Grand Hotel Villa Politi is situated in the center of a spectacular, natural amphitheater, within the ancient Sicilian quarries known as the Latomie dei Cappuccini.
Score from 433 reviews Very good
Borgo Marino Petit Resort is situated on a high ground with a view of the Mediterranean Sea. It is not far from the protected sea area of Plemmirio, and is 10 km from the centre of Syracuse.

The size of the room. As we have two young children we'd asked for a room with a double and twin beds and had 2 rooms that led into each other which was a nice surprise. The staff were very helpful Breakfast was lovely
Parking could have been hard but we got lucky with a space just outside It was a bit of a walk to Ortigia but thee are plenty of taxis about
Room hadnt been cleaned properly, there was hair all over the bathroom and bedroom floor, and the bathroom is very old fashioned.
Staff, views from the terrace and room, comfort, breakfast, location, value. Would return without question.
Location- short easy walk to ortiga (15mins). Can swim 2mins walk away. Family run- lovely people. We had lovely view could hear sea. Lovely breakfast.
Front door is always locked so you have to ring bell to get back in.
We had a lovely room on the 3rd floor. A room with a view, overlooking the sea. Fantastic. Angela and her family were very friendly and helpfull.
Great location just a short walk from Ortigia Island, excellent views, extremely helpful staff
Beautiful hotel with nice big terrasse.
If you are looking for polished, 5-Star accommodations, elevators, full American Breakfast, all things American and a staff that all speaks fluent English, just move along, there's nothing to see here. On the other hand, if you are willing to embrace local culture, put up with some minor visible renovation evidence, want an awesome location and assistance of some wonderful staff, consider the Riviera. The portion of the hotel that is currently NOT available is the portion closest to the ocean and was built around 900 A.D. Yes, that's around 1100 years old! The portion currently open was built around 1970 and our rooms were on '1' (keep in mind that almost every place we stayed, or visited, the main/lobby level was 'Level 0'.) Our rooms faced South over Via Eucleida, the short street off of Riviera Dionisio iL Grande, where the hotel is located. Opening our windows and shutters gave us a nice 'Ocean View' looking to the East. There is a terrace on '2' with a panoramic view of the Iberian Sea and scattered groupings of seating. Angela and her family just about bent over backward to provide assistance during our stay. Angela good English (much better than my Italian) and her family has limited English; we always figured out what we needed. Angela will provide you with suggestions of places to visit along the coast during your visit to Siracusa. I highly recommend walking around Ortigia! And yes, we walked. I am sure you can get a taxi, but it is only 20-25 minutes walk to Ortigia and gives you a slice of Sicilian life you won't get from a taxi. Walking North along Riviera Dionisio iL Grande will take you to a nice place to eat called Ristoranta Jonico. Breakfast was available between 8A-10A and is fully 'Continental'; breads, cakes, homemade donuts and strong, freshly ground coffee. If you want Espresso or Cappuccino, they will happily provide that in addition, or instead of, coffee at your request.
I would have loved to have been able to stay in one of the rooms in the original portion of the building, currently being renovated. They are going to have amazing sunrise views every day.
A very friendly staff, Angela, her sisters and husband Antonio. Delicious breakfast, beautifull guests terrace overlooking the sea.
Wifi router needs to be renewed. Most rooms on 4 floors, acces by marker straits only, bit hard for the elderly. Almost 3 km walk to centre Ortiglia, back uphill.
We could get to the city centre, museums and other sights quite quickly (by car).
It's not possible to swim inthe sea near the hotel, you can't enter the sea.
A really lovely hotel run by a family with lots of care and attention. Previous reviews mentioned construction, and while finishing touches were still happening, there was no noise and it in no way affected our stay. The rooms are bright and clean, with lots of care taken in the decoration and breakfast was delicious. The owner suggested a wonderful restaurant just 5 minutes walk up the road.
Not within walking distance of Ortygia.
We liked the kindness of the staff (a family), the hotel is still under construction and it will be very very beautiful once finished. The breakfast is homemade and delicious.
The hotel is at 15-20min by walk of the city center.
