Location near historic center (about 10-15 min walk), nice room, kindly personel, clean room. In a room is also a small kitchen (enough for a quick meal) with refrigerator and dishes. There is a contraction with a garage, so you can drive to the hotel and garage personel takes your car (ask the personal at locanda gallo about details and price!). You can also park at Parterre parking (20€ per 24h), it's 15 minutes walk.
A little bit too dark room at night. They take their time to respond on emails. You should inform the personel about your arrival time (they are not there 24/7).
Great staff . I checked in very late that day. But the pretty staff help us make it. Good location and the room is clean
The room is a little bit different from the picture. I though they gave me another room when I walk into the room. But it's still good
the staff is very very nice for us. is very near for the famous location员工非常的友好，离景点不是很远
is too far away from train station and can not take bus to arrive at离火车站很远，拖着行李走小路很累
Extremely close to all of the main attractions, and there's an excellent bar feet from the hotel. The beds are fantastic, the room is extremely spacious, and it was probably the best deal you could get for a large group of people in a city as visited as Florence. Oh, and an unexpected bonus, I'm pretty sure our room was haunted.
Difficult to find, we actually spent an hour trying to check into a different hotel just 100 meters from this one. There's not a lot of food around that isn't a tourist trap (you have to cross the river for anything tasty). And, unfortunately, although the staff was very friendly and helpful to us, we were waiting for a great deal of time to get checked in and checked out of the hotel (an hour or two each).
Very good location in the center of the city and 20 minute walk from S.M Novella station. Staff was great. The room was nice and clean.
The room was very bright and with air conditioner.
There is no elevator...
The location is almost perfect... its close to the Accademia and to the Uffizi gallery and if you walk for 10 mins. more you can reach Ponte Vecchio. San Marco square is 5 mins. walk from the guest house and you can catch a bus or get a taxi from there. Train Station (S. Maria Novella) is about 20 mins. walk from Locanda Gallo. Carolina, the owner/manager was very friendly, considerate and helpful. The price was reasonable for Florence at the peak of tourist season.
This review is for the room named 'Petrarca' -If you get a room on the 3rd Floor like we did, the climb to the room is quite steep and tiring with your luggage. We were given a room for 4 people with 4 beds (1 Queen & 2 Twins) but the room was more suitable for 2 or at the most 3. The bathroom was in a closet like cramped space and some of the the bathroom floor tiles were about to come off. There was no coffee pot or water heater the room in but you can get it if requested. The AC in the room was leaking water and the first day when we returned after visiting the Accademia, we found our bed completely soaked with the water from the AC. After notifying the manager (Carolina, also the owner) the problem was fixed.
Great location, 15 minute walk from the train station and 10 minute walk from the cathedral. Simply furnished but spacy and comfortable room. Carolina (staff) was very friendly and helpful. Very good value for the money.
Rooms located on third floor without elevator and the stairs are rather narrow. Was no problem for us but could be for some.
Very cozy! great value for the money, the staff is very helpful
The women at the reception were always great and helpful. They let us check out much later when we had some flight problems. Room was clean, location was jiioabout a 13 minute walk to the duomo.
Water in the shower was hot for about a minute before turning freezing cold (every time). Could hear people from different apartments all around us at certain times of the day.
Location wise is quite close to main Florence plazas, good restaurants in close proximity. Room was large and being cleaned every day.
Lack of breakfast - but that was not a big problem
Location is perfect - in the centre of the city and not far from the Central Station. Hotel is very nice with all necessary equipment(hairdryer, electric kettle) Carolina was so very helpful when our luggage was lost in the airport.
The host is really nice and friendly. The most comforting part is that she speaks English very well, especially for us who cannot understand Italian...The short stay in Florence was really unforgettable, and I truly recommend Locando Gallo to other tourists because of its great location and hospital host!
The stuff ! They are so kind and pleasant ! Many details are arranged with such taste in apartment. They were waiting for us about midnight (it was nigh flight to Florence) with city map in the hand.
The apartment is very modest, made by reconstructing , adding some parts, generally it does not look as it has to be in the 21st century.
Nice and friendly staff. Clean and warm. Kettle in the room.
The area where the hotel is located is limited for driving so we had to leave the car quite far away. The room is quite small for 3 persons (2 adults, 1 child) but not too critical.
The owner is really nice and the rooms are comfortable and clean.
The building is very old and the entrance quite distasteful. The hot water from the shower doesn't last too much time. No lift.
Excellent location Very clean room Very polite staff
The guest house is located at a quite old building No elevator available Too expensive for its facilities
just 10 min walk to the city center with helpful, smiling and good English speaking staff. You feel the spirit of Florence with the old building.
This is not a specific problem for the hotel but mosquitos were terrible. This is how you pay your depths to Arno :)
great location, not far from the Duomo, and about 5 min walk from San Marco. Cleanliness is good, staff is super friendly, and, wifi signal is way better than most hotels in Italy!
There is no elevator. that means if you are not traveling light, those tiny stairs might be a problem for you.
I have to say I was a bit nervous staying here after reading a lot of bad reviews but as most of Florence was booked out- we went ahead with it. I dont understand any of the bad reviews- the room was so clean- there was a mini bar, the street is so safe, there was no noise from bathroom plumbing and the lady running the place- is so helpful and friendly. There is a laundromat downstairs- so close to every attraction!
The pillows could be fatter- the flatest pillows I have slept on. Florence is a very noisy place at night- but not the hotels fault as it is the whole city.
Reception is open only several hours per day in the morning. They gave us the wrong key, so we had to wait one hours in the evening until they come and give us the key of our room.
The owners were very friendly and helpful. Location was within walking distance of the main attractions and the train station.
The dust under the bed, which is where we were storing our travel bags as the room was a snug fit for four.
Excellent location, 10 minute walk from everything. Rooms were beautiful, modern, clean. Staff was not fluent in English, but communicated well enough. They gave us a map and were very friendly. Would definitely recommend, or stay again.
No lift, had to carry bags up 2 or 3 floors. Reception desk closes at 1pm - if you arrive later you must call in advance.
Do not stay at this hotel. It is infested with flees, bed bugs! The whole hotel is disgusting!
Everything.... Where do I start. At the beginning I suppose .... So here goes ... Could not find the place, from the outside it looks like a run down, non functional building. No sign or notice to tell you, it was a 'hotel' !!! After ringing the bell, the door came open, we went into a pitch black, smelly corridor. We eventually found a light switch, using the torch light on our phones. We knocked on the first door we found, an angry guy shouted through the door the reception was on the 3rd floor. We climbed the very steeped stairs to, what was suppose to be a reception. This was a cupboard with a so called desk n 2 chairs. Within seconds of being in this building, both myself and my son had been bitten by something! We were shown our poky room! There was no electricity, there was water all over the floor, it smelt of horrendous damp, window glass was cracked, springs sticking out if mattress, stains on the bedding. I turned up the sheets to look at the mattress and this was disgusting. No easy way to put it but stains of urine and diarrhoea. The pillows was the same. There was mould along the floor and walls. As I previously mentioned we caught bed bugs from this hotel and flees. I would defiantly not recommend you to stay here!
clean room, close to the Galleria Accademia and other main sights ( approx. 10-15 minutes walk to the duomo or S.M. Novella station). All in all, a good location for a city-trip.
