Hotel San Domenico  

Hotel was in a good and quiet location. The staff, especially Patrick - who makes fantastic cappuccino - were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were all individual, and kept clean.

The wonderful location in the heart of this atmospheric mediaeval city. Our room had a 'Romeo and Juliet' balcony, overlooking the intricately cobbled street, 2 minutes from the main piazza. There is a delightfull little courtyard for leisurely breakfasts or a quiet drink. The owner and staff were warm and welcoming - and so kind and helpful when we had to deal with a family problem back home. Hoping to go back again!

We had difficulty getting to the place. We called and they came to us and guided us to the very very tight narrow road and to park.

The location in the centre of Erice was great. I enjoyed meeting Nonno and the children and it was a nice, friendly family experience. We were helped with our bags and our needs were taken care of quickly. We especially enjoyed being able to have our cappuccini on the terrasse.

The room was a bit cramped. You had to be careful going around the bed as there was a sharp corner I always seemed to bang into. There was not much variety for breakfast and the same cake that was there on our first day appeared on our third day.

Nice people, clean, great location once you find the hotel, beautiful city, good food options in the area.

Getting there with a car is a major challenge. Gps does not help if you are driving a good sized car. Staff were very helpful with the parking once we figured out what was going on.

Room very compact so if overloaded with luggage like us was a bit tricky, however this is style within this town Very little english spoken which can be challenging but also fun!

Great location. Very nice lobby with stone vaulted ceilings. Comfortable rooms.

Common areas were too cold. The staff kept the front door locked so you had to wait to be let in. The staff required you to leave the key at reception which was annoying because you had to wait to get it back.

The staff was excellent. We loved the woman who is the daughter of the owner. She was bright, friendly, and very helpful. We also thought Patrick gave excellent service and we enjoyed him. He added a nice flair to their service. I liked their breakfast. It was simple, but just right. They are very gracious. We had a number of family members who descended upon us at the hotel and the owners were very welcoming and gracious letting us use the common room.

A light bulb did not work. Can you believe that is the one thing that went wrong. This place is one of the most charming places we have stayed at in Sicilia. If you could make the weather nicer, we would have like that!

A wonderful and spotless room with the best shower in all of Siciliy. A beautifully restored old building. The accommodations were elegant. It was a truly five star experience.

This was an intimate family-run hotel that made you feel fully integrated with the super hilltop town of Erice. The hotel and surroundings were very quiet at night and a wide range of super restaurants was within easy walking distance. There have been other comments regarding the difficulty of parking close to the hotel. It's true that Erice is a bit of a maze of narrow streets (which hilltop town isn't?) and finding the hotel is a bit of an adventure - but fun. No onsite or street parking very close but David, a staff member, was exceedingly helpful and once the car was parked - about five minutes away - we didn't touch it for three days! It was fun and relaxing exploring Erice for that time and we took the excellent cable car down to Trapani one day. A great stay - recommended.

We appreciated the friendly and forthcoming staff. The rooms are cosy and clean. The small hotel is well-integrated into Erice's architecture. We liked the small details such as flowers, ceramics etc in the corners and on the stairs.

Tucked in the back streets of Erice, an 11th century hill town which originated with the Greeks, this 13th century structure has been entirely modernized in the past decade. It is quiet, dignified, charming, has a lovely breakfast courtyard, and a full bar and espresso service. Guests are treated with dignity and care--make the trip up the mountain to stay at Hotel San Domenico.

Neither the hotel staff nor guidebooks noted that after arriving at the city gates by bus or cable car, it would be most advisable to hire a taxi to the hotel, rather than drag bags uphill over cobblestone streets for almost half a mile. Departing and walking downhill was far less problematic.

Driving up to the hotel was treacherous, but one of the staff members guided me, helped park the car and carried out bags up the hill.

The hotel soothes one after the winding road up to Erice. It is an old stone building with a superb location. It doesn't trumpet it's presence and is easily missed. Every member of the hotel staff treated us with respect and kindness. Our room had large windows with wood shutters. The bathroom was modern and clean. The breakfast seemed entirely homemade.
