It's about a 10mins walk from the main station depending how fast you go, but you can also get a local train to Porta Maggiore and it's much closer. Reception spoke great English. Small set of stairs then elevator to all floors. Good Rome base.
We had previously had the room on the roof which was quiet and away for the main hotel rooms.
Noise, school groups, quality of the room....not a restful hotel at all.
Part of a cluster of hotels about 10/15 minutes walk from the station. Friendly owner who speaks excellent English. Handy for the main station and very near the tram at Porta Maggiore. Great value for money. We have stayed four time and will stay again. Restaurants near by (great carbonara!). Not 5 star - but doesn't claim to be. What's not to like...?
It's always a longer walk from the stazione than I think so if people have luggage a taxi is a good idea. Some may not enjoy the walk as it's quite urban (but if you are used to big cities that will not be a problem).
The cleaning ladies were very pleasant and polite. The room was reasonably clean apart from the walls needing to be repainted. It is a small hotel.
One male receptionist was the most rude and unhelpful member of staff in a hotel that I have ever had the displeasure to meet. There was a mistake made with the booking (my mistake) in terms of number of people in the double room. He had the audacity to speak to us like criminals and about my partner as if they were a prostitute. His choice of language was horrendous and antagonistic and something that I have never experienced in my travels. The hotel is located in the Termini district where the streets are lined with homeless people, rubbish and empty shops which makes an unpleasant 15-20 min walk from the station at night. It does not feel particularly safe and is quite far on foot from the touristic areas. The room was quite dated and could do with a renovation or at least some touch up painting. The breakfast was very basic.
Impossible to get early breakfast (at 6.00 a.m. because of flight schedule) , at list capuccino and some cake even if not fresh would be very wellcome!
