Residence Hotel La Giara    

Very clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast and the location were great. Nice and close to the port for early hydrofoil departures.

Bit of a bizarre empty atmosphere but that goes with low season. Was eaten alive by mosquitoes during the night. Didn't get much sleep and had bites all over my face the next day.

Perfect location, just 2 minutes walk after you get off the ferry. It is much better than staying near the other side of the center as this side is more quiet. The centre is only 5-10 mins walk. All cruise and excursions to other islands get off from that side. Excursions cost more but it is worth it as you see the hidden side of the islands where you cannot reach yourself unless you have a boat. Spacious room, clean and with kitchen facilities even though we didn't make use of it. The pool is great. After the hotels that I have stayed in Taormina and Cantania, this one is the best value and most comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a relaxing holiday. The fish restaurant out at the main street from the hotel is a good one. Another place is the restaurant right down at the port where the auto ferry is. Really good food and best service.

Relaxed Friendly atmosphere

Very helpful staff both at the reception and the restaurant. Very clean, convenient and comforatble room for a family of four. Extremely beautiful view over the bay area and the mountains

The hotel area is new and has almost no "greenery". There is no internet in the rooms only at the reception. The distance to nice beaches is more than 30 minutes drive as closeby beaches are not nice at all.

I stayed for a week with my husband, toddler and Mom at Residence Hotel La Giara. The location is perfect. It is steps from both the marina where the hydrofoil lets you off and from the main street in downtown Lipari yet totally quiet as it is set back from the street. It is also next to the bus stop that takes you anywhere else on the island and close to the supermarket. The breakfast is included and is good: coffee/tea/juice, breads, ham/cheese, yogurt and cereal. The staff are all friendly and very helpful with at least one person who speaks English fluently (Franklin was very, very kind and helpful). The pool is lovely with a nice outdoor shower and lounge chairs. The rooms are adequate with comfortable beds, a sitting area (depending on size of room) and kitchenette with mini-fridge/pots/dishes/cutlery and stove top espresso pot. Also has drying rack outside for hand washed clothes. Air conditioning and tv worked great as did black-out blinds. It was a bonus that although self-catering, daily maid service was included as are bath towels and toilet paper replenishment. We would stay there again.

The only cons were: we were only given one room key which was a bit inconvenient if the group didn't stay together to have to coordinate meeting up to get back inside the room. The wifi is only available near the lobby and not in the rooms. The maid service was appreciated but didn't leave the room spotless. The room decor was decent but definitely not luxury, it could use some updating to make it look fresh (couches looked 80's and the outdoor furniture had rust on it). It would have been nice to have some basics provided such as a small salt/pepper shaker and sugar as it was wasteful to have to buy a pound bag of salt and sugar at the market for one weeks stay. Overall was an excellent value for the price though.

The only improvable thing could be the breakfast, which was a bit limited, but more than adequate and supplied in generous quantity. Excellent "ladies-only" reception team, very helpful and knowledgeable.

Great location in a tranquil setting with a lovely relaxing pool area. Warm and friendly staff with good English. Clean and spacious studio with balcony area. Would highly recommend this hotel and would stay again.

Breakfast was a little limited with no fresh fruit, but typical by Sicilian standards.

Very friendly and helpful staff, claen and comfortable room with kitchenette, lovely pool and beautiful garden grounds situated a few minutes walk from the heart of Lipari. Quiet and very restful, a lovely place to stay.

The hotel was in a perfect location...close to shopping, the city center and public transportation. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. The accomodations were wonderful--rooms were large and roomy, comfortable and clean. I would definitely stay there again and would also highly recommend it to friends and family.

Hard to find fault with this hotel. Not the best breakfast perhaps but everything else was great. Having a pool when the beach was a bus ride away made all the difference. The staff were happy to help with anything they could and the rooms and public areas were very clean. No wifi access in rooms however.

Excellent location, steps away from the ferry port and shopping/restaurants. The room was very spacious, with 2 windows and a large balcony. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choices.

Very quiet llcation, with no roads immediately around the periphery of the hotel, swimming pool area very nice, fantastic bar man. Rooms are well equipped with a kitchennette and you can make yourself a hot cuppa first thing!

Swimming pool needs to be heated as it was freezing cold!

La ubicacion es muy buena, al lado del puerto. Dispone de un gran jardin y la piscina esta genial. Los apartamentos muy espaciosos. El servicio amable y el desayuno bueno. La isla es perfecta para recorrer las demas.

Si vous devez séjourner à lipari, choisissez sans hésiter l'hôtel giara, situé à proximité de l'embarquement pour les iles, du centre ville, etc... Même si le personnel ne parle pas français, il sait vous conseiller pour le choix des restaurants, et à votre écoute pour le petit- déjeuner. Sans aucun doute le meilleur qualité prix sur l'île.
