Built and opened in 2010, Excel Rome St. Peter is located just outside Vatican City walls, 0.3 miles from Saint Peter's Square. It offers ultra-modern rooms with hardwood floors.

The hotel is well situated near Vatican museum and close to the lovely center .the hotel is in the 4 th floor and the first day of my arrival the elevator was broken and nobody were there to help us for the luggages !!! The personnel knows only to give you the main informations room number time for breakfast and the visit map if you ask them sth more specific unfortunately they don't know to answer .however they are friendly the breakfast is not good and the breakfast place small some times you have to wait for a clean table
The staff was the best I ever encountered. This was my 20th trip to Italy and I have never had such caring and responsible staff at a hotel as this one.
Location was excellent base to see all the sights, Giuseppe on the desk was brilliant host and couldn't do enough for us
Poor wifi in the room but I think this was just our room as it was excellent as soon as we left the room
The staff were very helpful
The room is super small
Decor of hotel, rooms Staff..not one complaint..excellent Location Breakfast Cleanliness Location Transport Culture Buildings Tours Everything and more..
View from windows Tv..channels catering for overseas visitors ie English Small lift but understand it is part of the buildings heritage
Central location. Large room. Large bathroom Close to the metro Close to the Vatican Excellent restaurants & shopping at your doorstep Fast free wireless Excellent breakfast Friendly informative reception
First of all the Pros: 10 minute walk from the Vatican City. Many shops, malls, restaurants and ice cream shops within walking distance. The staff was honest, and professional. Except the guy on the late night shift who appeared to struggle with the English language and didn’t seem to care for anything. 30 Minute cab ride from CIA. 7 minute walk from USO!
Now the CONS: Pictures of rooms are deceiving. Adequate for one max 2 people. But still no space what so ever. We were a family of 4 and it is not a family hotel. We have lived in Europe for many years now so we can adjust to the limited spacing and we made it work with 2 adults, 2 children under 5, 3 bags and 2 strollers. However do not select based on pictures. Breakfast was included but if you like bread, yogurts and juice with coffee you are GTG. We needed more than that so we walked to McDonalds about 5 minutes from hotel. For a European bathroom it was ok in size for shower. And is not the one you see in the pictures. But not your typical hotel shower. Oh and the worst part of all… the add says it has A/C but it is not an individual A/C, IT IS A HEATER! Elevator in hotel was very small (still European style). Wifi… lol… only one bar on my laptop. Smart Phones and I pads, forget it… no signal! In summary for 5 nights we made the best of it and were able to see all the historical landmarks by walking, cab ride or buses, but would not recommend it for groups more than 2 and would cough up the extra $ for more comfort and better breakfast.
Everything was good. We met Josephe At hotel reception desk who welcomed us and gave a fantastic introduction to the city and recomamded a lovely resturant. Great place to stay!
The staff are very caring and relate well with guests.
Some of the rooms are too small and tight for a double room, they may be okay for singles
Location politeness of the staff
Price was not adequate for this type of hotel They should have warned that it is situated on some floors of the building Photos are misleading about the size of the room The reception is calling at 22:15 to find out when I am going to check -out tomorrow The smallets brkfst I have ever had in Italian hotels
Location in a very nice quite part in the area of Vatican. Many famous places in Roma are about 20 - 30 min by walk. Personal is very kind and helpful. Perfect in English. Very good shop in the by building were you can by some small 'gifts' for your friends at home.
Breakfast room is too small and ofter too ful of people.
Perfect location for visitor to Vantican city, only 10 mins walking distance to San Pietro. Also warking distance to metro station and airport shuttle bus. Front desk staff are friendly and helpful . Breakfast room is very small, but the food is good. Confortable bed, 24-hour hot water, modern decration, everything is good except the room size, but this is Rome, right?
The hotel share entry gate and an old fasion elevator with several departments. There is a sign in front of the entrance. Need to be careful unless you'll miss it.
Location, location , location - 5 min walk to the Vatican Close to the mertro and shopping area.
Not enough place in the breakfast area. Got a room with a very old bed - not as seen in the images. walls are thin you can hear sounds from other rooms and breakfast area - typical to all our hotels in Italy
Hotel was in a good location with helpful front staff who gave good Recommendations on places to eat and how to get out to the great sights.Breakfast was good and plenty of choice for a European hotel and while room was small it had everything we needed .
Didnt like shower in the bedroom.
The hotel had everything we looked for while we had a short break in Rome .
location and silence
the shower outside the wc and so in bedroom
The staff were excellent at helping you understand the city, its highlights and how to book them (where necessary). Also made some good recommendations for local restaurants. Good location for visiting most sites. Friendly atmosphere. The reception staff were the highlight. Very useful to have wifi throughout hotel.
Bed was too high and hard....one of was able to sleep; the other had restless nights. Breakfast - breakfast room is very small...8 tables for 2 and not a lot of space between them: functional but not comfortable. The limited offer was not replenished frequently enough and the whole offer was rarely available at one time.
Cleanliness. Location. Staff particularly Daniel.
Breakfast in room. Wifi patchy
location, atmosphere, stuff
breakfast quite poor, but not bad
Location is excellent, near to Vatican. The place is not so touristic so there is a lot of good restaurant nearby. Personal is helpfull.
Breakfast could be improved with real juice and in a closed room because we could hear a bit of the customers.
Great location in the center of the city. Comfortable rooms, though a bit small. Polite stuff.
Not a big breakfast bouffé and small breakfast room.
Location, decoration, cleanliness. Despite I was in Rome for business, I recommend this hotel for couples. The room is quite small, but the decoration is so nice that delivers a very warm environment. On the other side you are close to metro station and you can also walk to the old town to see the amazing ancient Rome.
Old building, tiny space.
We found the hotel clean and comfortable and the staff kind and helpful. We would recommend the Hotel Relais Dei Papi to travelers looking for lodging in the Vatican area of a Rome.
Nice cosy room
Wifi did not work
