Its a pretty hotel with nice grounds and the pool is lovely. Roberta the breakfast waitress was very helpful and pleasant.Granita + Brioche for breakfast was excellent, had to pay extra for it but was worth it.The Chinese resteraunte at the end of the road is good food + excellent value.Buses are cheap and easy to use.Wifi is free if you ask for a password. The room was far from luxurious and there was nothing "superior" about it The fan in the bathroom didn't work + the air con broke down 3 times in two weeks.Breakfast was the same every day, dried up scrammble egg, frankfurters + greasy bacon. Most of the staff were miserable. The receptionists were arrogant and gave the impression every thing was a chore. Emanuaella was the worst. You have to ask to be connected to Wifi and they disconnect you everyday so you have to keep asking to be reinstated.Very loud music is played constanlty throughout the hotel controlled by reception + refused to turn it off or down, a real nusiance when trying to relax quietly by the pool, especially when they keep skiping the songs they don'tlike every 2 mins.Hotel had functions + business meetings every day and these took preferance over holiday makers. We were even refused entery at the hotel gates on 2 evenings, as there was a pay to enter function on,in spite of showing our room card. Its in a run down area miles from any decent resteraunts and bars. There are 2 bars within walking distance one is "OK" the other pretty grim.Shuttle bus only 4 times a day and last one back is 9pm, if they remember to come.Taxis extortionate (E35 =£35 from airport, E15 from town both only 10 min drive).Catania has some nice buildings but is filthy place with litter and graffiti everywhere. There are far nicer Hotels in far nicer areas for less money.food + drink at the hotel very expensive and if you don't stipulate exactly what you want they will bring you the most expensive without telling you.We stayed for 2 weeks( 10 days too long) and even by the end no one recognised us or remembered our name. wouldn't recommend it and wouldn't go back

The garden is wonderfull. The room is ok. No fun, the restaurant has a very poor menu on a very high price. The staff, even if they want to be helpful, they can'T. They know only italian language and they don't understand you. So better choose another hotel. They don't have free shuttle bus, they only have, 3-4 times a day, one van. So you have to pay more then 20 euro for one way to each destination.

Location by the airport. Breakfast was great. Cleaning staff was very friendly and helpful. So was the guy at the bar. They used a cleaning product whose smell I was allergic too. Receptionist staff not very helpful. The cost of the taxi to the airport was shocking. They should run the shuttle more often. Very limited access to food from 3pm to 8pm.

Location and parking facility Staff was not friendly During 2 days there was no hot water in bathroom .When we told this the staff simulated they were not aware. One day our room was not cleaned at all.Again staff was surprised. When I explained at departure that I wanted at least to have a discount for non received service ,staff said it was impossible because we booked via Booking.com

We were leaving at 0600 in the morning and the staff offered to have a breakfast laid out for us so we didn't leave on an empty stomach. We were very pleased and impressed with that. It seemed very antiquated, and a bit musty. Thankfully the room had a large double door to open, as the cleaning staff had sprayed a heavy dose of room deodorizer in our room before we checked in, which was overpowering.

I didn't like anything about this hotel. They couldn't even provide a kettle in my room for me to make a decent cup of tea with! And they overcharged me on several low-value items, at the end of my stay. I am disgusted with this hotel. It was very bad, I didn't like it there at all, and I would not recommend it to anyone!! If I could, I would demand a full refund of my money ! ! I didn't like anything about this place. One or two of the staff were quite nice and quite helpful, but the others were not. I was grossly overcharged at 20 Euros (for a 7 Euro breakfast), and I was overcharged another 20 Euros for a 16 Euro 'dinner', (which tasted so disgusting I couldn't even finish eating it), as well as a daily 'tax' for staying there, and I am far from happy!!

