Hotel itself was closed but they had Deluxe appartements available in a good price Big flat ( living room, bed room, kichen and two balconies, WC and bath ) on a top floor with exellent views accross mediterranean and old city Tropea Lovely sunset

Took a while to understand how to use the heating system at night

Grerat, central location in Tropea old town. Easy walk to all shopping and eating. Tons of restaurants and shopping within one minute walk. Nice breakfast on roof top patio which works as long as weather is OK. We rented a 2 room apt which was comfortable and roomy which we like vs a single room.

You have to climb many flights of Stairs to get to rooms and breakfast. No elevator! Not recommended for elderly or those in less than good shape. TV didn't work and request went unanswered. However, small staff are fairly nice and probably would have responded if I badgered them. Tropea is a serious beach town and if you doing the beach is most important to you, understand that acees to the beach involves some serious walking down clifside stairs and worst if you have to walk back up! This could be remedied with a short cab ride I guess. We didn't go for beach season. Be sure to be very through in your questioning of ammenities. Our 2 BR apt said it had 2 bathrooms. But a toilet was only in the upstairs bathroom, the other bathroom was only a shower and sink so those in the downstairs bedroom had to hike up to use the toilet.

When first found the building in the very heart of the old Tropea center we were a pit schoked as ther was no receptrion downstairs and the inner yard was dark and not so clean. But when getting up to the 3rd floor, where the hotel is located everything was fine. Very friendly staff, nice and clean room offering perfect views. Breakfast was served at the roof top balcony and this was certainly the top breakfast feeling during our trip this time. Beautiful beach is close by walk or by car and offers fantastic bathing experiences.

There is no lift and You have to be ready to carry Your staff to the 3rd floor. But staff was happy to help!

It has terrific character and is in the perfect location for discovering Tropea.

Excellent location, wonderfully decorated rooms with a terrific breakfast on their outdoor patio. staff speaks enough english to avoid using your hands.

Hard to find, you will need to ask a number of times as you make your way to the street from the train station. The hotel has a small sign on the "open" door that is easy to miss. Had to ask at a nearby restaurant and be guided back to the door. Once inside, there is a large unstaffed reception desk on the main floor. You have to ascend a couple of floors to find the reception person at the "staffed" desk. Once you complete this mission, you will be extremely satisfied at this wonderful oasis.

We had reserved the "Apartment with Sea View for 4 adults" located around the block from the main hotel site of Residenza Il Duomo. We never saw the inside of any of the main hotel rooms as they were all filled. I can only report on the apartment in which we were to stay. Entrance is at the end of an alley that is damp and smells of urine. There was no air conditioning, only several fans. A very large window on the main floor of the apartment helped with air circulation, except that it was screenless, approximately 2 feet from the ground and opened into the smelly alley. Leaving the window open was like leaving the door open. Downstairs had the "Sea View", but only if you stepped out onto the balcony and looked off to the left. Sleeping for the 4 adults consisted of two queen beds. OK for couples or children, but not so great for my brother and brother-in-law who weren't prepared to share a bed. There was a rollaway bed in a corner, but we were told by hotel staff that there was no mattress or sheets for it. All of this combined with the parking challenge, the multiple flights of stairs required to bring suitcases up to the hotel location and to come and go to the beach made us decide to pay the cancellation fee (the cost of one nights stay) and to find another spot...which we did. We travel in Italy alot, love the older towns, and enjoy walking (stairs too) all over. This apartment was the first time we've ever decided to hand over money and walk away. We ended up staying in a dreamy spot, right on the sand, in Capo Vaticano, so...it was worth it!

The staff were absolutely amaxing, the room was sensational as was the location and above al the view from the balcony where you eat breakfast was priceless. Thank you to all the wonderful staff; we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Tropea and will be returning.

Location was excellent, close to restaurants, shopping and duomo. Short walk, though lots of steps to beach, we also walked to the port about 5 minutes away. Very atmospheric surroundings, great character to the old building. We had a wonderful View of the Duomo and street life from our small balcony. We found the bed to be very comfortable with a firm mattress which suited us. Most important... Excellent hot shower. Terrace was wonderful for an authentic Italian breakfast, delicious, fresh and plentiful. We also used the terrace to enjoy a bottle of wine in the afternoon ( which we had purchased earlier in the day from the town centre.) Service was great. Alfredo arranged a complimentary taxi service from Tropea train station which was much appreciated. All staff we encountered were very hospitable.

