Hotel Continental is in a 15th-century historic building right on the Grand Canal. It offers beautiful views and a central location, just a 2 minute walk from Santa Lucia Train Station.

Opened in 1308, the Albergo Cavalletto & Doge Orseolo is one of the oldest hotels in Venice. It is set right behind St. Mark's Square, and features elegant rooms and a private pier.

Hospitality of staff Location- five minute walk to Basillio port Room size - deluxe room with view Neighborhood/area - authentically Venice Nearby restaurants Walking distance to tourist spots Overall hotel ambience
Hardness of bed Mosquitos in the garden
Beautiful garden outside room which was perfect to relax in after busy sightseeing day. Delicious breakfast including warm home-made cake which was to-die-for - need the recipe !!
No tea or coffee making facilities in room and no air con available after end September . Only 1 English speaking tv channel which was CNN.
Loved the neighborhood which seemed like the real Italy, as opposed to the touristy Saint Mark's area. Great view of the canal and church from the front windows. Convenient to the Vaporetto stop to Saint Mark's Square. Only one bridge to cross to the cruise terminal. Breakfast was great!
AC was turned off Sept. 15, but night air was cool with windows open. Bathtub was very narrow. All the rooms are completely different. We had a deluxe room and it was very spacious, but not as plush as the one next door.
Location, buffet breakfast was fabulous, Maria, the server, was a delight and very helpful.
Not told about keeping key in slot therefore no electricity. Not told about the plug in mosquito spray and woke up with tons of bites, The temperature was hot and they turned off the air conditioner and could not turn it back on so we had to sleep with windows up therefore more mosquites!!!!!!!
Best staff on a 2 week Europe vacation! Georgia was wonderful, and the man who I did not catch his name, was very kind.
Wifi was poor, but other than that, excellent!!
Location. friendly staff
I liked everything. All modern conveniences and good area near to restaurants, water taxis, etc.
It would be nice to put a night light in the bathroom for mature travellers.
good room-nice garden-quiet location-very helpful staff
garden could be tidier!
Staff where friendly Beautiful garden Near to the lagoon and water buses
Mosquitos in the garden Poor wifi in our room (but the hotel is over 500 years old) Breakfast was a little basic They don't have an iron due to the age of the building and fire risk.
Staff, room were excellent, and away from the tourists and noise. Right next to water bus stop as well. Breakfast was lovely too :)
Nothing, it was all good
Nice, safe location. Beautiful room (we needed the main floor for wheelchair). Excellent breakfast and amazing coffee. Friendly, helpful staff. Would stay again in a heartbeat!
Wifi did not work for me.
My nephew and I liked the location of this hotel and easy access to the San Basilio water taxi and ferry terminal (ferry from Venice to Croatia). We enjoyed sitting outside for breakfast. The staff was nice and welcoming. Georgia, the receptionist, recommended a good restaurant on the water while we waited for our rooms and it was in walking distance and very easy to find. I would stay here again.
The wifi was very poor to non-existent in the room and we noticed other guest in the lobby on their smartphones, etc., late at night.
The staff was great! Best service in Venez. We had 2 rooms, I like both of them, but the first 1 had better internet conection. Breakfast was smal and cute, we loved it :) Garden was beautiful. Locaton was great, close and not to crowded
In our second room 37 we had problems whit internet. Realy bad conection.
The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful.
The professional pictures online are deceiving. The chair in the room is stained and dirty. The AC in the bedroom did not work. The tv initially didn't work and when it finally did there were only 2 channels. The safe is not is a secure location. The wall unit should be repaired or replaced. The curtains should be cleaned. When we attempted to turn on the washroom fan it did not work and made a scary sound. The breakfast options are more of a 3 star than a 4 star.
Button on the wall in the room that allowed you to play jazz music through a speaker in the wall was pretty awesome, the staff were so smiley and helpful and nothing was a problem for them. always asking how we were and allowed us to take our breakfast up to the room when my girlfriend was ill one morning. really nice hotel so central to so many of venices sites large garden if you fancied a cool down and a beer in the afternoon. probably the only garden in venice from what we saw.
fridge was not great and getting things cold but cant really comlplain beacause we only used it to put water in it over night. wifi is a bit patchy in the room but when it was mentioned they did all they could to get it workign and it worked for a while but there is wifi in the lobby and in the breakfast room so you could always pop downstsirs if it was that important.
Room was spacious with good air conditioning. Dining room staff friendly and efficient. Nice garden. Quiet.
Bed was too soft. TV was too small. TV programs limited. Shower cubicle small with no place for soap.
Position and area with really good restaurants close by-area not too busy with tourists but all one would want to visit very easily accessible. Very comfortable, clean and spacious accommodation Excellent and friendly staff. love the extra personal touch at breakfasts Breakfast very fresh, plentiful and enjoyable,
Not very strong wifi.
The staff working at about 6 pm is very warm-hearted
breakfast offered a broad selection and even included some home cooking! The location was fabulous; had a lovely view of the rear garden.
bathroom didn't have a shower head holder installed on the wall; only a hand held shower nozzle.
Service and attitude from staff was great. Location is perfect if you want to stay away from the crowds.
Breakfast was continental but quite limited. More like a 3+ Star hotel not 4 as advertised. Room was in need of some tlc and a paint. Stains on carpet, curtains and bedstead.
Really friendly staff Delightful garden - a real asset Canal side independent restaurant nearby where we had a good fried fish supper
I was happy to be in the Dorsoduro but if anyone wanted to be more central it wouldn't be so good for them. I found it more peaceful and less touristy than being near San Marco so personally it suited me better.
The beautiful garden is the main attraction. Close to vaporetto for St Mark's and station. Good value local restaurants
Room rather ordinary for four stars. Double bed felt just like two singles pushed together. No tea and coffee point in room. No view.
I loved the little garden in the back, although it was a little neglected, it was a nice oasis from the crowds of Venice. I loved the neighbourhood and the extremely helpful and friendly staff.
I found the prices a bit high and the room was warm and and stuffy since the ac wasn't turned on for the season yet.
Great position with interesting canal views from the front rooms.
Garden needs a bit of work...
