Having to leave, which seems to be a common issue with other guests.
Everything! The owner Alessio (Alex), who speaks excellent English, and who also is the waiter, concierge, porter, sommelier, was incredible and made us feel SO welcome and comfortable. We sometimes thought there must have been two of him but he's just one very special man with a very special family who works with him. The property is first-rate, the views of Assisi at night down the hill through the olive groves are spectacular, the included breakfast is wonderful, especially the homemade yogurt (made by his sister) with a little honey on top, the 5 course dinners at 8PM ($40 Euro/person and worth every penny) are to die for (even though we usually do not eat 5 courses nor eat that late, we "forced" ourselves), the wines selected by Alex's Dad are excellent and very reasonably priced, Even the dogs Tequila, Whiskey, and Kiko are charming and keep a close watch over the property. The church bells from Assisi are enjoyable. Our GPS took us up the little winding road Via Santa Tecla and told us we had arrived a few hundred yards before we actually were there. If that happens to you, just keep driving a little further until you see the immaculately trimmed hedges around the property and you'll be at the entrance gate. Alex saw us on video when we arrived and opened the gate immediately, but there's a call box if by chance he doesn't see you. After that, you will be given a remote to operate the gates. The location is rural and very peaceful, but it's still really close to everything we wanted to see, and only 10 minutes from Assisi. The little winding road is actually not very long and we only saw one car on it the six days we were guests. Alex gave us many WONDERFUL suggestions of Umbrian towns to visit and he always seemed to know what was on our mind.
