Kitchen: there was no hot water, the kettle was full of green limescale (so we chose not to use it), and there were no cups for tea - only very small espresso cups. Bathroom: there was no shelf for toiletries in the shower, so you had to put them on the floor, a bathmat was provided only halfway into our stay, and 'toiletries provided' seems to mean some handwash, and two sachets of shower gel to get you started. Bedroom: no bedside lamps and only one spare pillow which had mould spots on. Living room: there were some lights broken, which we were told would be fixed in a day or two, but were still broken when we left after four days.
These are all quite small things in themselves, but we felt that they should be mentioned.
We liked the location of this apartment - at the north end of Ortigia, on the main road, with supermarket, bars, cafes and restaurants all very near, but also quite close to the bus and train stations - about 20 minutes walk. The apartment was fine. There's a lift, the bedroom was spacious with a high ceiling and doors onto a balcony looking out onto the main road onto the Ortigia island. It had a wardrobe, safe, small shelves beside the bed and a TV. The bed was reasonably comfortable.
In the living room there was a small kitchenette, sofa, table with chairs and TV. It had doors onto another balcony. The bathroom had a good shower with plenty of hot water.
Although we have some negative comments to make, on the whole we thought this apartment was good value for money and would recommend it, but think people should be aware of the negative points that we have mentioned.
