How many people can say they’ve stayed in a 15th-century convent? You can if you book Relais Chiostro di Pienza, a charming hotel set right in the heart of Pienza. Set just 100 yards from Pienza’s cathedral, this historic hotel has its own well-kept gardens and a panoramic terrace offering lovely views of the Tuscan countryside. What could be better than a refreshing dip in Chiostro di Pienza’s outdoor pool after an afternoon exploring the old churches and monuments nearby? Sun loungers are provided on the lawn and you can get drinks and snacks from the bar. Relais Chiostro di Pienza’s rooms feature views of the old town, the Val d’Orcia countryside or the old convent itself. All come with tea and coffee-making facilities, minibars and satellite TV and some feature original ceiling frescoes. Free Wi-Fi internet access is available at reception. La Terrazza del Chiostro, the Relais’s restaurant, serves Tuscan and Italian dishes out on the terrace. Take in the panoramic views while enjoying your meal. Hotel Rooms: 37

The location and the historic atmosphere of the hotel. The quality of the kitchen at dinner was a disappointment.

Location in the heart of historical town of Pienza, historical building of the hotel, out door terrace with a view, good restaurant. It has been in need of renovation for many years. Furniture is old and shabby - no match to hotel's building, a bed was simply awful and really bad for your back, smell in the room, room not clean enough, almost everything (except for renovated restaurant) is in very poor shape. My booking was modified from 3 to 2 nights, but it was missed by a staff member, so we had to check the record.

The staff was great. The rooms are dated even though we had 6 couples and made the reservation well in advance the rates where different for half the rooms and they didn't seem to be much different. The breakfast was excellent. The location best in Pienza. No wi fi included in price. Seems over priced for the value.

We loved the view and the hotel location. Lovely to stay inside such a wonderful old building and to have a good swimming pool too at end of day's sight-seeing too!

Great place. Our only problem was the hotel is in restricted car zone. The city sign says cars are permitted to park in the city for 15 minutes if you are staying in a hotel. We parked for 10 minutes to find the hotel and when we returned to our car we had an expensive parking ticket. We were disappointed and annoyed that the hotel staff was unwilling to help us work with the police to correct this unfair ticket.

The hotel Relais ii Chiostro Di Pienza is in a wonderful location. The views are breathtaking, and, in summer the pool is areal bonus. The room was basic and neglected ( light globes missing from 3 light fittings) and no soap in the bathroom. Some staff members were not very approachable.

The view was just unbelievable from our room. It was a "throw open the window shutters and lean on the sill to just gaze across the valley" type experience. The restaurant is excellent for dinner. The town of Pienza is quite nice to wander around and explore and centrally located to access other towns nearby. There are some good artisans tucked away (pottery and linens) off the main streets. Day walks from hill top village to hill top village on the back roads are great to do with a starting point from Pienza. Beds are hard and pillows like bricks.

It's situated in the old city centre of Pienza and decorated in a style that fits the location perfectly. If you're looking for a romantic place with a view over Tuscan countryside you will not be disappointed. The breakfast was lovely, with a wide choice buffet in a beautiful castle-like dining room.

“It's in a great location to explore Pienza, Montalchino and Montepulciano. Our room was outrageously beautiful. We had a junior suite, with a private garden. The staff was wonderful; very friendly and helpful (and they spoke English!) Eleanora(at the front desk) even helped us get reservations to the Borghese Gallery for when we stayed in Rome the following week. We would definitely stay at this hotel again!” Andrea, Monmouth Jct., N.j. |
