European train station.
The nearby town of Cortona is Italy at it's best. If in the area
again, I'd stay in Cortona and let Poggio Sant Angelo fade into
history as has it's old, worn out structure and lack of service.
Luigi was nice and accommodating Beds fairly comfortable, yet old
