Residenza Porta Guelfa    

Fantastic manager - Michael broke Italian law for us by having the heat turned back on out of season!! Loved the nespresso coffee machine in the room so much we bought one! Fantastic location a short walk to the walled village of Bevagna. One of the best hotels we stayed at.

No heat the first night That we did not book more nights there.

The short walk to the old town of Bevagna, the central location to explore the rest of Umbria. The quality of the accomodation is very good

Very clean, comfortable and nice bedroom, lots of space, good breakfast service, beautiful gardens, proximity to Bevagna and surrounding cities. It wasn't like staying in a typical hotel room, we really felt at home here! Overall excellent atmosphere and hospitality. We were sorry to leave!!

Bring earplugs if you are used to sleeping in absolute silence, there can be occasional cars passing by early in the morning (but I am particularly sensitive, my wife had no problems whatsoever).

This property, just outside the old city walls of Bevagne, is a perfect location from which to explore most of the heart of Umbria. While we were only here two nights, one could easily stay a week, venturing out each day to a different set of small towns. The rooms are excellent, and the kitchen facilities great. One could easily cook here and store things for lunches. The owner is exceptionally helpful and will do everything possible to make your stay perfect.

Very friendly owner, pleasant guests, good location just outside the old town, bikes make it easy to get around and get back from eating and drinking in town.

The manager Michael runs this small hotel in the most friendly and efficient way with great attention to detail. He is extremely helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is served in your room and is huge - enough for lunch as well! 5 minutes walk from Bevagna - an hidden gem in Umbria. A lovely town with many beautiful buildings and an excellent base for touring all the major towns in the area. Lovely gardens and swimming pool with great views of the town,

Michael,the owner is very genuine,friendly and helpful.He gave us his personal recommendation for local restaurant and we absolutely love it! The local atmosphere,away from tourist trap make this place more special! We also used the facility of free bike to go cycling to Assisi and it was very pleasant ride.although next time we would like to cycle further to other villages and it looks like proper mountain bike would be needed.Michael informed us that proper mountain bike could be rented from Perugia and they would deliver to Bevagna. The swimming pool and the jacuzzi was very nice touch,after long day on the bike! :-)) Breakfast was delivered to our apartment on time and it was fresh local product...very delicious!! Thank you Michael for looking after us...we will definitely come back again!

The host could not have been nicer and more willing to help. He really created the atmosphere there.

The hotel wasn't particularly charming and there was nowhere to eat other than room service for breakfast.

We loved staying here as it turned out to be a little apartment with a bedroom and a living room with a kitchenette area. We also had our own little balcony which was lovely. Breakfast is brought to you in the apartment at whatever time you ask for it and we used it to have it on our balcony every morning. The owner of the hotel was charming and friendly and ready to help in any way he could and his English was good too. The pool was inviting and set in a nice, amazingly green garden. It was a popular place for families but we are a middle-aged couple and it was just as suitable for us. The hotel is set just outside the walls of the pretty medieval town of Bevagna which is less than 5 minutes walk away. There are bicycles you can borrow at will to explore the area and, unusually, Bevagna itself is on the flat so it's easy to bike around. This area of Umbria is really beautiful with breathtaking panoramic views everywhere you go. Lots of interesting and lovely places to visit like Montefalco, Spello, Spoleto and of course Assisi and Perugia. Bevagna is full of nice eating places too and is a real place with real Italians living there, whereas some of the local towns (such as Assisi) are fabulous, but entirely composed of tourists/visitors.

The road that the house is on is not particularly attractive (though not too busy) and at the moment there's a new house being built just opposite so it's a building site. However, the garden that Residenza Porta Guelfa is set in is very nice and you don't really see the road from it. We were very lucky to have our own private balcony but I think some of the ground floor rooms did not have one, so it's worth asking for one of the upstairs rooms with its own balcony when booking. I'd like to come back here.

