Hotel Porta Romana was perfectly situated within walking distance of Siena with the beauty of Tuscany surrounding it. Stafff was terrific, extremely friendly and spoke English very well. Two nights was not enough as we enjoyed the Hotel as much as we enjoyed the area. The view from the Hotel was amazing and just an hours drive from FLorence. We'd stay there again in a minutes notice! Thank you Hotel Porta Romana for a memorable stay! Derek & Heather Nothing of note.

The hotel is beautiful, with a wonderful Tuscan warmth and feel. The room was large and the bathroom was very nice. The best parts were the wonderful breakfast every morning made by the owner and the entire staff was ver friendly and helpful. The only thing that was the least bit undesirable was that the Internet access was only in the office and dining room.

This hotel was wonderful. Just park the car for free next to your door, and explore Siena on foot. Just a 10 minute walk to the Duomo and sites. Villa-like charm and lovely views of the Tuscan hills. Warm and informative staff. Excellent European breakfast. Not expensive.

The location was good, near the university and views directly to Tuscany countryside. The walk to the center of the city was not too long either. No traffic next to the rooms, yet private parking possible on the hotel parking lot. The room was having poor sound isolation to the neighboring rooms and the corridor. The breakfast was ok but not overwhelming.

Location is good, you can walk 10 minutes to Piazza del Campo or take a bus in front of the hotel. Free parking! Good place if you want to visit the city and go back to the hotel only to have a shower and sleep. Internet didn't work from our room, only close to the reception. Breakfast does not have many options..

The location is great if you have a car. Siena would be a nightmare to park a car in the town centre. It is only 15 minutes walk from the centre and and has a great view of the countryside from the top floor. Breakfast was included and was a typical italian continental style with very good coffee! The rooms are very basic and quite small, that said they were very comfortable.

The location was perfect -- just outside the gate to "old" Siena. Ease of accessibility without all the craziness of many people. Beautiful, best view from our window!!! Good breakfast!!! WiFi access was not available in our room, only in hotel office. I think in that case, there shouldn't be an extra charge for it. Still, it was a very good experience staying here.

The Porta Romana is in an excellent location. You can park for free and still walk into the city center in 15 minutes. It is situated overlooking a valley south of Siena with beautiful views. It made an excellent point from which we could explore Tuscany.

The hotel is just outside the zth, and has free parking which is very good. The view from the room was good. Breakfast ok (Italian style). Room small. Double bed small. Noisy in the morning. 15-25 min walk to the center or a few min by bus outside the hotel.

The location was excellent, within walking distance to town centre. Safe, onsite parking, just outside the town walls, so easy to access. Nice breakfast, friendly staff, clean rooms. Room was a little warm, fortunately evenings were cooler. No airconditioning, just ceiling fan.

Free wifi, but not strong signal in the room. Great location, nice walk to the walled city, not far. Very clean and comfortable. Great views. Free parking, a must since driving into the city is not allowed without a permit.

The staff was wonderful - very welcoming and accommodating. Apart from that the views of countryside were fantastic! There's an outdoor seating area that overlooked the Tuscan hills where you could have wine at night and hang out. The location was great especially since it's just a 10 minute walk into Siena's city center. The rooms were spacious and clean. The breakfast was served outside in the garden when it was warm enough. They have a kiosk with different tours - we took the Brunello wine tour and it was amazing - they will arrange for it at the front desk if you ask. It's a great hotel to base at if you have a rental car and want to tour the nearby Tuscan hill towns - We took several day trips and then came back in the evenings and spent our nights in Siena for dinner and drinks on the piazza del campo afterwards. This never got old as there were plenty of great restaurants to choose from. We stayed for 5 nights and had an amazing time! The only complaint we have is that sometimes it was a little noisy with people coming in and out of their rooms. Instead of the traditional heavy, wooden doors, they probably got new ones which may be have been a bit flimsier and therefore didn't absorb the noise as well. It was not a big deal however and only really kept us up one of the nights when there seemed to be a lot of people coming in and out - possibly after having too much to drink :)

We lucked out with a wonderful view from our room--top floor, facing the fabulous Tuscan countryside. The room itself was charming and nicely decorated, the staff was very helpful and sweet, and the buffet breakfasts plentiful. It was tempting to stay within Siena itself for the convenience, but we were really glad we stay here just out of the city walls to afford us the unforgettable view and more relaxed atmosphere (a quick bus or modest walk got us in and out of town easily). There was very little not to like...only caution might be that the wifi (and their computer center use) comes with a charge, so just be aware.

Our favorite place to stay in all of Italy! We were treated like friends of the family . . . from arrival to departure, every detail was beautiful, clean and enjoyable. An amazing location with a terrace to eat, drink, relax and views of the Tuscany region, deer in the morning, birds in the evening. Personal service at breakfast with a nice variety of food. A bus stop right out the front door, bus tickets sold by the staff, and all the directions you need by the owners. Or an easy walk into Siena. We hope to return!! Bathroom was small, but no different than 99% of the Italian hotels.
