눇If Pisa is a circle, then the hotel is the exact center - the location is amazing. Pisa is pretty small to begin with, but from the hotel it is a short walk to many places: 15 minutes to train station, 15 minutes to leaning tower, 10 minutes to main shopping strip (on the way to train station), 2 minutes from another sort of main shopping area. (15Euros by cab from the airport). The hotel itself is super charming - it is grand, yet quaint, with many photos and products on display, depicting the history of the building. In fact, it is worth just walking around the different floors to see photos of the past, postcards, wine bottles, notices from different European cities in the earlier part of the century advertising the hotel... and the list goes on. So charming! The breakfast spread is wonderful. The room I stayed in, a double, was just perfect. Tall ceilings, sunny, and pretty simple looking, with AC, tv, wifi, phone, little working table, and extra blankets. There is a beautiful little terrace on the 4th floor where you can just hang out if it is warm enough. And there is a sort of library on the 1st floor where there are a couple of antique desks and chairs, where you can get some work done. The staff was super friendly - I was impressed with the speedy response when I emailed the hotel before arriving inquiring about the approximate cab cost from the airport. Then, upon arrival, the staff was very helpful and sweet. And finally, I was allowed a late check out, and then I hung out in the 'lobby' for a while - nice couches, armchairs, and tables - before catching my train. This was the perfect place to stay in Pisa for a night or two. Thank you Royal Victoria Hotel!