My new husband and I stayed in Residenza Porta Guelfa during the second week of our two week honeymoon in Italy and found everything about the place just perfect! It was an ideal setting, beautiful area and gorgeous manicured gardens around the buildings and swimming pool. It was a perfect venue to relax in, to spend a few days lying around the pool - and also a perfect base to explore the region from. We visited Spello, Assisi and Perugia while staying in rpg. And the little town of Bevanga is really lovely too. We were happy to stroll up there every evening to discover more of the town's delicious restuarants. Michael our host in rpg is a great man to have on hand. He made every guest feel so welcome and invited us to use all and any of the facilities available. And no request we made was left unanswered or unattended to. I was genuinely sad to say good bye to him and to the the area at the end of our week there. While we are a couple, there was also families staying there with young children, some with teenagers and some older couples too - and I would imagine that it was as ideally suited to all the others as it was to us. O and our room had a four poster bed!! And you get a freshly prepared breakfast delivered to your room every morning - oh and it was not just a room - more like an apartment, with a separate sitting room and kitchen with all you might need on a holiday - a fridge, grill, hob, kettle and bottle opener! If you like exploring new places, relaxing, enjoy the bestest of food and wine - you can not go wrong staying here. I would recommend it 100%!

There is nothing at all I could fault about Residenza Porta Guelfa - it was bliss!

For anyone looking for outstanding top-shelf accommodation in Umbria, look no further than Michele's Residenza Porta Guelfa. Michele met us at the gate of this exclusive compound & very proudly showed us to & around our room (more like appartment!). Eveything about rpg is perfect, lawns are manicured & not a thing out of place & rooms are immaculate. Michele was most helpful, doling out helpful information & sound advice; the staff were courteous & helpful & no request was too difficult. Our rating for this establishment is definetely 10 out of 10.

Despite the fantastic views, and the amazing sounds of nature, the host, Micheali made our stay special. He is a warm, engaging man who went out of his way to make sure we were accommodated beyond our expectations. This included personally delivering breakfast to our room. The location of the hotel is perfect. It is a 4 minute walk to the walled ancient city of Bavagna. Adjacent to the resort, expansive vineyards provide the perfect setting for a nature walk. Finally, the location is well situated as a base for daily excursions by car to neighboring cities.

I cannot think of a single disappointment

Very friendly staff, big comfortable appartment and nice breakfast in the room. Bicycles are available (there is a very nice cycling lane all the way to Spoletto). The location is quiet, but in one minute you are in the centre of Bevagna.

Il posto e assolutamente stupendo. Si nota la cura a i minimi dettagli. Le suite sono di un confort fantastico. E il centro benessere e piscina sono stupendi. Come descrivere un soggiorno da sogno?...residenza porta guelfa. E poi l'accoglienza e eccezionale e la propietaria simpaticissima. Assolutamente da 10+. Consigliatissimo

Paradijs in Umbrië Geweldige locatie om het mooie Umbrië te ontdekken. De residentie ligt op 100 meter buiten het schilderachtige en levendige dorpje Bevagna, waar diverse restaurantjes aanwezig zijn. De luxe kamers zijn Italiaans ingericht met oog voor detail. De airco houdt de temperatuur op een aangenaam niveau. De vriendelijke en goed gebekte (spreekt engels) eigenaar, die er alles aan doet om het zijn gasten naar hun zin te maken, brengt elke morgen op de afgesproken tijd een lekker ontbijt op de kamer. De vers gemaakte croissants zijn vaak nog warm. Het zwembad geeft een frisse verkoeling na een dag cultuur snuiven. Voor de liefhebber staat ook nog een bubbelbad en een sauna ter beschikking. Wij hielden contact met het thuisfront via de aanwezige wifi. Voor ons was Porto Guelfa een schot in de roos en zeker voor herhaling vatbaar.

Struttura molto accogliente e tranquilla. Posizione strategica con Bevagna paesino molto carino con una buona cucina e a pochi chilometri da Assisi. I gestori della struttura disponibili e sempre presenti.

All'ingresso della residenza la prima cosa che colpisce sono gli ampi spazi verdi curati nei minimi dettagli,la cortese accoglienza del signor Michele che con fare gentile ti mette subito a tuo agio,la suite da noi prenotata era arredata e curata nei minimi particolari,luogo che offre relax e cortesia di altri tempi.In attesa di essere di nuovo ospiti della residenza auguriamo a chi legge questa recensione di vivere le nostre stesse sensazioni...Carlo e Angela...

L'accoglienza, molto discreta ma efficiente, la vicinanza del posto al paese e nello stesso tempo il silenzio e la tranquillità'. Ci tornò volentieri e la consiglio.

Il tempo piovoso ma non se ne può fare una colpa a nessuno.

Ormai la gentilezza e la cortesia del sig. Michele sono famosi in tutta Italia, è una persona che ti fa sentire a casa tua e non in un albergo, anche se Porta Guelfa non è un albergo, bensì una via di mezzo tra un residence e un agriturismo, insomma qualcosa di nuovo che va provato....provate sereni, non ve ne pentirete.
