An artistic gem, Padua (or Padova in Italian) seamlessly combines awe-inspiring heritage and a modern vibe. Counting Galileo among its former tutors, the University has the world’s oldest UNESCO World Heritage-listed botanical garden.
Across the road is huge Prato della Valle, a green square with a canal lined by 78 statues, and home to a Saturday market. A market is also held in squares near to Palazzo della Ragione whose multilevel arches and vaulted wood ceiling are an impressive sight. Cobbled, portico streets lead to the finely-crafted Gran Loggia and clock tower.
Every church has incredible décor, but the most famous is Saint Anthony of Padua, featuring the bones of the saint, an impressive 7 cupolas and 4 cloisters. The square in front has a statue by Donatello. Padua Cathedral's simple exterior houses amazing frescoes inside the baptistery by Giotto, creator of the jewel in Padua’s crown – the Scrovegni Chapel. His 14th century frescoes there have been meticulously restored to be as vibrant as the day they were painted.
The closest airport is Venice Marco Polo, but before you head there from your Padua hotel, apartment or B&B take time to enjoy the narrow streets around Palazzo del Bò or the Jewish district.

Padova is a fabulous city for people who like history, art, architecture, and culture. It is easy to move around the city on foot, and the city bus service is cheap, frequent, reliable and comfortable for places further out. The large student population makes for a very vibrant atmosphere, as do the outdoor markets in the piazzas.
The Scrovegni Chapel and Basilica of St Anthony are outstanding places to visit, but if you have time, tour the University. It is an inspiring experience to stand where giants of science, medicine and philosophy developed the ideas that shaped the world. Here you can see the lectern from which Galileo taught mathematics, and the world's first anatomy and dissection theatre, as well as lecture halls where the walls are covered with plaques commemorating famous alumni.

Recommend University Tour, Scrovegni Chapel, and the Basilica of St Anthony. Baptistery of the Duomo was just incredible. Renaissance architecture of the city is stunning.
Enjoyed the small bars for Aperitivo
I will stay for a longer period next time

Padua is a really handy and lovely place to stay in between Verona and Venice, so you can pay slighlty less for accomodation there and then take day trips to Verona (1 hr train ride away) or Venice (45 minutes away).
The food was, on average, much better and cheaper in padua than Venice.

We stayed in Padova only one night, arriving around 5 pm.
We stayed in Padova only one night, arriving around 5 pm. We found lots and lots of places that served sandwiches and coffee/beer/wine but, in contrast to Udine, we had a hard time finding restaurants with real food. I would not go back.

Recommend a walking tour to give you a good idea of the city. Amazing sights with every turn. Easy to find traditional restaurants plus plenty of supermarkets for those staying in apartments. We used the train station to visit other places of interest which was easy to use though has plenty of assistance.if needed. Easy to walk around Padova using your map.