Excellent and beautiful building and rooms, good location, a place to feel well, would service quality be acceptable. Extremely poor service (minibar complete, but without glasses; upon request plastic cups were supplied - at breakfast 20 minutes waiting for hot water to prepare tea, no chance to get fresh hot coffee; hotel staff cooperates with taxi "mafia": 20 eur for the 3 km to airport, while normal tariff from city centre is eur 15)

They advertise free airport shuttle, but they are misleading, I called from the airport and they told me it was not available. At the hotel I notice a sign stating the time and it was listed for my arrival time. No shuttle,

Hotel was near to the airport and was quite luxurious. Staff at Reception (Emmanualla,Valentina,Jasmine and Alfredo were excellent - doing their very best to help make our visit a success. The breakfast was lovely and the girls on duty were prepared to help in any way. The grounds were beautiful, lush and extensive, with all sorts of lovely areas where you could sit and relax in the sun or shade. The pool looked very inviting but by mid October was starting to cool off. The shuttle bus at 8.30, 12.30 and 5.30 to downtown Catania or the airport was a help and the drivers Alfio and Lucas were great. The heavy Baroque style and it's pallid colours is not to everyones taste and the atmosphere tended to be 'dark' The bar in particular(despite some lovely furniture pieces) was very dismal. Most of the guests seemed to be business people ,probably on expense accounts. Just as well. A bottle of beer was 6 euros, spirit and mix was 13 and a glass of wine was 10. Only used the bar once and during our 5 days never saw anyone in there. What a shame - such a false economy. As mentioned we had a lovely room with a large balcony on the ground floor. Unfortunately our view was completely obscured by shrubbery which meant we could not see the lovely gardens and the room was further darkened. The greenery also encouraged the mosquitos. Did not eat in the restaurant as a meal for 4 with a drink would have been at least 200 Euros. I do not know what the food was like. There is no where ouside to eat and the gate in the woods/park nearby which allowed you to walk into Auchen supermarket is now kept looked. It cost 25 Euros each way for a taxi to take us the mile and a half there. We tried to walk into town but failed owing to our inability to cross the final road despite standing on a Zebra crossing for 10 minutes. In summing up - I would say that this is a lovely hotel with superstaff. If you just want to chill out -great but if you are going round and about you need a car. The 210 Euros per night that we paid for a double room was not good value and I would not return at that price. Having said that -I wish once again to thank all the staff for their exemplory attitude during our stay.

This hotel had lovely grounds, beautifully maintained. The staff were excellent. It is very close to Catania airport which is why we stayed there, and would do so again. Unfortunately the seaside, across the road from the hotel is not nice at all. So we recommend staying inside the hotel!

Everything! This is a great hotel. Beautifully designed and staff cater to your every need. We actually moved to this hotel because we were unhappy with the one we were staying in and it was simply better in every way. Pool area is very nice, rooms are excellent, food is great, no complaints.

Impressive setting for a moderate price. Design and equipment worth visiting. Helpful staff. Domain too closed off, making a late evening walk near the beach difficult. Breakfast would be OK for a 2 star hotel, is unacceptable for a 5 star hotel. Wi-fi in the rooms is simply not true, the signal is too weak.

It was a wonderful, clean hotel, well appointed. We liked the service shuttle into the hotel, and wished that they offered an earlier one from the hotel to the ariport....perhaps they need to increase shuttles into town and to airport more frequently. Great amenities, food was excellent. lack of early morning airport shuttles

Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. We had been traveling Italy for several weeks and we delighted by our accomodations at the Romano. Pool was great and the food was wonderful. We did not go across to the beach but it was right there. We ended up lounging by the pool. Oh, and the beds were so comfortable! Plus they had great water pressure in the shower!!!

Nice location, beautiful hotel, good beds. Staff was a bit rude. I complaint about the shower and the warm water (it was warm-cold-warm-cold); and all the reception said was "this is not possible". Later on she showed me a drawing the maintenance guy drew for me to explain how the tap works... Well I think I understand how a tap works sincer I'm an adult... The bathroon was just very ready for a renovation! Also I thought it was a pity I wouldn't eat anything (but a sandwich) in this 5-star hotel between 5 and 8!! I was waiting for a flight, and couldn't buy anything.
