Only 500 ft from the shores of Lake Maggiore, Hotel Milan Speranza Au Lac is next to the pier for boat trips to the Borromeo Islands.
Score from 472 reviews Very good
This majestic property in Art Nouveau style includes indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a spa. It is on the shores of Lake Maggiore in Stresa, across from the Borromean Islands.

Located at the foot of the Alps, Grand Hotel Bristol overlooks Lake Maggiore and the Borromean Islands. It features a panoramic swimming pool and a large, lush garden.

La Palma offers picturesque views of Lake Maggiore and is in located in the center of Stresa. Right on the lakefront, it is surrounded by a garden and provides free parking.
Score from 464 reviews Excellent
We got upgraded and were given a room on the last floor with an incredible view on the lake. The staff was very nice and helpful. Very nice gardens and spa. The hotel is very well located. Would definitely recommend it.
Breakfast buffet could be improved.
Great location, pool area, good breakfast and a touch of old world charm. A grand old lady with real class. Lovely underground pool area. Room large and quiet with good air-conditioning-cannot wait to return.
Beautiful room with luxe appointments. Friendly staff. Bar scene on tango night.
Breakfast facility planned for group travel.
despite the grandeur of the building and the furnishings of a palazzo, the welcome and helpfulness of the staff made my stay at this wonderful location a pleasure.
the single room with garden view was a little noisy as it overlooked the main entrance for vehicles
Breakfast Room and general decorations and ambience. Location on the front.
No shuttle to station. Taxi cost Eu10. Wifi upgrade not available A banging door to the stairs kept me awake. This was fixed when I complained. Expensive.
The overall ambience was beautiful. Staff very helpful.
over priced for the room we had.It was way too SMALL. Would think twice before booking on line again.
The location is excellent. The hotel is very regal and old world and makes a very stately first impression.
This was our second visit and was disappointing. Staff seemed too busy with tour groups to care about individuals. Reception, checkout and help is all managed by two staff. Queues tend to be very long. Our room was disappointingly small with a tiny bathroom. The bed was meant to be king but was hardly two singles together. The internet was meant to be free but is tightly limited and time runs out very quickly. It is meant to service more than one device but does not. Extra time has to be bought from the hotel for a 7 day minimum which is useless for a short stay. On line purchase does not work because it is a free point (catch 22). At 2 pm we had to ask for our room to be made up. The two bedside lamps had 25 W globes and we had to read by torch light. We asked for stronger globes and were refused. The room provides one chair for 2 people. Too bad if we both wanted to sit. Overall overrated and not what we expected from a return visit. The hotel seems to aim at bulk bus tours and it shows.
location facilities Victorian charm Staff
Poor signal strength in room wifi
The location, the ambiance of a palace.
Price a bit excessive, medium value for money.
The size of some rooms.
Proximity to Stresa
Could hear the lifts all night
We got a triple room with garden view which is beautifully decorated and well maintained. Size was good enough (30 sqm) for my family with two children of 8 and 2. As for facilities, it's more than I could ask for. We particularly loved the swimming pools, especially the indoor which became to my surprise how charming and very well decorated. If I had more time, would have use its tennis clay court. On the services, it's outstanding starting from my check-in until my check-out from the hotel. They were very assistful and attentive, both at the reception and the restaurant. We were well pampered. I only had some difficulties with the wifi on my first night, however the staff had it remidised on the next day. Parking facility is within the Hotel's premises and free of charge. As for breakfast, they served wide selection of food. Did enjoy very much with our breakfast at the hotel's Terrence overlooking the lake. For the location, just situated very close to the center only few minutes walk to the square and the pier. All I could say is that we have had memorable and quality time at Stresa. Part of it I must extend my credits to the hotel for the high standard of services.
Really suprised had a wonderful stay , pool and hammam were great . Excellent breakfast buffet , thoroughly enjoyed our stay
This is a palace-like hotel. Indoor & outdoor pools were great. Plenty of sunbeds around the pool. Nice garden. The best location in Stresa, close to town & boats to islands. Airport bus stop nearby.
WiFi was slow. Room a bit small.
Excellent location, good facilities and the room was a decent size. The room was well furnished and the bathroom was also generously proportioned. The house keeping was very good. Breakfast was the usual buffet style and was reasonably good without being outstanding.
The bed wasn't particularly comfortable. The double garden view room my husband and I shared was very nice but my daughter booked a single garden view room at the last minute and it didn't have any conventional windows just skylights. I would warn patrons to be careful when booking their room that it is not in the attic!
Swimming pools - outdoor and indoor are excelent
Poor breakfast. A bit crowdy (proof of succes?)
We liked the area, the breakfast, and the pools. The front desk people tried to be very helpful, especially concerning the internet.
Our room 444 could not get an internet signal and we kept losing the t.v. Signal because of rain storms. There was only one English Channel. a coffee pot would have been nice and the room needed some TLC. Two bulbs out and the safe was falling apart. Tours got preferential treatment.
A great location right on the lake with splendid public rooms and comfortable bedrooms. Efficient and friendly staff. Good breakfast in an ornate dining room or on a terrace facing the lake. A big selling point is the pool which is set in very pleasant gardens.
Internal spa and swimming pool Rich breakfast Lake view
Staff welcome at frontdesk
Interior Rooms The indoor swimmingpool - magnificent The Spa The outdoor pool Surroundings Friendly staff Beautiful beautiful hotel!!!!
WiFi - lacked quality and only 1 device per room - why?? Breakfast was kind of stressing and lacked diversity
The location was perfect, could walk into the centre of Stresa within 5 minutes. Staff at breakfast were great, couldn't do enough for you.
The bar, seating was such that you felt you were waiting to great Royalty! One evening the locals completely took over the bar area to practice their tango, not what I call entertainment. Disappointed with the initial reception in the Charleston Restaurant, service was indifferent, perhaps they thought we were not resident.
Wonderful view and great breakfast
Old fashion style and comfort Very original indoor pool Great location
Hotel décor and location
The outside pool area is well maintained and the surrounding garden is absolutely beautiful. The spa facilities and indoor pool is something not common; as it was extracted from existing rocks, spacious and awesome.
The hotel is quite large and breakfast room can be fairly crowded.