Padova is a city with alot of character with excellent transport links to Venice and other cities in Northern Italy. It takes 30 mins on the train in to Venice. It takes approximately 1 hour to the airport by bus.
Padova has plenty of cafes , restaurants, shops and supermarkets. It has churches and parks you can visit.
The coffee is great value and good to drink. The food market is especially good.
Very friendly people and well worth visting for a few days .
The view is absolutely incredible. Very nice spot to stay, as everything is close and you have great connection to many transportation. We could park even with a huge 3.5 ton van next to the place. Staff was very friendly, understanding, kind, and fast. The place was really quiet, so you can rest well. Its easily accessible by anyone, as the place has a huge elevator directly to the hotel rooms from the ground floor. If you are in Padova, you must book a room ( or more :D ).
This was our favorite accommodation of a three week trip travelling throughout Italy. First of all, imagine staying in part of a renovated palace for two nights for a reasonable price. Our hosts were so welcoming and helpful. Our large apartment was scrupulously clean and fully equipped. The location is a perfect starting point for the sites of old Padua, especially the incredible Scrovegni Chapel. We were also served a scrumptious breakfast in an elegant dining room.
we couldn't find better place in Padova. in the heart of the old city, with really good conditions inside, and what most important, with very kind and helpful host of the hotel - Susi.
together with her daugther they provide everything which is expected by visitors. so we've really sorry, that we only spent one day at that place.
so if You plan to visit Padova, definitely You could choose Casa Battisti for stay (and definitely longer than one night). Thank You Susi!
We stayed at Albergo Junior for two nights on our return from Southern Italy. We came with our own car and parking was not a problem. Albergo Junior is conveniently located to explore the major highlights of the city by foot or bus. The owner is friendly and helpful, our room was spacious and convenient, the breakfast was o.k. The atmosphere in the hotel is very personal. We can recommend Albergo Junior for a stay to explore Padua.
The hotel is located on a side street off the major piazzas, a little complicated to get to by car. I called the hotel, and they talked us through directions and got to hotel easily.
The room was a nice size, clean with plenty of drawer space and closet space.
The staff was extremely accommodating and helpful.
Breakfast was plentiful with nice choices.
Hotel is within walking distance of all the piazzas and shopping.
The staff were fantastic! From the moment we walked in, they made our (rather large) group feel so welcome. Anytime I got to walk past reception was great. I'm not a huge fan of wine, but if they'd had more options at the bar, I might've just hung out at the hotel and not explored anymore of Padova! You guys really contributed to us having an amazing trip, and I will definitely be returning to Padova as soon as I possibly can.
We liked the environment, quiet and calm. We liked the new room ( after asking for a replacement because of the smell in the first bedroom). We liked the director, who could communicate clearly and he was very helpful and his assistant as well. The breakfast was good, but, it was weird a hotel in Italy doesn't have grape juice as an option. Mainly because the hotel is based in the countryside. We liked it overall.
Hotel Paramount is a lovely hotel l, in a nice neighborhood about a 15 minute walk from the main piazza, Piazza dei Signori. Our room was comfortable, modern, with a good sized bathroom and shower and fluffy towels. The bed was large and comfortable. The breakfast was ample, with cereals, ham and cheese, yogurt, pastries (including some vegan). Cappuccinos were available. Wonderful hotel. We enjoyed our stay.
The hotel room is quite big, with all facilities and extremely clean. The management is very friendly, offering a lot of details about what you can visit in Padova and nearby.
One might argue that the location is far away from the center of the city, which is true, but you have a bus station 2 minutes away from the hotel, which is very convenient.
Per total, a very good experience!
We stayed in two of the hotels facilities as we extended our stay. Both were superb. The man who looked after us was great. We would certainly use this hotel again next time in Venice aa it's such an easy train ride from Padova straight into Venice. There were also great restaurants nearby.
An amazing room for a short stay in Padova. The room was clean and had a modern style. The heater worked, so we didn't freeze in this cold autumn. Near the hotel, we found some cafes with delicious food. Additionally, just a few steps from the hotel are situated Padova's main attractions.
Very nice staff members and receptionist. The room was clean. The location is perfect (a few minutes away from the Padova city center ; just a minute away from the train station that can bring you wherever you want in Italy.) Great value for the €. I recommend it.
Everything was perfect, clean and comfortable room, very good location, kind staff and open buffet diversified breakfast. Highly recommend, will book it again, not just in Padua but also in Rome and Brescia as it has branches all over Italy. Good luck🤞
The hotel was in a very nice area just across from the magnificent basilica, as well as a short walk from the town centre. The staff were friendly and helpful, and my room was comfortable and well air conditioned. For the price, it was excellent value.
We booked the hotel for a short stay. Crowne Plaza Padova Hotel is very comfortable and the service is very friendly and helpful. For the next visit in Padova we will book the Crowne Plaza Padova Hotel again.
Located across from the train station, 1/2 hour train ride to Venice. Newly renovated hotel, great Italian-English speaking manager Alex who was very efficient and helpful!
Everything about the hotel was amazing. I've been to a lot of hotels in my trips (3-5 star hotels) and I've never seen toothbrush and toothpaste bathroom amenities.
