Opened in 1308, the Albergo Cavalletto & Doge Orseolo is one of the oldest hotels in Venice. It is set right behind St. Mark's Square, and features elegant rooms and a private pier.

Having a fridge and tea making facilities in the room was such a convenience , good shower and reasonable size room for a few nights .
As other reviewers, paying the tax in cash on check out was extremely inconvenient, it should have been made clear at the beginning and it would have been fine . Breakfast even for a continental one standard was poor . Noise levels from other rooms was annoying.
Only a minute's walk from the Grand Canal, five minutes from Rialto, but this perfect little hideaway is stunningly quiet and wonderfully comfortable. Staff could not be more friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast. A wonderful location.
Rooms are on the second and third floors but there's no lift. No problem for us, and the staff helped with luggage, but might not suit people with poor mobility.
Wen appreciated that it was centrally located in Venice. Easy walk to all the important sites.
There should have been a greater variety of food for breakfast.
A short walk from Rialto
I didn't like the fact that we were initially charged the amount we got charged for a two bed apartment when one bed was in fact a pull down settee ,and had very little privacy.
Great location, friendly staff, clean & comfortable room (& very spacious for Venice!).
The B&B was located in a central spot, close to the major attractions. The staff was great and the room was more than adequate for a family of 4 people
Beds Shower Ambience
Being timely aware on how to find the address and the fact that at our 71 & 78 we had to climb 64 steps to our room. Seniors should be advised that this BB is not senior friendly.
Breakfast very basic
Very helpful staff Nice room with good service Quiet area but near to all interesting places We will go there again!
We found the hotel easily from the Rialto bridge and were pleasantly surprised with the size of our suite. Everything was clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff were very obliging and tuned into our needs. The location is perfect and the Osteria around the corner is fantastic.
1) best price for staying in Venice main island, great location, 800 meters from San Marco Piazza, very close the ferry stop Riato bridge 2) kind and warm heart lady, who gave us welcome drink and delicious breakfast and detailed map for tourist 3) spacious room, on third floor, can see the top of main building in Venice Tips: 1) buy ferry pass to take ferry everywhere 2) park in the entrance of main island, 30EUR per 24 hours
Spacious by local standards, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Super clean. Very safe and quiet even though it is steps from the Rialto Bridge.
Apartment is on 4th floor and water pressure for the shower was very low.
Very good service. Staff were extremely helpful. Convenient location - Rialto Bridge 3 mins walk and St Marks Square 5 mins walk. Good quality and very good value accommodation.
Breakfast room a bit quiet and stuffy but the breakfast itself was good. Loud bang in our room whenever a toilet was flushed elsewhere in the building!
The size and location excellent value for Venice
The location is hard to find but staff were looking out for us so this cancelled out any negatives.
Spacious, welcoming, very, very central and quiet at night. The kitchen facilities made a world of difference and gave us real flexibility. Room for friends to visit and chat, and to share a glass of wine. Excellent.
Very helpful staff, good breakfast. Easy to find and location is excellent for touring around Venice. Lots of great shopping nearby but do your research on restaurants because a good one is hard to find.
We paid a lot of money for a cramped room in the attic where we had to walk around crouched over so we didn't hit our heads on the ceiling beams. Very poor value.
Centrally located. Comfortable room, good breakfast.
Difficult to find, not well marked
We were given a beautiful room on the 4th floor with our own little terrace overlooking the rooftops of Venice. It was so magical. Our room was simple but very clean and had a great little attic nook with a table and chairs. It is only a 3-5 min walk from the Rialto bridge and 5 mins to st marks square. We had a great stay and will be back in the future.
Nothing. The bathroom was a little small, but it is Europe....this is normal.
Central location, modern furnishings, excellent helpful staff and good breakfast
Difficult to find. No signage. No elevator.
Location was excellent - did not have difficulty to find following instructions given by host. Money value when compared to small hotel rooms was excellent
sofa beds in both rooms, were not comfortable.
Everything was fantastic. The host was a great help in everyway. Close to everything. Rooms were very clean. Host even did our washing and drying for us at no extra cost. Would highly recommend.
Just a little difficult to find.
The staff and locatiob
The matress and pillow
Maneuela went out of her way to make our stay comfortable. Nothing was too much effort. Lovely room and very comfortable bed. Would definitely come back.
