The hotel had a good location, had a good breakfast and snacks, had some style as it was old and stone and the decor felt like Venice. It had a beautiful chandelier and a decent bathroom with large wooden beams. Also the room was clean and the one woman attendant at breakfast was very nice. The front desk spoke English and was helpful when we had questions. Well, I found a number of issues with this hotel for the price. First, upon entry it had a sewage smell, every day. The rooms however did not have this. The place is old with stone stairs that were leaning and broken. The bed was also on a lean and your legs were higher than your head. They could have fixed this with some boards (or something). The 3rd bed of our triple was an uncomfortable cot. However it measured at 90 cm which is what the website says, but who looks at that. It's freaking small. The tv was useless as the headboard on the bed blocked it. The place was generally rundown and old. The location, while overlooking a 'canal' was also the main street for people heading to work and has a school right across from your window. It will be loud from 7-9 if you're on that side. Don't be fooled by 'canal view' as we were. Every view has a canal. Our room was not ready when we arrived. That's enough I guess. Would not return especially at the cost.

Location was great. Very close to all the major sites. The building is a historical building and had alot of character. There was a strange smell everywhere in the hotel, possibly due to the age of the building. The beds were rock hard and felt like they were as old as the building.

Lovely historic building. Excellent location. Tiny room. Superior room advertised as spacious and having a view but was on the first floor, had no light and was claustrophobic.

Central to all aspects of the island. Staff helpful. Rooms nicely furnished and decorated. View of canal. Room 103 was very close to the kitchen so had some noise in the morning with preparation for breakfast being put in the dining room. Room was on a corner so had windows both sides, can be noisy at night with people walking along the canal at the front of the hotel, so unable to have windows open when going to sleep. No tea or coffee making facility in the room.

Venetian style, great location. Very good breakfast We had a large family room, but the matress on the large double bed was too big for the bed and hung over the edge. Otherwise it was great

Excellent location. Quiet despite being canalside Attached bathroom (which is not true for other hotels researched) Very good breakfast Free Wifi in room Room was on slight slope, so bed was not level! Not particularly large room for being 'superior' No hot drink making facilities in room, which would expect for the price. Expensive But comparable to other Venetian prices for location

The hotel was in a brilliant location not far from St Mark's Square. It had retained many of its historical features, but the bathroom was modern. At the beginning of our stay, the heating in the room did not seem to be working, and it was cold; later the heating came on.

The room had a very high ceiling with a beautiful glass chandelier--an elegant palazzo. It was lovely to see gondolas passing in the canals around the hotel. Breakfast was pretty good. The staff was very kind. They let me use the front desk computer to print out our flight boading passes. It was pricey compared to the 4- star hotels we stayed in Roma and Firenze, but it is in Venezia, so everything is more expensive here. I wish the room and the bathroom had more lighting, it was a little dark.

The location of the hotel was wonderful. A short walk from the piazza san marco. Shopping, restaurants were close by. The room was very comfortable and furnished tastefully overlooking the canal. The bathroom was modern and clean. Breakfast was served in a beautiful room overlooking the canal. The staff were very helpful and arranged for us to be transported to the airport via a water taxi very close to the hotel. It made our stay very enjoyable. Would love to return again one day.

Palazzo Priuli is a beautiful hotel with so much character. Our room was huge, which was such a surprise for Venice, and were even able to accommodate one of our children in a seperate bedroom to the main room (a big advantage when travelling with teenagers). We had a wonderful view of a quiet canal & the area is quieter than the other busier locations. It was easy to navigate to all the popular sites, and is only 5 mins walk to St Mark's Square. The service in the hotel was superb, and a selection of drinks and nibbles freely available in the afternoon was very well recieved after walking in the heat of the Venice sun. Breakfast was excellent too & there are so many wonderful restaurants around the corner to explore for an evening meal. The kids particularly loved Venice and the hotel, and was their favourite of our European trip!

The people there are very kind and courteous. Rooms are old style rooms and are nice for a change. Location - it's a little bit away from the action. Getting to the hotel from the boat jetty with luggage is bit of an issue. The hotel should make arrangements with one of the local Gondolas and offer this as an arrival option. This would make the trip even more interesting!

My room was ready despite arriving early and the reception desk dealt promptly with my reservation.Plenty of hot water for a bath.On the morning of departure there was a transport strike and the reception were just so helpful in arranging a water taxi and the porter transported us to the waiting taxi so we caught our cruise ship. The staff were genuinely interested in you and the breakfast was brilliant.Book early if you want to stay here!

“San Clemente is an oasis of tranquillity within of the bustle of Venice. We thoroughly enjoyed the 5 star comfort in the beautiful and quiet historic surroundings. Despite being on an island, it was convenient to reach all the tourist attractions as the hotel provides a comfortable water shuttle service to San Marco that runs every 20 mins and is no more than a 15 minute trip. Helpful and friendly staff. Fantastic breakfast. We would definitely stay there again.” Fay, Newlands, Cape Town |
