Hotel precioso con una ubicación inmejorable en el Sassi Barisano. Habitación/apartamento con maravillosas vistas del Sassi y perfecto para descubrir este prodigio del hombre.

Debe mejorar el mantenimiento y conservación de las instalaciones así como su limpieza A pesar de este aspecto un poco negativo, el hotel merece ser recomendado por su privilegiada situación

Está en un lugar excepcional, es como si uno estuviera en el sasso hace miles de años , pero con todo el confort, excelente, relación calidad precio excelente, altamente recomendable.

La cama tendría que ser mejor, y excesiva calefacción.

Good experience to stay in Sassi. Scenery from the hotel terrace was outstandintg.

The rooms was cold and wet. But I think this is normal in Sassi hotel. The room smelled musty.

Location was great, but everything else was a nightmare. From the grumpy old owner, to the infestation of ants, to the barking hotel dog all night, to the musty, dirty smell of the room.....had we not prepaid for this room on booking.com, we would have left and gone to another hotel. It was awful and the service was poor at best and the owners very rude. Will not recommend this place to anyone!

the hotel is in a wonderful location, right in the historic sassi of Matera. the staff could not have been more helpfull, even upgrading my room when the wi fi didn't work in the one that i was originally given.

nearly everything, but we stayed only one night in October and the weather was also excellent - warm, but not hot. Our "cave" was very large which was good for sleep. We liked a good restaurant next door to our "cave" with a possibility sit on a terrace and another "underground" cave. So romantic ! View from the terrace is amazing!

We were lucky with a choice of "caves", but first one which has been shown to us- tiny room with a narrow spiral stairecase leading to a bed-place was definitely not for mature couple.

The food was good in the restaurant. Breakfast was a bit sparse. Lots of sweets but little else. Very accommodating about extra excellent cappacino. The setting was unique Vincenzo found us a very good private guide who spoke excellent English and she gave us valuable insight into Matera

The room/apartment was reasonably sized and had an excellent bathroom. Unfortunately because of the cave setting the room was very damp and the dehumidifier only ran when you were in the room and thus could not keep up. This may be typical of Matera. Some people might find the lack of daylight a problem San Pietro is very difficult to find. The dampness means that anyone with significant lung issues should give this place a pass or plan one day at most. The concept of a hotel in a cave is really quite special but the execution is problematical.

Ideal location in Sassi. Good feeling of "being the real thing". There is a parking provided next to the place, which in Matera is a big plus.

As the room is completely enclosed you depend on aircon - and I personally don't like aircon switched on - hence minus for comfort. One point - the arrival map shown by booking.com is completely wrong - there is no way through Stigliani. Car access is from other side - one has to turn from Sitgiliani to Via Piave and follow signs and on final strech go up with way "No Entry" sign for parking lot.

Located in a absolutely beautiful area of the Sassi with a delicious restaurant and helpful friendly owner. Very nice size apartment.

There was a dampness in the bedding which was a bit uncomfortable but ok for the one night.

This was a fascinating and unique experience. To sleep in a cave, and yet with modern facilities was a great part of the holiday. We were looked after well by our host who came to meet us in the middle of Matera when we couldn't find the right way to the bed and breakfast (our fault - it isn't difficult to find). He was on hand to help with our enquiries and to help us to make the most of our visit. Matera and the Sassi are well worth the visit and we would recommend staying at the Residence San Pietro

We experienced staying in a Sasso. The Sasso was clean, comfortable, and spacious. We were very surprised at the luxury. We also enjoyed the restaurant at the Residence San Pietro Barisano.

We enjoyed everything.

Good-value cave-rooms... short walk to all sights...

The room/apartment we got was clean and modern and there is parking available if you're driving. Breakfast was good, but it was lots and lots of bread (no fruit, yogurt, meat, etc.)

The hotel itself is well marked by signs, but reception is located away from where you can drive your car. The hotel staff seemed preoccupied with other things when I arrived and at first opened a room smaller than what I had originally booked (it was corrected). The room we rented was described as a one bedroom apartment, but there were no kitchen facilities (though there were small refrigerators in each room). This hotel isn't terrible by any stretch, but our experience was less than stellar.

Delightful, beautiful, amazing and unusual luxury accommodation in a cave! Matera is a fascinating town and this accommodation is in the heart of the best part.

Interesting design, cave/rock-house, very comfortable and spacious with kitchen area and large bathroom with tub. Wonderful views from terrace. Great location for exploring the old city. Staff were pleasant tho English limited and seemed to have trouble finding my reservation. Nice friendly little family dog, felt like a home. Good food at restaurant, tho breakfast very limited (sweet pastries only, no plain breads), some fruit would be nice.
