The Relais San Bruno is excellent in every way. Superbly run and in a beautiful location. It is relaxing, very comfortable and furnished with style. The breakfasts are delicious. The gardens and pool are a delight. We will return!
Spent four nights here in August in the “snow white” room (a free standing building/suite with a kitchenette). The place is definitely funky, but it works. The folks who run it are very nice – in frequent contact prior to your visit and happy to be helpful while you’re there. Its a pretty serious walk up the hill into Montepulciano, but doable for anyone in reasonable shape. The town is really fun and worth a day or two by itself. We also did day trips to wineries in Montalcino and to Sienna from here.
Absolutely fantastic place with a beatiful garden, pool area, great view of Montepulciano which is on top of the hill. Very relaxing area. La Grotta restaurant has almost haute cousine and is located within 10 minutes walking distance. But one may also choose to drive there as well as to Montepulciano. And of course one of the best things are the people who manage the hotel. They are always ready to help and advise good place to visit
Loved the rooms, the amability of Alberto and the calm of the Relais as well as the swimming pool area and the beautiful views
Wifi didn't work very well in the all relais
We had a amazing stay- the views were outstanding, as was the service. We didn't want to leave the property and spend much of our time reading in the garden. We hope to visit again!
A wonderful place to relax, and an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area.
Delicious breakfast, great homemade cakes! Manager Alberto was very friendly and helpful Views from the main grounds Lovely swimming pool Not too far from Montepulciano (steep walk up into town but doesn't take too long, maybe 15 minutes) Walking / driving distance to lots of other little villages to explore
Our room (number 6) was nice but quite sheltered from the sun (no view from the back), lots of bugs etc on the furniture like ants and also got terrible mosquito bites each night! Although not sure they could do much about this last one... Another minor thing - there were loads of random festivities going on in town which we luckily stumbled across (wine tasting, practice events for the rolling of the barrel etc.) but was not mentioned when we arrived so maybe a bit more information on the local events etc.
loved the location, the view on to Montepulciano, the green garden and the pool area, which we had for ourselves due to low season. Alberto gave fantastic guidance and was extremely helpful with special needs we had.
the breakfast was sad and the espresso coffee disappointing
beds were cozy. staff were friendly and nice pool .Alberto was nice and recommendated good places to eat
Ants everywhere .run down couch.
staff very friendly with lots of suggestions for dinner etc Room was lovely with a nice patio outside which we4 couldnt use due to the weather!
Pretty much nothing-the weather was lousy but the hotel couldnt help that
We loved it all-- the view, breakfasts, staff, pool, roses and lavender, olive trees and cooing doves.
We stayed in the cottage, private and relaxing. Alberto was a wonderful host.
the location is beautiful. The room is comfortable and large. Breakfast is delicious.Alberto takes good care of us. The staff is excellent. You cannot go wrong if you choose to stay in Relais San Bruno
Very good breakfast
No restaurant on the grounds
Very restful location. Alberto's breakfasts were wonderful. A thoroughly enjoyable 3 nights.
We arrived during a very cold evening! No problem red wine and a lovely in room fireplace waited for us! Staff was exceptional, grounds beautiful and breakfast was more than one could take in!
Absolutely superb from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. The setting is beautiful, very serene and with a wonderful relaxed ambience. Alberto was the most charming and welcoming host, and we noticed that every aspect of the hotel had been very carefully thought through to ensure no detail was overlooked. The rooms are dotted around the grounds, and our one (Number 6) had its own very private garden. Inside was spacious and beautifully presented. There were lovely little details like very high quality soaps and creams; a large spa bath plus a separate walk-in shower; a huge comfy bed and even our own WiFi router in the room. The breakfast room was bright and clean, with nicely chilled music playing every morning. we loved the fact that there was loads of parking, but it felt very secure thanks to the large electrically-controlled gates at the entrance and exit. A special mention also for the swimming pool; beautifully located amongst the grounds, with stunning views of the town - the ideal end to a hot day of eating, shopping and wine-tasting. It is a 20 minute walk (uphill!) into Montepulciano and Alberto will give you recommendations for the best places to eat and drink, which again were faultless. He also gave us some tips on arranging a wine tasting tour which we really enjoyed (Villa S. Anna is well worth visiting). Montepulciano is a wonderful place to visit, and in the four days we were there we still didn't get to experience everything it has to offer. We really couldn't fault any aspect of our stay at Relais San Bruno and will definitely be back as soon as we can!
It's only fair to mention that the walk into town is a fairly steep climb for around 20 minutes, so if you are not reasonably fit this may take it out of you a little. Having said that, you will doubtless be eating and drinking more than usual once you get up there, so this brief bit of exercise merely serves to balance up the calories a little! In practice it really isn't a problem and it is well worth it when you get there - you'll feel even better knowing you have earned that drink!
