The whole ambieance.
The location, staff and accommodations were beyond compare. This is one of the very best vacation experiences. We will definitely return on our next trip and will stay longer!
This is a unbelievable Hotel, well it is more like a home! The la Cappella is situated on the side of the hill over looking Lucca in the distance, so eating freshly made breakfast on the verander is breathtaking. The hotel is more like a home, with huge living spaces to chill out and read. The rooms are traditional Italian with huge beds, for a lovely nights sleep. The food is exceptional and Emillio ensures you are waited on hand and foot to make your stay is relaxing an pleasurable. This is an unbelievable place to stay and I would recommend it to all couples you and old.
I enjoyed very much staying at this amazing place where you can find peace & tranquility everywhere you look. I would completely recommend it and I'm sure I will be back soon...very soon.
Friendliness of host, stunning view
Horse Flies by the pool could be a bit of a pain - to do with the weather, I believe.
We loved the setting, the host, the house, the breakfast-fresh baked bread and cake straight from the oven eaten on the terrace overlooking the countryside. I had an early morning tour of the garden by David. He grows fresh herbs-hoping to have his own tea and soaps made for guests eventually. Already produces wine which he gives to his guests. We only stayed one night but would love to come back some day for rest and relaxation. Just beautiful. Fab dog as well!
I didn't ask for directions and found it very difficult to locate. The post code covers a huge area and local people couldn't tell us where it was. Thank goodness we found it eventually. Could say turn opposite the bar and look way up on the hill past the church! It is out of the way but so worth it.
Relais La Cappella is a place I would definitely return to. Views from the property were stunning and the quality of accommodation, breakfast and the whole stay was excellent. The owner was very welcoming and always ready to help. He provided a delicious and generous breakfast, setting us up for a day of sightseeing. A car is needed to get to the property but it is very well located for Lucca (10 minutes drive away) Pisa, Florence and touring Northern Tuscany. Wished we had longer there.
Location Peace Relaxed luxury
The views are beautiful, the hotel rooms are spacious but quite basically furnished, the bed is comfortable and the area is totally peaceful. We ate like kings in the evening, very generous portions, cooked to a very high standard by Emiliano.
There is a long narrow and winding road to this hotel, which is unnerving for those of us with a nervous disposition.
Delicious breakfast and fabulous view
Difficult to find without GPS and the narrow serpentine is challenging - my husband loved it anyway :)
Perched high up a hill with a beautiful view. Very spacious garden, furnished with refinement. A large and comfortable library/salon at guests' disposition. Secure parking lot.
The 2-km access road is somewhat daunting. A car (or a bicycle as in our case) is necessary for visiting Lucca, Quite a few mosquitos during our July visit...
- very nice location with great view - nice swimming pool and nice garden - very good dinner (€ 40 per person for three-course menu incl. wine)
- quite a tough road from the street to reach the place
Location - beautiful view over the hills and Lucca Staff - super friendly, accommodating to your needs Food - delicious, rich breakfast and do not pass on dinner cooked by the owner Atmosphere - relaxed, quiet
I have thought long and hard about this, but there is nothing you can say that isn't right with this place.
We liked the tranquil location in the countryside. Also the winding road up the hill which was fun and challenging. The fact that it was originally built in 1641 with a unique history made it a special place to stay. Our room had spectacular vistas of the valley and hills. We swam in the pool, lazed in the garden and watched the Tour de France on the large TV in the comfortable guest living room. It was a very peaceful place to spend a few days. Emiliano was a gracious host and made us feel at home.
If you want to stay in a beautiful, tranquil hotel with an amazing view over Lucca and the surrounding countryside, then this is the hotel to book.
No TV in rooms. No air con. Wi-fi speed very slow. Dinner at 40 Euros per head a bit steep. Having said this, most of these issues didn't matter because the hotel is so wonderful.
Great quit location, fantastic view, excellent breakfast and a friendly host! Would love to go back soon!
Beautiful location which was previously a monastery. Swimming pool was great fun! Emiliano is an outstanding chef with great breakfasts (included) and wonderful dinner upon request (not included).
Not much. Emiliano was really a busy guy and perhaps some guests (not us) might want more of his time I guess.
We could not have been more happy with our experience at this hotel! Take advantage of a Tuscan prepared dinner in the kitchen. The views are absolutely gorgeous, and the staff is amazing. This is one hotel that does not disappoint.
We loved everything, but the drive to the hotel is a little precarious. Make sure you have a good driver.
Fun and unique property, great food and wonderful experience. Emiliano is a great cook.
Emiliano is really a busy guy and I think some of the guests may have felt a bit slighted but we certainly did not feel slighted.
The location, room, view and breakfast
Managment not spontaneous or proactive. Did not feel very welcome. Also dinner is not served on weekends, of which we were not informed in advance
Spectacular view! Very romantic. We will be back :) Thank you so much for a very nice stay.
The style. The views. The pool. The garden. The two Tuscan dinners. The owner Emiliano. 15 mins from undiscovered city of Lucca. The general lack of formality.
Lack of wi fi in our fantastic appartment.
The views were amazing as was the place
The breakfast and view in the morning is out of this world, the rooms clean and the place had a light and airy feel
could do with better map to get there
