The Residence La Vetreria is situated in the historical centre of Catania, nearby the Castello Ursino. The hotel boasts a view enclosing the city roofs, the Etna volcano, reaching down to the sea.

You can walk down the heart of the city crossing the Pescheria, the ancient fish market located behind the Piazza Duomo. The building was a noble abode that from 1924 housed a glassworks factory. Hotel service enjoying the most homely intimacy and comfort.

Hotel information

The residence hotel La Vetreria, from the beginning of XX century, was an artistic mirror manifacture with the apatments of its owner's family on the upper floors.In 2003 it was refurbished keeping the cosy and friendly atmosphere of the sicilian houses belonging to that period. Alla the hand-made accessories show a special care. It is going to be a pleasant surprice discovering in the hall, a decorated altar, dedicated to Catania's patron Saint: Saint Agata. At the first floor, there are two wonderful drawing rooms with original frescos, whee take place meetings, parties in a subtle ammospere. A big terrace, facing on the big square of the medieval Ursino Castle, completes the big drawing rooms apartment.

Food & beverage

At La Vetreria breakfast is a special moment so that you will find every morning a rich buffet with cakes and croissants, baked bread with butter and marmelade, yogurth, cheese, short bread, fruit juices and owning the right season, fresh orange juice, capucinos, coffee, tea and more and more...Unfortunately we do not have a restaurant within our residence, but we will be glad to show you, if you desire to book, some typical restaurants, specialized in fish dishes, pubs and international restaurants. Really close to the residence La Vetreria, of course!

Room information

The residence La Vetreria is shared into 13 apartments with a total of 22 rooms. Also in these rooms, as in the whole house, you can notice a special care for details just to make the sty really comfortable. As in the past, the lamps, the curtains and hand-made cuscins make the already warm rooms, very charming and pleasant.

Area information

The Residence La Vetreria, is located in the historic centre of Catania, next to the medieval Ursino castle.
Walking around you can recognize the rich sicilian baroque in the palaces and monuments, the UNESCO patrimony. Passing through La Pescheria, the ancient market, behind the Dome where we can find the monument dedicated to the elephant, curious symbol of Catania.Keeping on walking you can admire the wonderful street full of churches, the Crociferi one, the greek theatre, the Dante's square where there's the great monastry of benedectines, today site of the University,admirable fountains,museums dedicated to the characters that with their art made our city famous:Vincenzo Bellini, Giovanni Verga, Emilio Greco.

The service ,and kind of the staff is one of the best I have had.

I consider the location very dangerous at night, since there is not parkin close to the hotel and the parking space they have is in a very dangerous positionbecause of the dark, far , and danger of the streets at night .besides you have to lift an iron cortin to put our car inside.

Ampiezza delle camere, vista, personale. Bravi!

La collocazione... In effetti è in centro storico, zona porto. Perfetto da raggiungere dall'aeroporto in taxi, ma poi si rimane un po' isolati dal centro vitale della città, soprattutto la sera.

Kostenfreier Internetzugang, das Frühstück war ein Büffet anstelle von Amerikanischem Frühstück, die größe des Zimmers ist bemerkenswert.

Die Einrichtung ist zwar in vielen Teilen erneuert worden aber die Sofas und Sessel sind aus den 60ern. Es roch in den Zimmern sowie der Umgebung des Hotels nach Fisch, dieser Duft dominierte besonders in dem Zimmer. Leider kein Safe im Zimmer. Restaurantempfehlungen konnten nicht ausgesprochen werden, angeblich sind alle Restaurants in der Umgebung empfehlenswert.
