Excellent location! One staff member in particular was incredibly helpful. He made breakfast, served wine, and was available to answer questions.
Our room was quite small without even a chair. The lighting, while artistic and beautiful, did not allow for much reading. The reception staff was not as helpful as we might have expected. They were friendly, but nor particularly helpful.
Could not ask for a better location. 5 minutes walk from most of the major attractions and dozens of great restaurants. Nice clean rooms and a great staff. Evening free aperitivo with wine and snacks was a great way to meet other guests and share tips on how to get the most out of Florence.
Some street noise each morning as the stalls in the market outside get set up. Think of it as an opportunity to get up early and beat the lines at the Uffizi or the Duomo.
My fiance and I planned our wedding at the Palazzo Vecchio so wanted to choose a place that was nearby. Porcellino was a great choice for us as it was comfortable, in a great location and the staff was friendly. The breakfast included foods from a pasticceria, fresh fruit, cereal and caffe.
The staff are great.. The position was really good
It was a bit noisy at nite
Decor is fantastic, Location, Staff is friendly.
Its a bit too noisy at night (near the market) I am a light sleeper...
This is for sure one of the best places i stayed in a long time. The all place is amazing! Being surrounding by art and style is def something special. Very warm welcome by staff, kind ,attentive and price perfect for the location. I cant complain about the noise at all.We had a very special time at the porcellino gallery and cant wait to go back there very soon! Thank you.
room was excellent
beakfast v poor. no staff around.a quirky place that was v poor vale for what was paid
Charming small boutique hotel in the heart of Florence. Very intimate, and designed with a distinctive, individual touch reflected in the eclectic decor. Wonderful young man attending the complimentary breakfast as well as the pre-dinner aperitifs.
What's not to like? Great location and privacy. Speaking of privacy... it took me two turns around the block and a local waiter at the downstairs restaurant "Il Porcellino" to help me locate and escort me to the front door!
The staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough for you, especially Mariella on the front desk. The comfortable easy going atmosphere and inclusive drinks and lounge area were also very nice. The rooms were nicely decorated. The location is internally no ore than a 15min walk from most main sites and squares.
If you are a light sleeper you will struggle with the noise levels. The market just outside has late finishes and early starts and due to the location being so central, there is a lot of noise well into the early hours.
This is a stunning boutique hotel in the very heart of Florence. Overlooking the lively Piazza del Mercato Nuovo, one has only to shut the beautiful windows to block out all the noise below. Alessandra has curated Porcellino Gallery with exquisite taste, creating comfortable and alluring seating areas in all the public spaces, and dramatic and cozy rooms. Mariella and Mark attended to every detail, from a lovely in-house late-afternoon glass of wine to helping me navigate the city as a single person. I look forward to my next visit!
A unique Interior design, excellent. The staff were fantastic and exceptionally helpful.
A little Noisy early morning but thats what you get being in a City Centre location.
Great location, attentive, helpful , friendly staff. Small- only 5 rooms.
I like the staff and location.I would love to stay there again.
It was in an excellent location. Very nice hotel, good breakfast.
A little noisy
The afternoon refreshments were a pleasure, especially Mark's service.
Noise from the restaurant & piazza.
The place was charming with its gallery and colorful decoration
Rooms were very small and the breakfast was sparse Also, this place was very, very hard to find
Lots of construction and noise from the square below
A fantastic and stylish hotel in an excellent location topped off by extremely friendly staff.
Loved friendly helpful staff, fab breakfasts made fresh each day and unbelievable position in Florence. Loved this little boutique hotel.
Dark hallway to room, a little noisy from Market folk, but not a complaint just and observation.
Nicely decorated. Free drinks (Coffee, Water, alcohol) and an Apperitivo in afternoons.
It is a B&B that located in Piazza Mercato Nuovo - actually a noisy market of leather stuff. Every morning during our stay there (3 nights), at 06:00, a terrible noise began. The workers started to build market's stands. It woke us up and we couldn't sleep any more. When we told us to the woman who was in charge of the hotel she answered: "Dont you have an ear plugs?"...!!! So we bought ear plugs that didn't filter the whole noise but improve somehow the situation. The situation of paying 675 Euros for 3 nights and sleep with an ear plugs is an absurd. Noise was also in the nights. Groups of young people in the small piazza were very noisy. The windows don't isolate the noise at all!! This influenced the whole feeling during the week-end. Furtheremore: We had to leave the place on Sunday morning. The day before we asked the woman who was in charge of the place to reserve a Taxi ahead. She told us that there is no need for that since Taxi'es arrive in 3-5 minutes by phone call. We told her that there will probably be a problem, since it is Sunday morning. She insisted that there is no need and everything will be fine. In the morning Taxi'es were not found. We lost our shuttle to the airport of Bologna, that we had already paid 40 Euros for it. We were obliged to spend more 60 Euros to go Bologna airport by train + bus. We wrote these details to hotel/owners, asking for a refund for the 60 Euros we had to pay. It took them 6 days to answer and the answer said that they can not be responsible to services that are given by thirs parties and not by their staff.... A few words about the "staff": There is a very young philippine man - very kind and very nice who is there all the time. An Italian young woman was there 8 hours a day - not in the mornings and not in the evenings. One would expect to more than this for 225 Euros per night.
Mark, the most helpful and genuinely happy to help person we have encountered on our travels! Apertif hour Small, intimate and has fantastic character.
Wonderful boutique hotel with beautiful decor and design touches in a fantastic location in the very heart of Florence. Brilliant staff; particular mentions for Mariella and Mark, (plus Mark's cousin, sorry, name not known). Service as good as the best of the big hotels and way beyound any small hotels......all with a genuine welcome and smile. Only 5 rooms so more like being being an honoured guest in a friend's house than a hotel guest. Would we go back. Any time at all.
The fact we'd only booked a 5 day break. It's not cheap but we felt it was good value overall.
the communal sitting area is very nice - tastefully decorated with comfortable little seating nooks. It is an an unusual feature for such a small hotel.
The noise. The hotel is located in a very noisy area - the music and chatter from the restaurants right outside the window makes falling asleep impossible. If you do manage it, the noise of the market being set up each morning at 5am makes staying asleep impossible. No attempt has been made to noiseprooof this hotel at all 0 single glazed windows only. The staff's attitude is completely nonchalant and arrogant. Also, while the rooms are very clean, overall this hotel is very poor value for money. I stayed at a similar priced hotel in Paris and it was significantly more luxurious than this one.
The location was excellent, right in the heart of the old town, so easy walking to everything.
We booked a room which was described as a 20m2 room with a king sized bed and city view. It was none of these. The room didn't even have room for a chair in it and the view was a wall on the other side of an alley way. We were extremely disappointed with our stay here. Staff were unhelpful. Owner was obnoxious, and blamed Bookings.com for the description of the room!
Our room was beautiful and situated in a very central location. LJ was very kind and helpful, breakfast was fresh and delicious. Great stay!
The noise from the plaza during the night.
