Located in one of the most panoramic areas in Naples and within walking distance of the centre, this hotel is within 2 km of many of the city’s major attractions.

The Hotel San Francesco is rich in history; founded as a convent in 1557 it has been carefully restored and offers magnificent views of the Gulf of Naples.

The harbour is within walking distance of the hotel, whilst Capodichino Airport is only 10 km away. In fact, the hotel is well-connected to the entire city by cable cars.

Hotel information

The convent has a long and fascinating history. It began from a poor monk of the Frati Minori Conventuali order, Brother Agostino da Miglionico, who built a little cell deep inside the mountain that was later transformed, with the help of Fra Girolamo da S. Agata, into a comfortable little convent.

Today, the antique convent has been restructured while maintaining its historic and artistic value, and has become the elegant and accommodating Hotel San Francesco al Monte. The charm of the ambience remains intact, and every detail has been restored to its old splendor.

The swimming pool is open from 15 May 2008 until 15 September 2008, from 09:00 until 17:30.

Food & beverage

The hotel's panoramic restaurant is located on the terrace on the 4th floor. It serves an excellent selection of Mediterranean cuisine. The nightly rate includes a full breakfast, served each morning.

The guest rooms have been created from the original cells of the convent, but have been equipped with all modern comforts, and are provided with Jacuzzi bath or shower. All rooms have retained a stunning view.

We had a quiet room with a beautiful view. The breakfast was excellent and the dining terrace was very special. The staff were always helpful. We thought it was an exceptional hotel.

the panoramic view was beautiful and the hotel itself was beautiful, especially from the restaurant outdoors.

need to improve the computer system. the wireless keyboard was not proactive and made it difficult to type. they should have a seperate area in the hotel for the customers to use along with a printer as well.

Fantastic building, well renovated and maintained to the highest standards. Very clean, well trained and polite staff. Amazing views from room and terraces.

Pool terrace only opened 9 till 5 and difficult to find staff to place a drinks order.

The view of Naples was magnificent. I advise to have dinner at the terrace. The staff was really nice. There was a misunderstanding about my order but they changed it immediately..

It is an extraordinary property. Much of the original architecture still exists which makes it a very unique place. The location and view are unbelievable, the rooftop pool and garden are gorgeous, and the food is excellent. We have travelled a lot and are very discriminating but we definitely will go back and stay longer next time!

The view was wonderful. The room was spacious. The swimming pool was nice. The food at the restaurant was pretty good. The mini bar was free.

The air conditioning unit did not work effectively in our room. The staff at the swimming pool were not very helpful or attentive. The bed was rock hard. The bathtub/shower leaked.
