Hotel San Gottardo  

The location was unbeatable. Excellent mattress and bathroom.

Room slightly small (but who cares; apart from sleeping, we were hardly in it).

The hotel was in one of the cutest villages around the area and our balcony view of the lake was amazing. The staff was super friendly! If your looking for an authentic Italian city without too many tourist this is the place.

It was one of the most enjoyable experiences we have had in Italy so far. Lake Maggiore is a beautiful sight, and the hotel has lake-view rooms which are really nice, especially during the night. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

One of the things that we have noticed in some hotels in Italy is that there are no vegetables during breakfast (there is fruit). This could be something worth looking into, as I did not expect to come to Italy in Spring and eat just meat and cheese at breakfast, with no vegetables... But really, the breakfast was ok. We ate fruit instead of vegetables.

Nice room with the lake view. Located right in front of the lake. Front desk staff are nice and helpful.

I left my bottle of Benefiber (needed to take every day by the doctor) at the breakfast table and they threw it away. I booked the room at 130 Euro but the same room was listed at 85 Euro in Booking.com a few days before (perhaps because of the end of the season.) They did not want to make any adjustment, however. In addition, initially I booked for Hotel Belvedere at 165 Euro but switched to San Gottardo at 130 Euro. They said that they did not receive from Booking.com either the cancellation or the new booking but reluctantly honored the booking at 130 euro.

Amaizing Hotel with perfect location and a beautiful view to Lago Maggiore! Situated right in front of the boat stop that takes you to all the magical islands - Isola Bella, Isola Madre & Isola dei pescatori... and other citiest along Lago Maggiore The Hotel staff is very professional, available for any kind of information and request and friendly. Excellent value for money!

The location is great: next to a boat/ferry station. And the view from the window (lake side) is outstanding, it is just 15 meters from the lake. The breakfast was very good too.

Parking: there is limited free public parking on the street next to hotel but it is not belong to the hotel, so it is usually full. But you can wait 10-15 minutes until someone leaves.

Do not know where to start. Booked as a stop off on the way home from Venice. Big mistake - should have stayed a minimum of 3-4 days. Room 803, side of hotel with excellent view of mountains and Lake Maggiore. This could go on forever, big bedroom, huge shower room, immaculate condition, first class night's sleep, amazing breakfast and topped off with the most courteous and helpful staff. The hotel has directly opposite, the ferry to take you to the local islands - 10 minute trip. You must go. Leave the hotel and you are in the mountains on the way to Switzerland in no time. Fantastic location opposite ferry and near town square. Very well managed hotel with business-like staff. Excellent all-round base for lakeside holiday, handy for Switzerland and other Italian lakes.

Somewhat noisy street outside at weekend and air-conditioning seemed unable to go below 23 degrees. A room safe would have been useful.

Super location facing the Lake. Room was very clean and staff was very nice.

We were upgraded to the Hotel Pallanza a few doors away (part of the same group of hotels) which was fantastic - very friendly staff, great breakfast with lots of fresh fruit, pineapple, watermelon and melon, great size room for family of 4, air conditioned, free parking opposite or nearby (we never had a problem even though it was mid-August), a fabulous firework display the first night we arrived!

Great location next to ferry port. Decent breakfast with juice machine for orange and grapefruit. Private, secure parking garage.

Location. Confusing with 2 names Belvedere and San Gottardo and each one having a diferent star rating. Still do not know whether I booked San Gottardo or Belevedere as confirmation had an e-mail address as Belvedere

Breakfast - would have liked an opportunity to have toast but there was only brown bread for toasting and it didn't sem toaster was working properly. Also would have like bananas to be available everyday. I di ask 2 days for bananas but eventually bought my own and brought it with me. I feel there was a shortage of waiting staff as other members had to step in. Good teamwork!

The staffs are so friendly and polite. the rooms and decoration are excellence par one. The location is just in front of the Lake Maggiore so the view is so beautiful and the pier for the boats to get on to the Islands is close by. The breakfast is very tasty and had variety to choose from. We will definitely go back again for our next trip.

Room with the lake view is worth it. Spacious rooms, very clean.

Breakfast was quite poor, although if you ask for omlette they will prepare.

The location was exactly where we wanted to be and we had a lovely room overlooking the lake. No hotel bar. Some nearby bars/resaurants we very good, others a little noisy and not what we wanted but we will go again.

The hotel staff were helpful and friendly. Great food, very comfortable room and great views.

No bar to relax in

The reception staff were wonderful, providing a really warm welcome and lots of information. Unexpectedly we had a room with a balcony and a lake view which was beautiful. The room was spacious, very clean with a large shower - just what we needed after a few days camping! Breakfast had a good choice and the overall atmosphere of the place was very relaxed. Great value, great location.

The staff were very good and friendly. Superb location right by the boat terminal. Availability of garage parking.

Bedroom walls are a bit thin so sensitive people may be irritated from time to time.

Lovely spacious well decorated room with tall ceilings, three large windows, a long balcony facing Lago Maggiore and some views of the Alps towards Switzerlandand and a short walk to the pier to catch the boats that ply their way back and forth to the Borromean islands and places like Bavano and Streza on the opposite side. Plentiful breakfast and close to all Pallanza's restaurants, also very good - Bolongaro's next door will serve up a tasty meal, especially if you arrive fairly late on your first night's stay. About a mile's walk along the lakeside road to Villa Tarranto gardens (a bit like Kew). Had a very enjoyable, relaxing four days in March, blessed with sunshine and warmth.

The location was very good. Good relation price/quality 70€/night (breakfast included). The staff was polite and kind. They gave us a room with lake viuws under previous demand. Free wifi in the room. Fantastic staff informing about everything.
