Set in a historic building of the 17th century, La Contrada dei Monti is in Orta San Giulio a few steps from the lake. It offers a courtyard with tables and chairs and exposed stone walls.
Score from 66 reviews Good
Siriohotel is set in Dormelletto, just off state road SS33 and overlooking Lake Maggiore. It offers panoramic views over the lake and a restaurant.
Score from 151 reviews Very good
The family-managed Albergo Sempione overlooks Lake Maggiore, and is only 165 ft from the pier of the ferries for the Borromean Islands. Most rooms offer views of the lake.
Score from 318 reviews Good
The Fontaine Bleue is a small hotel overlooking Lake Orta, and located 3 km from the centre of town. It offers a restaurant and free entry to the natural beach. All rooms offer lake views.
Score from 325 reviews Excellent
Safe underground parking. Clean towels and room "done" daily. Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to 'trenino" for transport into town.
The insistence on a penalty for leaving one day early. Two rooms had hangers not removable which were unreachable. (We changed rooms for this reason but the second was just as bad.)
Italian holiday resort of old Very beautiful lake Brilliant breakfast - Fish!
Road from hotel to village has no footpath for 100 yards, then a busy roundabout. Only one local place to eat where car is not needed Paying to park car in garage
Absolutely loved their restaurant
Wifi just at first floo, no in the rooms.
Most outstanding and plentiful breakfast ever...and it was included in the price.
This was a very last minute booking for us and the staff were great. The location is amazing and the hotel clean and tidy. Great breakfast included. Would definately stay again.
Parking on premises & lift to all floors; easy access to the lakeside walk around the peninsula & the village OS Orta San Guilo; breakfast choices were plentiful including fresh fruit.
Very good breakfast buffet selection Very clean everywhere. Free drinks/snack room an excellent initiative
Rather cramped bathroom with poor lighting and feeble hairdryer No proper Italian coffee or hot chocolate for breakfast! Tiled floors mean corridor noise.
Quirky touches, good facilities, liked the free tea and cakes.
Hotel was 15 minutes walk from the main piazza, which wasn't a problem in itself, but the area directly around the hotel had speedy traffics and no pavement.
The staff were helpful and friendly. We were happy with how easy it was to find the hotel and especially wih the great breakfast.
Clean, friendly staff
Extra charge for Parking
Excellent staff. Very clean. Good value. Free parking.
No wi-fi in the rooms.
Excellent breakfast Interior is an unusual mix of design and style - we liked it! The town and the lake is very beautiful Do not miss a pasta topped with truffle (tartuf) at one of the hotel restaurants at the lake side
Receptions opening hours was a mess - and almost made us missed the morning flight home due a very late checking out time
The reception we got was very welcoming and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location was convenient as it was at an easy walking distance from the town center. There is a car park at the hotel at extra charge but it was full at the time so we got to park nearby in a fenced paddock for free. The room was tidy enough. The breakfast was superb with plenty of choice.
The bed was not very comfortable.
The room was big and clean, and the breakfast is outstanding. A big selection of fresh fruit, cerials, bread, ham and cheeses, cakes... The staff very friendly and helpful. There is a room to relax with free drinks and snacks. In the reception is a good map of the area. The location is alright, between the the centre of the village and the Sacro Monte, a 10-15 mins walk to the Piazza Motta. Convenient parking in the basement.
Not very important, but an espresso machine down in the breakfast room would be great! Wifi in the bedroom and not only in the reception area would also be handy.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast selection was quite good, lots of cold cuts in addition to cereal, bread and cakes. Room was basic but quite a good size.
No wifi in the rooms.
was not user friendly: - wheelchair was not able to enter lift - food was not available as restaurant was closed and there was no bar I was on medication and yet could not take my medicine as no food was available yet was charged for the day when we decided to move to another hotel - totally insensitive to my needs
Our room (for a family of 4) was huge and had a lovely view. Very clean and quiet. Staff were friendly. Breakfast food was abundant-- lots of choices, fresh, delicious. Hotel is above town-- takes about 15 minutes to walk down into town. Nice walk with beautiful views, on are road with few cars.
The breakfast coffee tasted suspiciously like Nescafe, which according to me is a horrible way to start one's day (especially in Italy where the coffee is normally excellent).
Air conditioning for rooms controlled by reception and only up till 11pm.
The hotel is querky as it has lots of modern art dotted around the reception eg. model plaster of paris polar bear on a chair. Soft drinks and sweet snacks available from 3pm-7am. Reception were very helpful to plan a day out in th rain!
The internet was only available in reception area between 10am-8pm. It is a 15-20 minute walk into the centre of Orta.
Very helpful friendly staff. They are clearly trying to create a community feel with public TVs and wi if only in public. Trying to bring people together. Not far fro the lake which is excellent.
Breakfast is fabulous! Children-frendly place.
Staff are accommodating
Simple enough accomadation but spacious enough for a weekend trip. Just a bedroom and a sort of balcony. Quirky enough hotel in terms of decoration etc which was pretty cool. No problems with the staff, always quite helpful and a decent amount of english. It was only about a 15 minute walk to the heart of the town along a lovely road. Lake Orta is amazing so you wont be spending much time in the hotel! Easy access from the road.
Breakfast was only ok. It was quite varied in its contents but none of it was amazing. Would not have wanted to stay much more than the 2 nights in the room, it was big enough for just sleeping but there wasn't much room for an extended stay. The balcony/outside area was a little unkept, and had basically no view.
The location was very good for touring the area. Staff was helpful and very nice. Great breakfast too.
There was a problem with ants in the coffee room. The final day we had them in our room as well.
