Set between the Colosseum and Piazza Venezia, the Romano is a boutique hotel overlooking the Roman Fora. The rooms are uniquely decorated and set over 4 floors of a historic building.
Score from 464 reviews Excellent
I lived in Rome and have a good sense of what is on offer, so I half expected this was too good to be true. We needed a room for just one night, but we enjoyed our stay so much that we decided to spend two. All the staff were welcoming and the rooms were spacious and comfortable and tastefully decorated. It was also quiet, which may be because in August in Rome the city can be quite deserted, but with such an ideal location I was also pleasantly surprised.
The breakfast is basic. A few not-so-great cornetti and some Raisin Bran. Though service in the room is nice!
Carlotta is wonderful, the location is perfect, our room was clean and attractive, and the staff is kind and helpful.
Our room was relatively quiet, given its location in the middle of a major city, but we were able to hear some music from next door.
many stairs average breakfast often no staff available
This is not a full-service hotel but is a boutique facility with just 6 rooms. The rooms are spacious, quiet and very clean with modern renovated bathrooms. The staff are incredibly pleasant and helpful with great advice about seeing Rome and Italy. It is extremely well-located, a maximum of 15-20 minute walk to most places we wanted to visit in Rome. I highly recommend the Relais Teatro Argentina and will certainly plan to stay there again whenever I'm in Rome.
Just an FYI this seems more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel. Still, very nice, great staff, homey feel, will recommend to others.
Everything was amazing , and above all very nice people who worked there ,they where very helpful which made our stay even better , thanks for them :)
Nothing everything was nice
Warm hospitality and pleasant rooms! We enjoyed our stay very much and the location was perfect- we were able to walk around the city from our hotel and were 5 minutes from kosher food in the nearby Jewish ghetto.
Location is excellent in - walking distance to most major attractions. Lots of good restaurants close by. Room size was great, very spacious and very clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel arranged an airport pick up and drop off for us which was helpful. We were also able to check out very late as there was no one needing the room immediately after us. We rented bikes from a small bike shop close by (details were at the reception), and saw even more of the city. Just be careful of the crazy neighbour who rudely screamed at us for bringing the bikes into the communal area where the bins are at the entrance.
Some small features in the room (door handles, bathroom fixtures) need to be replaced/screwed down properly. Having a throw over the bed is a bit outdated and unhygienic (although it fitted with the room decor). There's a lot of noise from the street so you have to keep the windows closed at night. There's no lift, so if you're weak and feeble you may not want to climb 4 flights of stairs every time you come in or go out.
Location great for old Rome city centre, quiet room good size and Thomas provided excellent service
Paulo and Tomas were gracious hosts! The location was perfect for walking everywhere and the room was HUGE!
We loved this quiet little B&B. The staff was amazing. We lost our luggage and Carlotta helped us work with the airlines to track down our luggage. She even went as far to offer to bring my wife some clothes to wear until our luggage showed up. Thomas brought us breakfast to our room every morning. The room was clean and spacious. The location was amazing. We could walk everywhere. If we go back to Rome, we would definitely stay there again.
walking up 3 flights
double-paned windows to keep out noise;location;security
Location is great! Breakfast - in the room or on the common terrace - very good. This is a b&b on the 2nd floor of an old block, and once you get to the 2nd floor it's excellent, the rooms are large, well fitted out, clean and well serviced. However, although the booking photos show the plaza, the entrance to the building is a steel barred gate on a small side street which the taxi found tough to locate. The initial impression from the entrance gate is therefore not as expected.
Wifi worked, but only near reception, not in the room
The room was spacious and the bathroom well fit out. An excellent room in a great location.
Attractive decor, helpfulness of staff, cleanliness, great location
