What a fantastic place! Great views, spotlessly clean, super helpful staff w/great command of languages, quiet. Easy walk into the wonderful town of Siena. Felt more like being at a resort than a hotel. Highest marks and great memories!

The WiFi connection was good. The room was clean and ready when we arrived. The view from our window, especially the sunrise was gorgeous. It was an easy walk into Siena. Breakfast was about average for Italy. Parking was free.

The staff were very helpful, the room had the basic comforts and the view of the surrounding area was great.
The breakfast was ordinary, the wifi reception was intermittent, and it would have been more comfortable with carpet mats on the floor and a good mat at the front door, as it was raining while we were there.
It's authentic, calm, phantastic view, you have a free parking place, go to the trattoria the reception recommands, you get a map, the walk to the center is interesting and quick, our bathroom had a window.
If you want to leave early: breaktfast only starts at 8 am
The rooms are okay, and the breakfast was good value.
There are not many eating places nearby, the Wifi was poor
Within walking distance of the Campo yet it still has a beautiful view of the Tuscan countryside. It also has parking if you've got a car.
We checked in late and we had heavy luggage. There was no elevator to the second floor yet the young man at the desk did not offer to help us with our bags. The day man (who I believe was the manager) was extremely helpful with everything we needed so maybe he needs to have a word with the guy on duty at night.
Very close to old Siena and the sights. Wonderful view from our room of what you picture Tuscany to look like. Receptionists was VERY helpful with our time in Siena and our travel plans to other towns.
No lift. Hot tub is heated by sun so it's not really a hot tub but a solar heated soaking tub.
The location, free breakfast & parking.
The bathroom is tiny, almost impossible to shower in, water didn't drain.
The location was good. 15 min walk from the center.
The room was very small and noisy. we were on the first floor and could hear every one come in and out of their room.
The hotel is so cute and staffs are very kind. The view of hotel sees the trees and hills. You can walk to the city center (piazza del complo) in 15 mins or in front of the hotel there is bus stop and number 26, 28 and 51 go to back of piazza del complo. To compare with westerm style breakfast, the breakfast is very rich and tasty. Also the hotel has free parking inside the hotel.
The walls of the hotel do not protect voice so you can hear the sounds in the other rooms. Also if you are staying in the 3th floor there is no lift but you can ask help.
First, the positives. The hotel is just outside the Porta Romana gate. About 15 minute walk from Piaza il Campo and the convenient store Conad. There is a great view of the valley from our bedroom window (2nd floor) where we had a fantastic view of the Siena hillside. The breakfast is included so that saved us time having to look for a place to eat before taking on the day's retreats. The staff is friendly enough but again, being from a foreign country like Canada, we understand that tourists "don't know what they don't know". As a suggestion, I would tell the staff in Hotel Porta Romana to treat every person who stays in the hotel like a little innocent child who needs guidance with everything from what to see, eat, taste and touch in Siena. Don't assume that they have done their homework since they may not have heard or considered Montalcino or Montepulciano as a day trip.
The room we stayed in was very modest. The bed was in dire need of an update. A foam bed may give more comfort. Hopefully the beds are replaced soon. The doors in all units need rubber stoppers as everyone in the building seemed to slam them and in a building made of bricks and mortar, every noise reverberates throughout the 3 floors. The property was neat and tidy and there was a really funny cat who made us laugh every morning (and we are dog people).
Loved the location and the view on the valley nearby, also liked free parking where I could leave my car also next day for few hours after check-out while visiting the city center again.
breakfast selection a bit poor, nothing warm, no way to get some scrambled eggs or such...
Free parking, reasonable distance from centre, view.
Very small bathroom and shower, short bed (only 6 foot), variable wi-fi.
Good value
So smull you have to sit sideways on toilette
Close to the city. Nice panorama view. Very friendly staff.
The location is very nice, breakfast was yummy and everyone was extremely friendly.
The walls were a bit too thin, you could hear a lot of what was going on in the adjoining rooms.
The location of the hotel is brilliant, just outside the city gate which is as far as you can get with a car. Only a short walk to the center of the city. The hotel has a magnificent view of the Tuscan countryside overlooking the valley. The room was adequate and the facilities were fine. Wi-Fi was fine and the staff gave us the username and password on arrival to avoid having to register. The breakfast was excellent, again overlooking the valley in a half indoor/half outdoor terrace. We stayed for two nights and could have quite happily stayed for longer. The staff were particularly helpful with excellent English and their local recomendations of where to eat and visit were well worth listening to. Our nicest meal of the holiday was off the receptionist's personal recomendation.
It would have been nice to have had air conditioning and it was a shame to have to pay €10 per person to use the hot tub although this is for your entire stay so if you're there a while, this isn't too bad. We only used it once and the people before us had basically let the hot tub cool down by not having it set correctly. The walls were a bit thin in the room so noise does travel but it's a quiet area so this wasn't really a problem.
Good location, 10-15 min walk through Siena to the central piazza. Good parking area, clean comfortable room, excellent view (from room P anyway) nice breakfast, friendly staff and well kept surroundings. Jacuzzi too but 10 Euros pp entry.
Views of Tuscany and the staff
Internet connection was poor
The staff, the location, the room, the view, the parking..!!
The breakfast was not great but OK for this price
We were for the second time here. Everything still the best: view, personel, room, location and of course cats outdoors :).
The location of the hotel is great 15 minute walk into the old town ( which u can't drive in anyway ) rooms have a beautiful view of the Tuscan countryside and there is a deck which you can sit at and enjoy the views with a wine or beer - breakfast is great with fresh fruit, pastries etc
Was hard to not get water all over the floor when showering
- Free parking, just outside the main gate to city center. - View - Location - Friendly stuff
Siena being pedestrianised, having a hotel so close to the city walls with car parking made this ideal. The people were extremely friendly and helpful, telling us great places to eat on a student budget.
