WIFI IS NOT FREE !!!
My wife and visit Bologna at the beginning of December. We were stay at hotel Royal Hotel Carlton for 3 nights. We were very impressed from thehotel and the staff. We highly recommend this hotel people whoappreciate the comfort.
This hotel is almost everything you would want from a business hotel, excellent helpful friendly staff, excellent location, excellent amenties and lastly excellent food.
The one thing that let's this hotel down is the Bar Manager who seems more focused on having a really nice bar with everything in its place rather than filling it...infact I'd go as far as to say he doesn't like people in it, making it look untidy. When my wife and I stayed recently, we watched as a group of 5-6 customers who were trying to get an extra chair or 2 round one table were told to put the chairs back. They up'd and left, leaving the 2 bottles of champagne and a Bar Manager throwing his weight around. On another occasion he denied a younger traveller, who was probably cconserving funds, access to his daily selection of nibbles because he didn't want a drink, but was a guest at the hotel. Don't judge a book by it's cover..!!!!!! In my opinion he needs a quick lesson in customer relations....or replacing.
The hotel is very stylish, clean, it feels very posh and elegant. It's also very close to the centre of town and there is no noise whatsoever in the rooms. The TVs are quite big and they have Sky Italia which in many cases broadcasts in English too (you must select the original language using the remote).
In the UK it's quite standard to have an iron and an ironing board in the room. When there isn't one, there is normally a room where you can go and iron your shirts. Try to ask that question at Royal Carlton and the staff will look at you as if you asked to bring in your room some live chicken in a cage. "We have a laundry service, there is a price list in your room" is the reply I got.
Everything was great, including breakfast. Also, what is provided in the bar when ordering drinks is exceptional-especially the cheese.
location, food, service
must be written that each time the spa entrence is 30 euros! this is one of the reason NOT to choose this hotel Even if you take a massage which cost 90 euros you must add 30 euros to use the spa! if I knew it I would prefer another hotel I blame just BOOKING! which must write this fact
The room was very comfortable. Staff on reception helpful.
general setting and design in both the public areas as well as the rooms; quiet room and comfortable bed; very good work-out room; close to center, close to station; very good breakfast; nice bar in the lobby; very good restaurant in the hotel; choice of newspapers in the lobby
no coffee machine in the room (isn't that required for a four star hotel?); only Italian TV programmes; only Italian newspapers in the lobby; there was no document about details of the hotel in the room (very strange, never saw before that a hotel missed the chance to present itself once more); for the spa area an appointment is required, there is no easy/free accessible "small" solution of a pool or similar
Clean beautifull rooms , good service good breakfast
Mattress very hard, pillows very hard, sheets too stiff sandpaper like
Hotel in great condition, fully renovated
Breakfast was excellent
Location, friendliness and helpfulness of staff, general comfort of room
Too hot at night. we had to ask for a fan to supplement the rather weak aircon
Internet was terrible and paid!
ludicrous = they charge you 5 euros/day for internet. at their rates this is unacceptable & self-defeating. to make matter worse their internet was NOT working the day we arrived. about 40 patrons were struggling in front of the hotel trying to get a signal on their phones/computers. furthermore: there is NO sign in front of the hotel that parking is NOT allowed. We stopped for 5 minutes to discharge our luggage and we got a ticket!!!!!
the location is on a quiet street ten minutes walk to the main square and five minutes to Bologna central station. The lobby is magnificient with a string of lovely chandeliers. The service at Reception is excellent. The superior double room is spacious with a nice bathroom, though I prefer a shower cubicle. No coffee or Tea making facilities. Also, they refuse to give an Iron and ironing board, saying it is a fire risk! Otherwise, it is brilliant.
The staff were excellant.
Restaurant did not live up to the standard of the rest of the hotel, although the staff were excellant
Comfort of the room
Car park charge
Beautiful hotel. Liked everything about it. Fantastic breakfast, lovely spacious room, very clean facilities, helpful staff. Very centrally located although on arrival at train station, late at night, it was a little hard to find.
Very nice Hotel with excellent service and facilities.
Having to pay additonal for wifi and parking is a bit of a pain when you pay these sort of room fees.
Our junior suite, the jacuzzi, the wardrobe area, the prosecco and fruit on the table.
Very hard pillows, caused me neck ache. After two nights I had asked for a soft one and I got two immediately.
The location was great, close to everything. The room was spacious, quiet and comfortable. The reception staff very helpful and polite. Because out flight was at 6 PM, they permitted us to check out later than normal, at 3 PM, which we appreciated very much.
I thing that for this type of hotel, the WI Fi should be free. Propably I would suggest a coffe / tea maker available in the hotel rooms.
Some of the staff had a nonchalant attitude.
Very surprised that a hotel charging these prices still charged for wifi whilst it was only 5 euros a day did not like this attitude
Excellent facilities with lots of extras. Very good and varied breakfast. The reception staff were very friendly, from the moment we entered the building and helpful at passing on messages. Although a central location , good access to the station about 5 minutes, it was in a very quiet street.
