Residenza Castiglioni is the right place to discover Florence and to enjoy the great opportunity of living in the historic atmosphere of a 17th-century palace. The building was restored in 2000 and transformed into a modern hotel, just a 5-minute walk from Santa Maria Novella Train Station. It is also just a short distance from the greatest monuments and tourist attractions of the city. Residenza Castiglioni offers 6 spacious, comfortable rooms equipped with modern commodities. The elegant ambiance and the lavish furniture make up for a luxurious atmosphere. Superior rooms and the junior suite are painted with frescoes from the early 19th century. The staff offers a professional service, in order to provide a pleasant and relaxing stay. Guests enjoy discounted rates at a nearby parking. Hotel Rooms: 6

excellent, friendly staff, spacious room, plenty of windows, wardrobe space, fridge, mini safe, tea/coffee making facilities in room, complimentary sweets, left breakfast in room for the morning when we checked out early. didn't use it but TV is too small for the size of the room and the distance to the bed, and safe could be bigger - not laptop or even ipad sized but fine for jewellery, etc. Difficult to get into shower because of proximity to sink but nice when did get in. Heating a little temperamental - ask at desk if unsure. Cereal would be good at breakfast !!!

First class central location and very good valuefor money. We had a lovely studio room at the top with a great view. Breakfast a bit limited for people without a sweet tooth, not even hard- boiled eggs on offer.

After our bad first night (see bad points..), we were moved for our second night to another room. It was in the same building, but we think was actually a room at Allora b&b, a separate business. This room was great, really nice and clean and large, although just a standard room. However, imoirtant to note that this was a room at Allora, not Residenza Castiglioni!! On arrival we were told we'd been upgraded to a suite. Sounded fantastic, but wasn'T. (We suspect this happened because they'd somehow got the bookings wrong). The "suite" was outside the rest of the hotel building, and we had to ring the doorbell to be let in for breakfast. The suite was an old and probably once grand room, but although large with a mezzanine (for the bed) it was the stuffiest room I've ever been in! I an attempt to be "baroque", it was overfilled with unecessary stuff - it looked like 10 Italian grandmas had died and donated their furniture and that it had then been put in without a cleaning! The bathroom smelled exceptionally bad - we ended up cleaning the ventilation and flushing the toilet with washingup liquid ourselves to make it bearable. The furniture was old and stuffy with dusty ribbons and cloths everywhere. There were ancient technical devices on display (why?), and we actually had to get quite drunk to bear spending the night in the room....Besides this, the wifi does not extend to the rooms, everyone sat in the reception to use it. Also, finding the hotel is v difficult, and the guy they sent out to meet us was rude. We had to park in a nearby garage - they charged us loads..

Have to say, me and my girlfriend were amazed by this place. Building is stunning, personnel very helpful with good recommendations for food etc (admittedly not the best English but very good by Italian standards), it was very affordable and last the breakfast served in bed gave the final five star touch. I would take this to any average boring chain hotel place. Highly recommended.

The room was large and well-equipped. Staff extremely solicitous. Especially liked that it was an early check-in and we were allowed to leave our luggage during the day until our train departed. One staff member took a lot of time to suggest restaurants, museums, etc. I thought that the room we had booked was the room shown. The room provided to us was not the same room, and much plainer (no frescoes) which was a major reason for booking. Our only other very minor complaint was that not all of the drinking glasses for a triple room (3 glasses) were replaced on the 2nd day, and we had to ask for toilet paper replacements a few times because we ran out.

This hotel is in the ideal location. It's walking distance from the train station and also walking distance from the city centre, so there is no need to use taxis if you stay here. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are very unusual with frescoes painted all around. It's a good hotel to stay in if you're planning a city break in Florence.

The only good thing about this hotel is its convenient location. It is close to the station and other historical sites. You should avoid this hotel unless the loud music and noise do not bother your sleep. The loud music outside continued until midnight. The windows are not good enough to block the noise. This place looks nice in the pictures, but is overdue for renovation. The bathroom is relatively good, but the overall impression is "old and spent". The lady at the reception did not speak a single word of English. If you do not understand Italian, you would be completely lost here!

A beautiful property ... however the airconditioning in our double room was not functioning correctly. The triple room was fabulous, with frescos painted on the ceiling and beautiful decor. The owner and staff were wonderful!

The big triple room with old wooden two part doors all painted in wood patina and the excellent ceiling paintings in baroque style. Big bathroom and coffee-tea facilities in the room.Nice wooden old furniture. And wool carpet. It was very noisy even in the second floor. The third bed wasn't a bed at all but just the sofa opened in bed.

“Definitely a highly recommended hotel. This may not be the best facilitated hotel I've ever been to, but surely is the most warm and touching hotel I have stayed (especially in the winter of Florence). My wife and I wrote to Italy for our honeymoon trip, we initialy picked this hotel because of its high score in the list, which to be proven as a great decision. The hotel location is perfect, 2-3 mins from railway station; inside the facility is good also, aircon, free wifi, bath, etc all the needed are there. But what really make this hotel unique is the lovely hotel owner MS Victoria. She is one of the best lady i have ever met, she is so kind. After she knows I am on honeymoon, she prepared two great suprise to us, which I will never forget!. It's such a pity that we already booked the railway ticket and hotel in Venice afterwise, otherwise we will stay in that lovely hotel for more days! We will miss this hotel..” Qing, Singapore |

“The location was great. Walking distance from the train station (be sure to get directions as we walked in the wrong direction) and walking distance to all the main sites. The hotel staff was always friendly and helpful. The room was small (but you're in a city after all), and it was very clean and modern. When i return to Florence I would definitely stay here again! ” Theresa, East Brunswick |

“The location is very good and just 3 mins walk from the Firenze SMN station. Although the hotel is near the Street side, it is very quite at night becasue of the double layers windows. Mr. Paolo (Boss) is nice and expalin eveything in detail when you check in. His Staffs are very nice too and my family likes to stay in this Hotel. The size of the room is big enough for 4 people. Also, a good supermarket just nearby and you will find a lot of cheaper things there.” Gavin, Hong Kong |
