“ Fantastic hotel right in the hearth of Trastevere quarter. Here you can find lots of bars, restaurants, trattoria, wine bars etc. The hotel is in walking distance from major attractions....20min max walking. Great breakfast and garden. I am very fussy and I can tell you that this hotel is really good. ”

Location was great. Staff friendly. Very quiet area of town. The shared courtyard had folks talking late (2 AM) and early (7:30 AM). Our room faced out into the courtyard so despite the fact that there was no street noise, the room was not all that quite. I'd recommend earplugs if you have a hard time sleeping with people talking outside your window.

Despite its location in bustling Trastevere, the hotel managed to feel like a secluded haven. The quality of accommodation and care was excellent. We'd definitely stay there if we visited Rome again.

Here you can find lots of bars, restaurants, trattoria, wine bars etc. The hotel is in walking distance from major attractions....20min max walking. Great breakfast and garden. I am very fussy and I can tell you that this hotel is really good. If I have to be extremely picky I'd say a bit of noise in the morning from the staff doing the rooms....but you get this everywhere. Thanks to Antonio at the reception, the pretty spanish girl from Seville and the gent who made us the coffees at 4am when we left. Marco If I have to be very fussy just a bit of noise in the morning (8ish) due to staff cleaning rooms and setting up breakfast......nothing major

An ideal oasis in an excellent location - just a walk away from Rome's major sights. Friendly and welcoming, if only the weather had allowed us to take full advantage of the delightful courtyard!

A great place, perfect location in a middle of Trastevere. Just round the corner from the Piazza, so a lot of nice restaurants nearby. Rooms were clean and nice. The patio was nice place to read and talk with other people. Afternoon snack was good time to cool down after walks around the Rome and a good start to prepare for the night. The bread at breakfast was excellent. Other related service like airport collection worked also very well.

Incredible location. An oasis in the very center of the great Trastevere area, with restaurants, shops and bars with a lot of animation just next door. Great place to stay during de warm season, very quiet but with "everything" very close by. Small details (linen hand towels in the toilet, smooth working AC, free snacks in the afternoon, free bikes to go out and visit Rome, outside courtyard to have breakfast...) made a big difference! We could not have asked for more!

The setting of hotel Santa Maria could not be better. In the heart of Trastevere, surrounded by fantastic cafes and restaurants with real Roman food, not tourist oriented! The hotel itself was like an oasis in the bustling city. The courtyard was very relaxing to hang out in, with bar service and snacks an added bonus. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, and the room was very comfortable. Walking distance to the Vatican and to other attractions. Parking on site was very convenient. We took cabs to the coliseum and to the trevino fountain because it was so hot (we were there during a heat wave)but you could definitely walk there too. The receptionist will call you a cab but there is a taxi stand a block away. Proximity to the Santa Maria square is very nice as well. Having the courtyard for our son to play in was a bonus as well, since I did not see many other hotels in rome so conveniently located with outside space to offer.

The hotel is in walking distance to many major sights. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The breakfast is good and it was lovely to enjoy it in the garden each morning. I liked that it was quite small. It felt secure and safe. The Trastevere area is lively and fun with lots of good restaurants and more of a neighborhood feel. There was a mess up with our reservation and we ended up changing rooms three times. This was particularly annoying when we got back to the hotel after a full day of sightseeing and the staff had moved us to another room, handling all of our luggage, clothes and personal items that were unpacked in the previous room. Another day when I went to the lobby to ask about something else they informed me that I was due to check out the following morning when in fact my booking was for two more days. Fortunately I had my booking paperwork with me and they moved us yet again to another (more expensive) room at the same rate. Although we were accomodated, it was a bit unpleasant not to be able to stay in one room the whole time. I would stay at the hotel again, but would definitely confirm and reconfim my reservation! Also, would not recommend staying in room 3. It is very noisy!

I loved my stay at the Hotel Santa Maria. It has a beautiful courtyard where you can have your breakfast under orange trees. It was very quiet, but in a very interesting and active area once you leave the gates. The neighborhood couldn't have been better. Great restaurants, charming streets and close to everything.

Location was excellent and the staff very helpful. It is perfectly located in Trastevere for all the right reasons; well located for daytime street-idling, bars/restaurants in the evening, and walking into the city without being compromised by noise due to the quiet enclosed location. Perfect and will definitely go back again.

The setting is idyllic in the centre of the Trastevere area of Rome. The courtyard has a pretty dining area surrounded by orange trees and is a lovely spot to eat breakfast in the sunshine or drink a glass of prossecco at 5.30pm with your free canapes It is a gated property with a night porter and that provides extra security and the staff were very courteous and helpful and rooms were well serviced. The rooms are a little small and basic for the cost so you would need to consider you are paying for location, security and staff customer care rather than the attributes of the rooms themselves