We liked everything, but some people may be disturbed by church bells which began ringing at 6.30am

no botttle opener no towels (paper/cloth) in kitchen dead end area outside, adjacent to left side of apartment where the patio doors opened,...strong smell of urine and was occupied by noisy people drinking alcohol at night,...felt unsecure leaving patio doors open at night accessable from outside.

Our room was great - except that there were no screens on the bedroom window - felt a lilttle unsafe at night. The breakfast and staff were fantastic and very accommodating

The location is unbeatable, the room was nice for the price, and the staff was friendly. If I were to stay in Tropea again, I would definitely choose to stay at the same hotel.

Charming old building. Cool courtyard. Beautifull room overlooking the duomo. Lovely roof terrace for breakfast.

No problem for us but realise that there are stairs involved

Tropea is a lovely town on a hill overlooking the sea, full of characterful buildings and cobbled streets. Many steps down to the sea, but worth it - crystal clear azure water for swimming in. Lots of great places to eat nearby, full of atmosphere and excellent value (the town itself boasts 100 pizzerias alone - I can well believe it! But they have excellent pastas and local fish dishes too). The B&B is conveniently near a couple of quaint piazzas and historic old centre. We had one of the hotel's apartments on ground level, just round the corner from the main B&B - perfect for our needs as a family of 4: 2 adults, 2 grown up children on an overnight stay. Really nice converted old building. The owner was excellent, had good English and arranged complimentary transport next morning to the railway station hotel.

Not strong dislikes, rather points to take into account: The main reception is on 3rd floor, with no lift. We are fit; also staying in one of apartments, so didn't bother us - but worth noting for those less agile. However, I would have to say that the owner would help with bags. The place is a good 10-15 minute walk from the train station with luggage across cobbled streets, but again see above - when leaving the owner organised transport for us.

We did not stay in the main building. They gave us a 2 floor small apartment. It was amazing. Very central location, beautiful view , very clean. It was basicaly a small 2 floor apartment. That was lovely . If I go to Tropea again, this is the only place I would like to stay

PArking is not available, but if you are in Tropea this is quite normal

Nice room with a great view. Very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast setting upon the roof is amazing. Breakfast was good, great cappuccino ! Tropea is a lovely town and Calabria a great region. And if you learn and speak some basic Italian, that will give you a big advantage. Don't expect everybody to speak English, but people will try their best to help you out the best they can. Very good B & B, highly recommendable !

People who can 't do many stairs are better of somewhere else. 3 high and no elevator.

Great accomodation, very comfortable and spacious room which outways the negatives (just). Parking nearby, plenty of restaurants to choose from (try Il Convivio just 20 metres away from front door). Great location in the old town.

Accommodation is alittle difficult to find due to lack of signage in surrounding streets and is up 50 stairs, so pack lightly. Breakfast was ok, but it appears it is always served on the roof terrace, which has great views, but on cold wet morning there is a need to wear a jacket and to hold down anything likely to blow away.

Die hervorragende Betreuung unserer vierköpfigen 60 bis 78jährigen "Reisegruppe" durch ausnahmslos alle Hotelbediensteten. Selbst die 54 Steinstufen hoch in die Zimmer (ohne Aufzug) und die etwas umständliche Anreise durch die verkehrsberuhigte Zone Tropeas, auf der man nette Bekanntschaft mit der örtlichen polizia stradale machen kann, können den insgesamt höchst positiven Eindruck nicht schmälern. Das italien-untypische, sehr abwechslungsreiche Frühstück auf der Dachterrasse, von der aus man einen tollen Blick aufs westliche Mittelmeer hat, entschädigte ebenfalls für die bei der An- und Abreise auszuführenden Sporteinlagen. Ein Top-Angebot, das wir jederzeit wieder in Anspruch nehmen würden.

Lage sehr gut u. zentral, kurze Wege zu Strand und Zentrum, Parkplatz ohne Gebühr gleich li um die Ecke (Treppe ca. 80 Stufen abwärts) Zimmer- u.Badgröße sehr gut Frühstück auf Terrasse Frühstück (z. T. Pizza vom Vortag) teilweise gewöhnungsbedürftig aber außergewöhnlich (selbstgemachte Erbsen u. Kuchen etc.)

Hotel im 3. + 4. Etage, kein Aufzug, kein Hinweis auf Lobby o. Weg dorthin, beim Betreten des Hauseinganges

wunderschönes dachgeschoßzimmer; bad/wc sehr sauber! tolle dachterrasse zum frühstücken; frühstück wird serviert (für italien sehr reichhaltig!!!) würd jederzeit wieder kommen!!

L'emplacement de l'hôtel est fabuleux. Le balcon de l'hôtel pour les petits déjeuners nous permet d'apprécier le panorama.
