Offering panoramic views of Saint Peter's Square from its rooftop terrace, Residenza Paolo VI is actually a former monastery. It is located next to the Vatican walls in the heart of Rome. Rooms have a classic design with tiled or hardwood floors and elegant rugs. All air conditioned, they also feature an LCD TV with satellite channels and free Wi-Fi. Each one has a private bathroom with hairdryer. Breakfast at Paolo VI is a large American buffet that is available until 10:30 am. Drinks and snacks can be enjoyed up on the terrace, which has a bar service until midnight. This has great views of the Apostolic Palace, the Pope's official residence, where an address is given every Sunday. The Residenza is a 5 minute walk from the Tiber River and Castel Sant'Angelo. It has excellent bus and metro services around Rome, with the 40 Express bus stopping nearby. Hotel Rooms: 35

The location is excellent, right by the Vatican, not far from a metro station and close to a taxi station as well. The staff were very nice and very helpful. Breakfast was good, american style buffet. The hotel is neat, extremely clean and quiet. The airco worked very well. As a bonus there is a lovely terasse on the 2nd floor that can be used at any time of the day until midnight ( bar service is only from 16:00 to midnight). Sunday morning we sat out on the terrasse and could hear the choir from the Vatican singing, it was really special ! The standard room + bathroom were impeccable but on the negative side (see the section below) rather small. We really liked the hotel but have to say that we were surprised by how small the room was, even if I had read it from other travelers. We had a standard room, it was tiny and so was the bathroom. We paid 189€ per night for that tiny room so I would say that the ratio value for money was not so good. I would still recommend this hotel but my advice would be to book only it if the rate was reasonable (E.G. around130€) considering for the size of the standard room & bathroom.

The hotel staff was very friendly and its location its ideal for an early start in the Vatican. Rooms are extremely small. The hotel is really a residence and it feels more like a well done place for cheap budgets, nevertheless, it was not cheap at all. I decided to cancel most of my stay there as I could find hotels for the same price and double the space. What you really pay here is the location next to the Vatican, but personally I think is not worth the money.

There was so much to love about Residenza Paolo VI but the best has to be the location beside the Vatican City and St. Peter's basilica! The staff was incredibly helpful with arranging airport transportation, Papal Audience tickets and even an electrical adapter we forgot and they were most friendly as well, from the desk personnel to the Bernini Room staff. Every morning we received a page slipped beneath our door that didn't list the daily happenings in Rome, but something far more important to us: the daily scripture readings. Small touches like that, combined with the friendly and helpful staff made our short visit one of the most memorable of our lives! We will definitely stay there every chance we get! We were traveling and didn't have a cell phone that could work in Italy so were hoping to use Skype to contact our familiy with our travel plans but Skype was blocked by the hotel's servers as was my Outlook e-mail.

Deluxe double room was quiet and away from the road as it led to a interior courtyard. Furnishings were luxury and comfortable The standard Double Room we had booked was very small and we could hardly move so we upgraded to a deluxe double. The price for both the standard double and deluxe double was very expensive for what it was.

It is in a very good location and clean hotel. Pay attention to its religious thematic, but still can be very charming if you stay for couple days and like to see Vatican. Terrace is nice but you can seat only in a small limited area and you can’t access whole balcony.

I had travel plans to visit Naples, but there was a change of plans. The staff was excellent in helping me stay in a nicer room and allowed me to view the room with my fiancee. We both loved the room and decided to stay an extra night. We both were very pleased with Sabrina how she helped us according to our needs. She offered suggestions on where to visit. Sabrina also booked our tickets to visit the Vatican and printed them out for us. It was a great pleasure staying at your hotel. Sabrina was a big part of that reason too. The morning breakfast could have had different items to eat per day. Or could have a little more variety.

This Hotel is the best on all aspects, food, service, location etc. If I will come back to Rome I will definitely take this Hotel again. They have friendly staffs and receptionists. I will rate this Hotel 10/10...I really loved the balcony where you can eat and drink while looking at St.Peter's Cathedral. It is close to Restaurants, specially Chinese Rest..The Small double room that we rented was enough for me, my wife and 2 yr.old baby..I asked for extra pillows and they gave me quickly. I suggest to all of you to take this Hotel. The waiter at the bar was also friendly, he introduced me to their local redwine, and it tastes so great...

Our experience of this fine hotel exceeded all expectations. The staff were very helpful, allowing us to check in early and offering to hold our baggage after we checked out for a few hours until we left town. The hostess was also very helpful in recommending a restaurant, printing museum ticket, and assisting us in making a restaurant reservation.

Perfect location for Basilica St. Peters and Vatican. Small, unhurried, casual, friendly, family atmosphere. We were a family of seven occupying 4 rooms. Everyone felt positive on the location. The rooms we had were small, but they do have junior suites which are larger. When we travel room size is not important. As long as the room is clean and quiet, adequate privacy achieved, the electricity, heater and air conditioning function, bathrooms are clean, staff is helpful and location affords ready accessibility to sites and is not outrageously priced then all our needs are met. The Residenza Paolo vi fulfilled these requirements.

The location was excellent for our visit to Rome as it is very close to the Vatican. It is very easy to find as it can be seen from St Peter's Square. The staff were exceedingly helpful and very friendly. Beds were very comfortable. Food was excellent. We felt very safe at this hotel and would be delighted to stay there again. (Reply written by Mary who organised the holiday and made the bookings online for Hannah.)

This hotel is extremely close to the Vatican and St Peter's is literally across the road. The view from the terrace is phenomenal. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Very approachable! The room was very small, but we were hardly there so it didn't matter at all!! The terrace is also small but the view made up for that. It would be nice to be able to utilise the whole of the terrace but it is fenced off.

It was a lovely quiet, safe and peaceful oasis in the middle of the hubub of St. Peter'S. The terrace with it's spectacular view of St. Peter's Basilica nearby always provided a quiet evening respite for us to enjoy a light supper and or an evening cocktail. The staff was helpful, friendly and professional.Breakfast was excellent.

The location to visit Vayican is perfect, great terrace, friendly and helpful stuff. The only negative experience is that they offer the services of the worst tour operator in Rome, Carrani Tours, disgrace for the Rome tour industry.
