I think I got double charged for our stay. I can't check until I get home. If so I will protest through my credit card company.
The staff had very helpful and friendly, especially with getting to Venice (a quick 8 min public bus ride). Breakfast was better than expected for the price). Rooms were clean and we couldn't hear any road noise. No issues with WiFi and parking. Would definitely use this hotel again!
Our only complaints were the pillows were too flat and we could hear conversations from the room next door.
Everything was OK, friendly and helpful staff, clean room, good breakfast, comfortable connection to Venice by public bus.
The location, just a short busride from Venice.
No complaints at all.
Location and personnel
bad sound isolation, a small shower cabin, too easy breakfast
I would strongly recommend Hotel San Carlo for people who has average budget but wants to have holiday in a "comfortable" way (minimum walk, very close to Venice) for many reasons. Perfect location to Venice: 10 mins of bus ride from a stop which is only 300 m far from the hotel. Buses to Venice operate in every 8-10 minutes. You can buy tickets (even 24/48/72 hrs passes) at hotel reception. Hotel is also well located in Mestre, close to a shopping centre and the main square. Easy to go out and have a drink or dinner in the evenings. Receptionist were extremely helpful and nice, explained everything, they speak at least 4 languages. Continental breakfast is good. Dining room is a bit small, we had to wait 5 minutes once to have a seat, this is not a big issue. WiFi in hotel room works with password (ask reception) with a good speed. Hotel room was well-equipped (no fridge and kettle, be aware!), TV has 50+ channels (all in Italian language). There was shampoo and soap bar in the bathroom, plus hairdryer, no other extra. Otherwise bathroom is super clean. Tax/night is 2,54 € / person/night, this is added to your bill at the end (it is stated on booking.com and on San Carlo's webpage, too).
The only thing I disliked was the thin wall. Voice of neighbours was not heard but the noises from their bathroom. I am aware that it is more or less the same in every hotels but it bothered me a bit in San Carlo when I tried to fall asleep (10-11 pm). Not a major issue anyway: get tired enough in Venice and you won't face with this problem at all :-)
very helpful staff, never met like here before, tasty breakfast, wi-fi, free parking with cameras, good location next to 2 bus stops with connection directly to Piazzale Roma, large quiet room, large bathroom with bidet
no glasses at room,
Location- easy from Marco Polo Airport, short bus ride to Roma Sq in Venice, frequent buses. Helpful staff
Could hear guests above and next door
Nice and very clean hotel with comfortable rooms, sufficient breakfast, well-positioned in Mestre, with very easy access to transport and to Venice. Very good, helpful staff, careful with customer needs.
Nothing. Everything was O.K.
All are good. Found nothing to complain. Breakfast was good after a long time tour in Europe. We are Muslims..so could get eggs in the breakfast.
Easy access to Venice and airport via public transportation: - direct bus to airport and railway station stop in front of the hotel, direct bus to Venice stops 5mins away from hotel by foot. Reasonably priced (for Venice area), with breakfast included in price Helpful staff
Rooms are badly insulated acoustically - we had to ask guests in neighbouring room to make less noise. Room was very small - not much room to move around
great location if you are visiting Venice! Very friendly, english spoken staff!
Bathroom needs update.
Excellent. Room overlooking yachts and speed boats. Personnel suggests 20 euros bus/boat pass unlimited rides for 24 hours. We had a great time in Venice !!
friendly, helpful reception staff who gave clear directions and map about how to get to Venice. Buses really frequently during the day and only 10 minutes to Venice. Breakfast basic but was included in the price so did not expect much. Restaurant staff helpful and kept everything filled up.
Not many places to eat nearby, pizza café and indian restaurant next door but easy to go back to Venice in the evening.
Nice staff, very helpful, close to connections to Venice and aiport. We had broken shower and they fixed it immediatelly. Also prepared breakfast for early departure
I missed some option to buy a watter, etc., some coin machine for drinks
It was a small but very nice hotel with very friendly staff
The staff was incredibly nice and helpful and it was about as handy for access to Venice as could be.
a bit run down, and the bathrooms need upgrade
A clean Hotel with friendly staff conveniently situated about 10 minutes by bus from the Venice Bus Station. Easy access to and from Marco Polo Airport by bus. A 15 minute walk to the centre of Mestre for restaurants (this may be a bit far for younger people but not a problem for a mature couple). Would we use this Hotel again; yes.
The personal was very nice and helpful. The hotel is very close to the bus stop and you can be in Venice in 15 min.
They advertise everywhere that the hotel was renewed some years ago but our room had for sure the same bed and decoration as in the 70s or 80s. I don't find it good at all that they lie in the specifications, specially when you are already paying a high price in that region/city. I would never go back there, there are for sure better hotels in that price level.
Polite staff, cleanliness, modest but elegant interiors.
Blanket covers were not provided (so I had to ask at least for extra sheets for this purpose). Also, the shower space is not protected by a hard door, but only with a shower curtain, which, in combination with low treshhold, results in little flood after taking shower (even though I tried to shower as carefully as possible).
Very helpful staff. Comfortable rooms, good breakfast and well located for travelling into Venice. If staying for a few days ,the travel pass (bus and water buses) is good value for money, get it at Reception.
We stayed at this hotel for three nights and we were not disappointed. We arrived at Mestre from Florence by train and got a bus which dropped us off a few metres from our hotel. The hotel was very clean and tidy. With the help of the staff we got our bearings and realised how easy it was to get into 'Venice proper' by bus for a E1.20 bus ticket.. Justin at the hotel sorted us out with a 48 hour 'bus and boat pass' with which we were able to go 'where and when' we wanted. The glass factory in Murano and the character of Burano were amazing and not to be missed. It is also worth taking the circular boat around the outskirts of Venice. It gives you a break from trudging around on the soles of your feet. To be honest, it was good to get out of Venice overnight, as we found it quite trashing after a full days sightseeing. Meanwhile, if wanting to eat in Mestre after a tiring day I would recommend the 'Laguna Ristorante' which is about 500 mtrs from the hotel and don't be frightened to try the Indian restaurant next door to the hotel. The food is delicious. Thanks again to all the staff. You made our stay in Venice very easy to cope with. Keep up the good work!
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They had a great map of the bus route, time table and a map of Venice. The staff spoke great English and gave us detailed information to take the bus into Venice it was about a 10 min bus ride. The hotel was very clean and had off the street parking.
Easy parking close to bus, friendly help staff good English
Breakfast was very average
Not too expensive
Didn't bother to talk english, Room was very small and noisy.
