Located near the charming Tuscan Abbey of Farneta, the hotel offers the chance to experience an ancient, Leopoldine-age country-home, dipped in the green Tuscan country-side.

The hotel is close to the main cultural cities of Central Italy, including Siena, Montepulciano, Florence, Perugia, Assisi and Rome. Initially built as a farmers’ home in the late 1800s, the villa has undergone several bouts of restoration work in compliance with local architectural standards so as to preserve the original appearance of the property.

The sandstone driveway, traditional façade adorned with turrets, and the open porch-way give the villa a charming, rustic look, which is complimented inside by the open fireplace, and large intercommunicating rooms, separated by brick arches and exposed wood-beam ceilings.

The building is composed on 2 floors: the ground floor houses the reception area and the restaurant whilst the first floor features 6 bedrooms, one Suite, 5 Double Rooms and a large reading room, with open fireplace and comfortable sofas.

An annex, located just outside the villa, houses a wine-bar, and a large pool enjoying a wonderfully sunny position is located in the adjoining park, surrounded by century-old trees.

Food & beverage

The hotel offers an à la carte menu in the Poggio Sant ' Angelo restaurant. Dinner is served each evening between 19:30 and 22:00.

Breakfast is served from 08:30 – 10:00 each morning.

In the summer you also have the opportunity to sample the typical Tuscan cuisine in the garden.

The bar is open from 18:00 - 23:00.

Room information

All of the rooms are located on the first floor of the villa, are furnished with a range of individual period furniture from the early 20th-century and feature traditional Tuscan exposed wood-beam ceilings and cotto floors.

All 5 Double Rooms are well lit, with natural light coming in from at least 2 large chestnut wood windows, offering lovely views over the park and the pool-area.

All bathrooms are styled in a traditional Tuscan style.

Travel information

By car:
- Take the Milano-Napoli A1 motorway.
- Exit at Valdichiana.
- At the toll-booth, drive on to the speedway in the direction of Perugia.
- After approximately 3 km, take the Foiano-Cortona exit (the first exit after joining the speedway).
- At the crossroads, turn left in the direction of Cortona.
- After approximately 1 km, on the left-hand side, at the top of the hill, is the hotel.
