Centrally located in Rome, Relais Merulana is a guest house set 550 metres from Manzoni Metro Station. It offers air-conditioned rooms and free WiFi, all a 10-minute walk from the Coliseum.
Score from 29 reviews Exceptional
The staff was very friendly, helpful and polite. The hotel and the room were clean. The wi-fi worked fine. It was fairly easy to reach the centre from there by bus.
There is no bar or lobby in this hotel as it is located in a residential building and for this reason it is not possible to have a drink in a hotel or relax in common areas there. Breakfast is only served till 9:30am even on the weekends. There was a lot of hoover noise outside our doors in the morning which was disruptive especially that it was the weekend.
No free breakfast
Perfect location with friendly staff.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make us comfortable.
The beds were firmer than I like.
The hotel is located a 15 minute walk away from the metro, has cafes, shops and restaurants near by, the staff were friendly and the rooms were clean and nicely furbished.
I would imagine this is unusual, and is very minor, but while we were out our room was refurbished, which felt a bit intrusive as all our stuff was removed and wasn't put away properly.
We are able to check in even after mid-night, the reception waited for us! The location is also very good.
The room is a bit different than the picture shown on the website but it is still acceptable as long as it is clean.
perfect for traveling with friends, the hotel is not right in the center but only 10 mins walking distance from tube Castro Pretorio (that's only few stops from main attractions like Coloseum or Circo Massimo) and bus stop (#62 for central Rome) is just around the corner (approx.20 mins. ride). Compact clean hotel, very helpful and friendly staff, good wi-fi, nice and cheap places to eat and drink near by (try Disco Volente!!!)
I have stayed at this hotel many times. The location is excellent being very close to the centre with easy access to buses and underground tube. The staff are very good and always helpful. The hotel has lots of character with one of the last 1920's style elavators.
The rooms can do with being updated. I had a broken shower unit and worn furniture etc. nothing that serious though.
Great little hotel! The staff was the nicest you could find!thanks Luca!
Good location, within walking distance from Termini Station.
Very narrow and too soft bed. The staff were friendly, but had some problems with English. When asked about the frequency of bus service, they couldn't answer our questions sufficiently. We were leaving very early in the morning and there was no one at the reception desk, despite of the notice we gave the staff the day before.
Nice clean room. Friendly and english speaking staff. Good location. Wi-Fi.
Perfect location Nice personal
small and too soft bed small room at all hotel in the second floor as some flat little noisy, everithing was to hear, especialy in the morning
Small and clean room in an hotel just out of the city wall, at walk distance from villa borghese.
There was no fridge in the room and the color of the walls was a bit dark.
Cracks in walls
Everything except one person.
All the staff were good except the lady receptionist.
Overall for the money we payed it was good. That is if you are looking for basic stuff and you're not planning to stay a long time inside the hotel during your visit to Rome
The sound proofing was literally non-existent. Our room was right behind the reception desk and we could here the tiniest noise, every conversation and every phone ringing. Also the breakfast was a bit worse than standard breakfast.
It is close to Termini, you can easily walk to the city center. The room was clean and simple. We arrived quite late after 11 pm and it was not a problem. On the last day we could leave our baggage there without any fee of charge. They have free wifi also.
The walls are thin, so you can hear others. We were there in November, so the weather was around 15 C but the heating was not working. We asked for an extra blanket and the problem was solved :)
Friendly and helpful staff Convenient location near buses clean linen and furniture in bedrooms.
Noisy rooms- water systems when in use resulted in disturbing noises. equipment in rooms need servicing e.g. T.V's, shower surrounds, phones etc..
